How to create an ods after creating info objects?

Hi Jini,
In the create screen u will find some settings related information which u need to check and then there are key fields and data fields option.
In Key field u need to include those objects which should make ur ODS Key fields. and then rest of the fields in the data fields.
For setting related information u can search in help.sap.com or even on SDN threads.

Hello Vani,
You cannot increase the length of an info-object beyond 60 chars.However if you want to store a characteristics data with more than length 60, then you may create separate info-objects
for example: if you need to store 'notes' which might have length more than 60,
then you may create info-objects like notes 1/3 ---store first 60 chars.
notes 2/3 --- store next 60 characters and so on.

Uploading of master data
Log on to your SAP
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELLING
1. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( master data attributes, text, hierarchies)
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to select Insert Characteristics as info provider
Select required info object ( Ex : Employee ID)
Under that info object select attributes
Right click on attributes and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. Alternatively monitor icon can be used.

Initially default value(not constant) for this info Object value should be 'K4' in Info Package
If I set data selection value for this info object K4 it will retreive records with this selection only? how to handle

suppose as your ex. if you are having fiscalyear variant in the dataselection tab then specify K4 in the from column, again the ficalyearvariant row and click on insert duplicate row at the bottom . you will get another row . In that enter Y2 in the from column. now you can extract K4, y2 values .

Create new or use existing info object ? How to decide ?

I have this question.
I enhanced the data source with a field user ID, now I am mapping it in the transfer rules in bw. When I searched in the system (ctrl F in infobjects of RSA1) I could find related info objects but they are currently being used in several places.
Can I use the existing one or do I have to create new info object ? How can I decide this ?

Hi,
it just depends on the content of the 0USERNAME or 0USER_NAME depending on use. Usually these Infoobjects contain the source system user name (login name) for example the entries maintained in SU01 of the SAP R3 system.
If your extractor delivers the same entry, feel free to use it. If it is another kind of username (i.e. external system, database user etc.) it may be usefull to define a new object. But if you define your own ZUSERNAME Infoobject remember to provide loads for the Text and attribute fields (if required). This is for free, if you can use available infoobject which are already maintained by earlier projects.

How to change CUBE properies after create

Hi,
I am using AWM 102020A, I have created a CUBE and now want to go back and change some of the implementation details , is it possible to change :-
Tab -> Implementation Details
1. Order of dimensions
2. Sparsity checkbox
3. Partition Details
Tab -> Cache
1. Turn on session cache if checked off.
Seems these are locked down after create, how can I change these details.

Since you are you using the 10.2.0.2 version of AWM I suppose the database version you are using is also 10.2.0.2 or below.
So to my knowledge the answer is no.
If you are on the 10.2.0.3 version you have some more options because of the integrated sparsity advisor. Then you would have had the opportunity to recreate the cube. I have never tested the actual recreate function, but I've tested the sparsity advisor and saw that I could change if the cube was to be compressed, what dimension to be sparse etc.
Seems like to have to have the 10.2.0.3 version of the database for this to work.

How to remove constant asignemnt from 0FUNCT_LOC info object

how come that you have a hierarchy created on this IObj having a constant ?!?
did you really empty its master data? and SID table? check in the tables if this is really the case.
If you still have a hierachy (not empty), most likely you still have at least one entry in the SID table (/BI0/SFUNCT_LOC)
try deleting the hierarchy and ensure the /BI0/P and /BI0/S table are really empty.
then try to apply your change in RSD1.
If this still doesn't work please revert but I am still believing that you'll need to empty the datatargets as well; to answer your question: datatargets like cubes/ods won't have their data deleted...

How to remove the space in the info object level?

Hi,
I created a Master Data info Object and gave the data type as <b>Char</b> and length as <b>30</b>.
From the source system I am getting the data of length 9. But at PSA level I am getting some erroneous records.
Example: Data from the source system 'a12345678'
Data in PSA 'a12345678b' -
*** where b - Blank
With out changing the length how can I remove the spaces (Blank)?
Can any one suggest me how to remove, where and what to apply ?
I need to do any settings at the info object level or at the Transfer Rule?
Please provide the each and every step to resolve my problem.

How to reduce the length of the info object that's being used?

I have created info objects and used them in a DSO. Now I want to reduce the length of the info objects but i'm unable to do it. When I reduced the length and tried activating the Info object, it's giving me error and the info object is not getting activated. Please guide me how I can reduce the length and activate the Info Object.

Reducing the length of an infoobject is not that easy
Cleanest way -
Drop all transaction data for that infoobject
Drop all data in the DSO and cubes.
Reduce the length and then activate and transport all the infoobject and there dependence objects.

Loss Authorization after changing info object

I have DP Planning book and in this planning book I have used Zinfoobject .
This is working fine since go live . Recently I have added new atribute in this zinfoobject .
After that user is not accessible to DP pLANNING Area.
SAYS THAT 'NO Authorization.

Is this Info Object is Std. one?
I assume this info object is created by manually.If you want to change the data type of info object then you need to delete master data of this info object.After that you can change the data type of info object.
But this is the vrey risky steps,so i would suggest try it ones in dev. or sand box server,then go further.

Can we add new cubes and ODS after creating the multiprovider?

Hi all,
i created a multiprovider on a cube and ODS. Now i needed one more charactersitic from other cube.then i did change multiprovider and then add that new cube and did the identification, and adjusted the query, when i ran the query it is showing chracteristic as # and not assigned. I even tried bringing in 0infoprovider object to see whether data is coming from third infoprovider, it is not showing up any data from third one. i tried logging out of bex and logging back in.....but still no use..............i am wondering now, once a multiprovider is created can new infoprovider be added to it ?
i am even able to see the new key figures and chracteristic in my query.but data is not getting populated...i also checked and found that the data is available in the infoproviders....
plz help me out..

nice to see your answer, I saw a lot of helpful posts on SDN by you.
I did the RSRT with debug multiprovider, it said,
0FISCPER: General restriction for InfoProvider ZSD_C12 not possible
Access to ZSD_C12 was excluded
now i corrected it, it is populating the key figure now but not the chracteristic still.....the chracteristic is still getting value only from one of the info providers
importantly, when i bring infoprovider above the keyfigures space on query, it still only shows two info providers for each key figure and not the third one ,the key figure coming the third one is only shown in overall result. how can i solve this?
i tried rsr_gen_direct_all_queries as told by krian, but still cant get the data in the report. i did list cube on mulitiprovider and i see the data for that chracteristic there....
are there any other options in RSRT to find possible setting faults....

Depending on the amount of customizations that you did, it may be easier to use the wizard to re-create the master-detail form & report.
If you still want to give it a go:
Assuming that you created the 2-page Master Detail report & form:
On the first page, you will have to chage the SQL to reflect the new table name. Once you do that, you'll have to re-create the link on the EMPID column.
On the second page, you'll need to do some more work. You'll have to change both Page Rendering Processes: Fetch Row from EMP and Get Next or Previous Primary Key. You'll then need to change the Page Processing Process: Process Row of EMP. Also, ensure that you have a proper Foreign Key relationship between EMP2 and DEPT (or your detail table).

How to delete unwanted combinations after creating new records ?

Hi All,
I am generating some combinations using the 'characteristic relationship' setting in the query designer. If 10 records are created and the user wants to work only on 3 records, is there a way that the user can delete the unwanted records. I mean he shouldnt see these records again.
If deletion is not possible then is there a way to hide these records ? Any logic as how to achieve this ?
Zero suppression will not work in my case as there is a chance of assigning the key figure to zero and again reviving it back to some non zero value.

Yes thats how it works. But the user doesnt want to enter all the specific filter criteria , he wants to input the values only for some characteristics and leave the others as blank. In this case the system creates all the possible combinations for the characteristics that are left blank. So the no of unwanted records are increasing drastically.
I had written a fox code to generate combinations based on the variable entry(from and to) for the characteristic which determines the record uniquely. This way i am able to reduce the no of unwanted records. But couldnt delete the records.
Is there any way that i can change the value of a dummy characteristic in the record so that data slice can be applied on such records by hitting a button and the user willnt be able to change the values for these records.
