How to convert to MP3 or ACC?

I made a small song on garageband. now it is saved as .band
but want it to be an mp3 or acc. how can i do this? i already tried taking it to itunes and when i try to convert it there, nothing happens. i also tried looking at it with quicktime but it wont let me convert.
how can i do this?

I would never suggest lossy re-encoding of already lossy encoded audio, this will kill it literally. There should be only one lossy encoding done at the final stage. So the best way for GB is to "Share to iTunes" and then convert to MP3 or AAC within iTunes or drag it to Finder and use any other free/commercial software you like.

Anyone could teach me how to convert my MP3 music in my iPhone 5 into Ringtone?

You can't do this directly within the device. Your media needs to be in an iTunes library on your computer. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if necessary.
    Select your song.
On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
Right-click on the song and select Create AAC version.
Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer.
Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
Delete the broken entry to the file that you renamed and moved.

  • How to convert to MP3 format?

    I am using iTunes, 7.1.0.59.
I go to Edit, Preferences, Advanced Tab, and set iTunes Music folder location to :\Documens & Settings \All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Music\. The folder conatins 574MB, 19 Folders, 164 files. All type MPEG-4 Audio File. How can I convert these files to MP3 format?
I understand that I can bring the files into iTunes Music Library by clicking on File, Add Folder To Library, however they come in as m4a. Ater bring them in I can select a song, click on Advanced, Convert Selection to MP3 and create a duplicate listing for a single song. However, when I do this I do not see any new file on my hard disk. If I used this method I would repeat the command 167 times and end up with each song entered twice in iTunes Music Library. This is not what I want to accomplish. I want to permanetly change the file format on the hard disk from m4a to mp3.How can this be done?

  • Does converting to MP3 create duplicate files in library?

I figured out how to convert my songs form ACC to MP3 (for use with other devices), but now my library in I-tunes is showing duplicate songs for these selected songs. Does this mean when I connect my IPOD that there will be both the ACC and the MP3 on there now and take up double the space for each song?
    Thanks!

When you convert in iTUnes, it keeps the original and makes a COPY in another format. SO if you have "Dolly Parton - Cuntry girl" in AAC format, and convert that song into MP3, you will end up with 2, one original in AAC and another copy in MP3. If the ipod is set on its default of "AUto update all songs" yes both will be put on the ipod.
If you wish not to have AAC files, first goto edit>preferences>advanced tab>import sub tab and chage it from AAC to MP3 so future imports from CD will be in MP3.

  • How can I convert m4p's or ACC files to MP3s so I can make a mp3 Disk?

Trying to make a mp3 disk for my Bose Wave system with all my jazz tunes, figured it would be nice to have all the music on one disk instead of multiples. However, the files I have are not mp3 format. How can I make my Jazz playlist songs mp3 format so I can burn it to disk? I have a 20" imac G5 with the latest itunes.
    Thanks for your help!

If they are Protected AAC's purchased from the iTunes Music Store it is against the Apple Licence to convert them, if you want help ask elsewhere. if they are AAC's imported onto your Mac using iTunes instead, then you can convert them using iTunes by going to preferences and the advanced tab, then choose the importing sub-tab and change the format to MP3 Encoder, then simply select the songs in your Jazz playlist you want to convert and Ctrl Click of them and choose the convert to MP3 option, you will then have MP3's you can put on an MP3 CD. - The only problem is the quality may be noticably worse. As you say you have a Bose Wave System which sounds quite good this may be a problem for you...
The better solution (though unfortunately more expensive ) would be to buy an iPod of some sort and connect that up to the Bose Wave system, I know nothing about your stereo but you can buy an cable which plugs into the top of your ipod for less than £5 ($8-9) to connect up to your stereo either through the phono ports at the back or if it has a special MP3 player input you could connect the iPod up at the front. The iPod would also be able to play any protected AAC's you had downloaded from iTunes too.

  • How do I convert an MP3 file to use it as a ringtone on my iPhone 3G?

How do I convert an MP3 file to use it as a ringtone on my iPhone 3G?

Everybody's wrong wrong wrong. You don't need garageband. Select the song, go to info. You need to select a start and stop time for the song that can't be any longer than 40 seconds in length. Then in advanced mode you convert the song to acc. once done locate the file on the computer. it should end in .m4a . Change the a to an r so it reads .m4r Drag the file to the desktop, double click and it ends up in ringtones folder.
That's it! Works every time. Or for those who want easier:

  • Converting an MP3 to WAV -- How can I convert an MP3 to wav format, 16 bit

How can I convert an MP3 to wav format, 16 bit, 44,1 khz? I like the program Switch which I know can convert MP3s, but how to I set it up for the specific settings that I need?

Just import into a logic session. Then bounce at the specs you require. Logic or Waveburner, iTunes and even Quicktime I think can each do this easily.
A question though. I am assuming you are converting an MP3 to 44.1/16 bit just so you can play the file in a consumer quality CD player?? IF so - that makes sense.
But if you are doing this because you think it will improve the sound quality of your MP3, I will save you some time here. It won't improve the sound quality at all. It will just turn the MP3 into a larger audio file.
44.1/16 bit resolution enables you to have a much better sounding file than MP3 formats, but not by going at it this way.
No offense to you if you know all of this already. I am assuming that you may not know this - because if you did you would also likely know how to convert an audio file.
    Cheers
