How to create Auto weakly backup in Windows Server 2012

Hello
       1. I want to set auto backup in windows server 2012 Weakly.
2. can i Set auto backup like a normal data copy.

By configuring automatic backup, you can schedule this task according to your choice(weekly/monthly). You can use backup schedule wizard accessed from the Windows Server Backup user interface (Wbadmin.msc).
To schedule backup task by using powershell, please checkout this link :

  • Creating System Restore Points in Windows Server 2012

Searching for "Create a restore point" on Windows Server 2012, brings up a link that when clicked takes you to System Properties. Once there, there is no System Protection tab or option to create a system restore point. Windows Server Backup
    is installed and functioning.
Is this feature available in Windows Server 2012? Was it replaced with Shadow Copies for Shared Folders?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

     HI,
To create a system restore point, run msconfig.exe, that will launch a UI, click the tools tab, select system restore, that should invoke a UI which asks if you want to  restore to an earlier version or do you want to create a new restore point. I clicked
"create a new restore point" The problem that I ran into is that when I click that button is I receive the error: can't find "C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe". That's the .exe which supports the "Create / restore point' processes. I
posted a question about the missing .exe on the windows > windows 8.1 > Repair and recovery forum and was told to post it here. :>) The subject title of that post is "rstrui.exe Create a system restore point on windows server 8 Standard".
That post documents the steps that I followed trying to create a system restore point. (FYI: I'm not trying to backup any drives. I know what a system restore point is and what backup is. They are two different animals). I want to create a restore
point prior in order to prep for installing an App. So, If a problem occurs; the registry keys and app files can be backed out to some extent. BTW: Create system restore point on windows 8.1does work perfectly well, there's a different UI. I just didn't
know where to post the initial problem.regards,Steve

  • Unscheduled additional backups in Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

    I have a strange problem since upgrading to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. My server is on a lightly used Home network which I run for two periods totalling 8 hours each day. Whenever the server is re-started it immediately begins a Server Backup;
not a great problem in itself but the 'unscheduled' backups prevent the Scheduled backup from operating and often cannot complete before the next Shut Down controlled by Task Scheduler. I presume that R2 has added an extra trigger for the Backup but I can
only find the trigger for my scheduled once-per-day Backup. Can anyone please point me towards the trigger for these unwanted backups. Thanks in advance. Keith Woolf

    Hi,
    Please perform a
    clean boot to troubleshoot
your issue and check if it caused by other software.
You may collect some backup logs to narrow down this issue. By default, tracing is enabled in Windows Server Backup to preserve logs. These traces will be present in files
    under the following directory: %windir%\logs\windowsserverbackup
You can use some tools such as
    tracerpt
command to export the .etl file into a .txt file. Please check if you can find waht is the root trigger that triggers this unscheduled backup.
Meanwhile, please check the schedule task for the scheduled backup if it was configured correctly. You can clear up and recreate, then please check if this issue still exists.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • How to open all ports on a Windows Server 2012 VM

Please any help with this would be appreciated

    Hi,
I don't familiar with this topic, I find a feedback similar with this issue, please see more at:
http://feedback.azure.com/forums/216843-virtual-machines/suggestions/3995978-allow-to-open-more-ports-that-the-150-ports-limit , it seems that this new feature has been fixed, please have a look at Corey Sanders's response, and see this new update at:

  • How to install RDP CALs pack on Windows Server 2012 R2 (member of NT domain)

OS: Windows Server 2012R2 (64-bit), member of NT (Samba 3) domain.
Task: install RDP CAL pack, to allow connecting above its default 3 sessions limit.
Problem: when setting up RDP licensing/other required service, I came to a problem: RDP access broker service requires AD type of domain to be installed.
The server is part of NT (Samba 3) domain and we have no intention to change domain type only to satisfy an auxiliary service.
Is it possible to enable additional RDP CALs on Windows Server 2012 R2 without mandatory joining an AD? The license control available up to Windows Server 2008 has been removed from Windows Server 2012, I can't bypass installing broker and the rest of related
    services.
    Thank you for any information.

  • Error creating VM on Hyper-V Windows server 2012 R2 (0x80070569).

I recently installed in my domain a member server 2012 r2 with Hyper-V Role, and got the following error when creating a new vm:
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.(0x80070569).
The user is momber of Domain Admins group and is logged on the server. I noted that the domain admins group has not the right "log on as a batch Job". Is this right required to create vm ? What are the others requirements to install and admin virtual
    machines in Hyper-V?

    Hi Claudio,
"As Microsoft recommended 'best practice' for Hyper-V servers is to not install any additional Roles or Features that do not specifically support virtualization. As an example, in a Hyper-V Cluster, the Hyper-V Role and the Failover Clustering feature are
installed to support highly available virtualized workloads. Hyper-V hosts play a critical role in an organizations' virtualization strategy. Microsoft recommends that the Hyper-V servers be managed in a separate OU in Active Directory (if they are domain-joined).
Only group policies that apply specifically to Hyper-V host machines should be applied to this OU. This minimizes the risk of a policy conflict affecting the proper functioning in a Hyper-V host. "

  • VSS error 8193 and 22 by backup task (Windows server 2012)

    Hello,
On the WinServer 2012 Std , I am facing VSS error when it starts "system state backup".
The user account of this task is a member of "local Backup operators".
how can I correct this error ?
In the forum, I found a topic that had mentioned regsvr32.
But Microsoft said it does not recommended/ supported for 2008 or later.

    -Quote [start]-
Reregistering files was a common way to fix VSS issues back in Windows 2003.  However, due to the changes in Windows 2008 and 2008R2 servicing, reregistering files will either not work or actually damage Windows.
    Please discontinue using
    regsvr32.

  • Azure backup options for Server 2012 R2 Essentials

    Hello,
I have configured a new on-prem HP server for a very small (5 users) non-profit client. This is a single server environment, and they use Office 365 for email. I have already configured AD Sync between the two with dirsync. I have installed the Azure agent,
and imported the certificate, and I am ready to create a backup set.
This is my first experience with Cloud based server backup - I'm used to products like Backup Exec and tape media. What are my options for backing up this server? Can I only do file/folder backup, as it appears?
What would be best practice in this situation, as I need to back up the systems state as well? And then, how to restore it?
All I can think of would be to use Windows Server backup to create a backup of the server, then back that up - but it's so messy, I must be missing something.
    Thank you in advance!!

    Hi,
You may refer the following link for clear step-by-step procedure on Azure backup:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2014/05/01/configuring-microsoft-azure-online-backup-on-windows-server-2012-r2-essentials.aspx
As of now, you can only backup File & folders(Even entire drive) but you cannot perform System State backups with Azure Backup.
For System State backup, as you mentioned about using WSB and then backing it up to Azure Backup vault may be the only work-around as of now. However, you may vote and provide feedback for this feature in

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 NIC Teaming and DHCP Issue

Came across a weird issue today during a server deployment. I was doing a physical server deployment and got Windows installed and was getting ready to connect it to our network. Before connecting the Ethernet cables to the network adapters, I created a
NIC Team using Windows Server 2012 R2 built-in software with a static IP address (we'll say its 192.168.1.56). Once I plugged in the Ethernet cables, I got network access but was unable to join our domain. At this time, I deleted the NIC team and the two network
adapters got their own IP addresses issued from DHCP (192.168.1.57 and 192.168.1.58) and at this point I was able to join our domain. I recreated the NIC team and set a new static IP (192.168.1.57) and everything was working great as intended.
My issue is when I went into DHCP I noticed a random entry that was using the IP address I used for the first NIC teaming attempt (192.168.1.56), before I joined it to the domain. I call this a random entry because it is using the last 8 characters of the
MAC address as the hostname instead of the servers hostname.
It seems when I deleted the first NIC team I created (192.168.1.56), a random MAC address Server 2012 R2 generated for the team has remained embedded in the system. The IP address is still pingable even though an ipconfig /all shows the current NIC team
with the IP 192.168.1.57. There is no IP address of 192.168.1.56 configured on the current server and I have static IPs set yet it is still pingable and registering with DHCP.
I know this is slightly confusing but I am hoping someone else has encountered this issue and may be able to tell me how to fix this. Simply deleting the DHCP entry does not do the trick, it comes back.

    Hi,
Please confirm you have choose the right NIC team type, If you’ve previously configured NIC teaming, you’re aware NIC teams usually require the assistance of network-side
protocols. Prior to Windows 2012, using a NIC team on a server also meant enabling protocols like EtherChannel or LACP (also known as 802.1ax or 802.3ad) on network ports.

  • Assign 2 of Windows Server 2012 Standard edition licensing question

I'm new at this and I have bought Windows 2012 Standard with 5 CALs back in January from Microsoft store on the Internet using as the host. There is Windows 2008 R2 installed as the virtual machine on the host. Few hours ago I have decided to buy another
license with 5 CALs to upgrade those even that I did need two license of Windows 2012 Standard anyway to support 4 physical processor as my server have quad core processor.
The question here that I need to ask is how do I assign 2 license of Windows Server 2012 Standard edition on the host to lift the limit and that up to 4 VMs will be allowed or does it automatically do that after upgrading to Windows 2012 Standard in
the virtual machine even that 5 CALs plus 5 CALs equal 10 CALs are done automatically?

    Hello,
    You have 2 questions here:
    1. How can I stack multiple OS licence in order to have more virtualization rights (more VMs) running on that host?
    2. How can I stack Windows CAL licence from OEM.
    Answers are:
    1. You only have to licence the original licence on the physical host. You can use the same license key for all 4 VMs or use 2 VM key from the first package and 2 VM keys from the second licence package you just bought.
There is nowhere to register those licence, except one by one inside the VM themselves.
You have to keep all licence document in case of control by Microsoft.
    2. Windows CAL allows a user (or a computer) to connect to an unlimited number of Windows Server within your company network. You have 10 CAL so you can have up to 10 users or computers in your company that will connect to your servers (even if you have 1.000
    servers)
There is nowhere to register those licence, except one by one inside the VM themselves.
You have to keep all licence document in case of control by Microsoft.
    Regards
PS: The only licence that require maintenance and central registration are Remote Desktop Licences.
MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010 MCTS: Lync Server 2010, Configuring MCSE
That is what I thought as I was told before even seen licensing details except a direction of how to attach the second license and I had to make sure. Thank you

  • Windows Server 2012 Windows Backup failed with following error code '0x8078006B' (Windows Backup failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.).

The Volume Shadow Copy service initially was running under the context of System, so we thought that ‘System’ doesn’t have permissions to access network shares.
When the Volume Shadow Copy service was running under the context of System, this was the error logged:
“failed with following error code '0x8078014B' (There was a failure in creating a directory on the backup storage location.).”
Which is likely due to not having permissions to write to the network location.
This is a scheduled backup trying to write to a network location, so we changes the service to run under the context of an account that does have permissions to write to the network share.
Then the error changed to this:
“failed with following error code '0x8078006B' (Windows Backup failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.).”

We aren’t really seeing anything that gives any hint on what the issue is.
    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

We are trying to back up folders/files from 2 local drives (C: & D:), both of which have only 10% space used, and 100 GB free.
We are attempting to back the files up to a Remote Shared File (and there is 100+ GB free space out there).
If we try another network location, we receive the exact same error.
This is Windows Server 2012, not running Hyper-V and is a physical server not a VM.
    Thank you for the link.
