How to create a cluster on existing table

how to create a cluster on existing table

user8949393 wrote:
how to create a cluster on existing tableAFAIK you can't. You have to create the cluster from scratch, something like
--cluster key can be just one column also
CREATE CLUSTER s_emp_dept_ic (deptno NUMBER(7), dname varchar2(30));
CREATE TABLE emp(
  DEPTNO NUMBER(7),
  DNAME  VARCHAR2(30),
  EMPNO  NUMBER(4),
  ENAME  VARCHAR2(30)
--cluster clause puts table in cluster.  Deptno, dname are table columns in
--cluster key
CLUSTER s_emp_dept_ic (deptno,dname);
--a cluster index must be created before any data is inserted
--the index columns used come from the cluster key from CREATE CLUSTER
CREATE INDEX s_emp_idx ON CLUSTER s_emp_dept_ic;

Could some one please tell me on how to create a partition on existing table?
You can't - that isn't possible. Unless a table is already partitioned you can NOT create another partition on it.
You must either redefine the table as a partitioned table (using the DBMS_REDEFINITION package) or create a new partitioned table and move the data to its new partitions.
The choice will depend on how much data the existing table has and whether you can do it offline.

  • How to create a partiotion for existing table

    Hi,
There ia one table in database with data. I want to create a partion for this table. data loss of data is not an issue.
Please provide the query for this.
    Regards,
    Venki

An existing non-partitioned table cannot be partitioned. You will have to create a new, partitioned table and move the data (if you care to keep it) from the old table to the new table, potentially followed by dropping the old table and renaming the new table to use the old table name.
If you do not have a downtime window to accomplish this, you can use DBMS_REDEFINITION to assist. That, however, is just adding a bit of extra complexity on top of the basic procedure in order to support users accessing the table while you're building the new table. Unless your downtime window is insufficient to accomplish the move manually, I wouldn't bother with DBMS_REDEFINITION.

    i have tried

    thanks.

Just Googling for ora-14501 resulted in the following
Adding a partition results in ORA-14501: object is not partitioned
It is really sad you can not do this on your own, and always need someone to do this for you.

    Hi,
Not sure whether you need dependent LOV or dependent poplist. But anyways, you can refer the below link for Dependent LOV

and for Dependent Poplist refer the below link:

  • How to create IDOC for customer defined table

    hi,
How to create IDOC for customer defined table Records and how to send this IDOC to target system.
what message type will be used and on receiving system how to post these records.
      thankx.
      pillac.

    Hi,
You need to create a custom message type and custom IDOC type for this with whatever fields you want send. You need to create segments (WE30), IDOC type (WE30), Message types (WE81) and assign the message type to the IDOC type (WE82).
You will have trigger the IDOC using a Report or something after doing the partner profile settings.
Similary in the target system also, you will have do all the settings.
Take a look the links to find out what settings needs to be done.

  • How to create OSB cluster

    HI All ,
I have to create an OSB cluster across different machines .
Can I get a detailed steps of how to create a cluster across machines using node manager .
I am using osb 11gR2 .Please let me know the exact steps .

You can bundle two or more wires together using the 'bundle function' - the output is a cluster. This is the top example.
The other way is drop the constand cluster and drag any constants (like the numeric and string) into the cluster. This is the lower example in the VI snippet. You can also do this on the frontpanel - drop the cluster constant on the frontpanel and drag any controls or indicators into it. They have to be controls or indicators - you can't have a mix of both.
Also in case you are not familiar with the concept if you are working with big clusters you should 'type def' them. In LV2011 you do this by right-clicking on the block diagram and clicking 'make type def'. What this does is creates a separate file where the new cluster (or any other type of control) is saved. Then if you change the cluster - say add a boolean alogn with the numeric and string - the change happens and is propogated through your program. This stops you getting broken wires when you have two clusters wired together, you change one and not the other.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • How was created the cluster with keys in example: Sim Phone.vi

    Hello all
    I have LV 7.1.1
I have found the example: Sim Phone.vi
And I don't know how was created the cluster with keys?
    Best regards
    Iskander

It's just like any other cluster you create. Put a cluster container on the front panel and insert some Booleans. the actual Booleans are on the classic controls palette. The border of the cluster is also colored transparent with the paintbrush on the Tools palette.

  • How to create exact copy of a table

    Hello,
I must admit my "google skills" have failed me and it is possible that I might be missing something obvious here but allow me to explain.
If I have a table that is populated/accessed by a typical OLTP application such that over time the data in the table may become "fragmented".
I know that is a very controversial term I used but that is not the question here. A simple way to describe the state of the table might be
that the table has always been populated with lots of small INSERTs, modified with lots of small UPDATEs and data has been deleted in small DELETEs.
This has meant that the data is neither closely stored in data blocks nor is in any particular order (so there are some empty blocks under HWM).
Now my question is how do I create exact copy of this table and its indexes AS THEY EXIST AT THE MOMENT that includes
    1) its data
    2) its constraints/indexes etc.
    3) its storage parameters
    4) data stored in EXACTLY same manner as in original table.
To avoid complications, the table in question is just a normal heap table without any partitioning involved. While CREATE TABLE AS SELECT (or CREATE
TABLE followed by INSERT) will take care of points (1) to (3) above, it will not achieve point (4) above.
    Can somebody please help?
    Thanks in advance.

  • [ADF Help] How to create a view for multiple tables

    Hi,
I am using Jdeveloper 11G and ADF framework, and trying to create a view to update multiple tables.
    ex:
Table A has these fields: ID, Name
Table B has these fields: ID, Address
A.ID and B.ID are primary keys.
B.ID has FK relationship with A.ID
(basically, these tables have one-to-one relation)
I want to create a view object, which contains these fields: B.ID (or A.ID), A.Name, B.Address.
So I can execute C,R,U,D for both tables.
I create these tables in DB, and create entity objects for these tables.
So there are 2 entity objects and 1 association.
Then I create a view object based on B and add fields of A into the view:
If the association is not a "Composition Association",
when I run the model ("Oracle Business Component Browser") and try to insert new data, fields of A can't edit.
If the association is a "Composition Association", and click the insert button, I will get
"oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25030: Failed to find or invalidate owning entity"
If I create a view object based on A and add filed of B into the view:
When I run the model and try to insert new data, fields of B can't edit, no matter the association is or is not a composition association.
So... how can I create a view for multiple tables correctly?
    Thanks for any advices!
Here are some pictures about my problem, if there is any unclear point, please let me know.

    Hi Branislav,
Thanks, but the result is same ....
In the step 2 of creating view object, I can select entity objects to be added in to the view.
If I select A first, and then select B (the "Source Usage" of B is A), then finishing the wizards.
When I try to create a new record in the view, I can't edit any properties of B (those files are disabled).
If I select B first, and then select A in crating view object, the result is similar ...
    Thanks for any further suggestion.
    Leon
