How to create PDF from Crystal Report instead of CRT

Hi
How can we view the reports as PDF within SAP Portal (instead of viewing crt-Files with BO-iView-template)?
I know CRs as PDF from SAP NW IdM - reports are created as PDF there.
We use CR 2008 SP2 with SAP_BW as datasource. We'd like to view the reports in SAP Portal.

  • Create PDF from Crystal Reports

    Hi,
    We are using Crystal Reports XI with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8. When we create a pdf from crystal reports its giving crw32.exe encountered problem. Reinstall both the softwares are not useful. Adobe support professional says problem could be in crystal reports.
    We are doing the following steps to create a pdf.
    Crystal Reports->File->Print->Select Adobe PDF....
    So please let me know the solutions for this.

    Hi Shiv
    As I said, only TTF fonts are supported with the PDF format otherwise it will give an error message as "Failed to export". Enhancement request for the same has been raised.It might get fixed in the coming service pack.
    Try exporting the report which is using only ttf.

  • How to create user editable Crystal Report with dynamic dataset

    What I would like to achieve:
    A program loads a report in runtime updates list of database fields (possibly includes sample data), open report in "Crystal Reports 2011" (or 2008) where user customizes report and saves it. Later on the program loads the report, fills actualized data and displays it in .net report viewer.
    What I do:
    CrReport = New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
    CrReport.Load(TemplateFilename)
    Dim Results As DataTable
    DataTable is filled from a database
    CrReport.SetDataSource(mResults)
    CrReport.SaveAs(NewReportPath, True)
    The NewReportPath is opened in the default program.
    What are the problems
    The report is open in preview mode (not in design).
    When the field is added to the report the designer asks for XML datasource on preview.

    The short answer is that it is not possible. I broke the question to other two: How to save a report that it opens without preview? and How to create user editable Crystal Report with dynamic dataset, where it is possible to find details. Key answer is Re: How to create an editable previewable report?

  • Secure PDF from Crystal Reports

    What's the best way to secure a .pdf from Crystal Reports? I'm using reportdocument.exporttostream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat) in vb.net(VS2005) to create an IO.MemoryStream which is then sent via email. I'd like to add a password to this file before it's sent by email.....is it possible?

    At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal report Desktop Scheduling tools listed at: http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html
    provides this functionality.  It even allows you to dynamically control the password via a field/formula inside the Crystal report. It can also take care of the emailing part.  You can call and request the processing from your own application (via a command line API).

    Can anyone let me know where is the problem?

    Actually, the question boils down to; does the framework support the fonts?
    I believe that my question re. this working in the designer was valid. The designer does not use the framework, so if it works there, it is either a framework issue or a runtime print engine issue.
    I believe if you use the code below, it will list fonts available to the framework:
    foreach(FontFamily ff in FontFamily.Families)
    System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ff.Name);

  • How do I connect from Crystal Report version XI to Oracle 10G express?

    I'm new to oracle 10G express and I'm developing an application that needs reports to preview some data from oracle tables.
    The oracle database is installed on the server and I installed the client on my machine. I need to use the crystal report 11 to report the output. Thus, I designed a crystal report that should simply read a table on oracle and though I need to be able to connect to the oracle 10G Express Edition database. I tried to create a connection from the crystal report using the Database Expert >> Create New Connection >> Oracle Server and I include the following parameters.:
    - Service: host:1521/XE
    - Username: username
    - Password: password
    Then when I tried to connect the crystal report crashes always.
    Is there any way to create a connection to the Oracle Database 10G express from Crystal Report 11?
    Please advise...

    Thank you bala,
    First, How I should start the Listener on the database server?
    Listener.ora content:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    +(SID_LIST =+
    +(SID_DESC =+
    +(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)+
    +(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)+
    +(PROGRAM = extproc)+
    +)+
    +(SID_DESC =+
    +(SID_NAME = CLRExtProc)+
    +(ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)+
    +(PROGRAM = extproc)+
    +)+
    +)+
    LISTENER =
    +(DESCRIPTION_LIST =+
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Daoud-PC)(PORT = 1521))+
    +)+
    +)+
    DEFAULT_SERVICE_LISTENER = (XE)
    How to configure the tnsnames.ora on the client side?
    tnsnames.ora content:
    XE =
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Daoud-PC)(PORT = 1521))+
    +(CONNECT_DATA =+
    +(SERVER = DEDICATED)+
    +(SERVICE_NAME = XE)+
    +)+
    +)+
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS_LIST =+
    +(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))+
    +)+
    +(CONNECT_DATA =+
    +(SID = PLSExtProc)+
    +(PRESENTATION = RO)+
    +)+
    +)+
    ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
    +(DESCRIPTION =+
    +(ADDRESS_LIST =+

    +)+
    +(CONNECT_DATA =+
    +(SID = CLRExtProc)+
    +(PRESENTATION = RO)+
    +)+
    +)+
    Now I`m trying to initialize this on one machine (database & client) and so the crystal report will be on the same machine where the database exist; Additionally, this machine has OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and include the Oracle 10g Express Database & Oracle 10g Express Client software.
    Please check the files content I included above and give me the way on how to establish a connection from the crystal report to the database where both are installed on the same machine.
    Thanks in advance...

  • Error exporting to PDF from Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi,
    We are getting following error while exporting Crystal report to the PDF and preview in IE:
    Description: Failed to export to a pdf file -- Selected exporter does not support one of the features used in this report. MyReport {DCA37817-1414-45A7-8DF9-75503B8CD0FE}.rpt

  • How to create PDF from text file with specific layout?

    I wanted to create the pdf from text file in specific layout - Landscape orientation and JIS B3 Page size while at Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    In past, I could do a right click on a text file (desktop area) and select print to print out the document into .pdf BUT only if I set the Adobe PDF to Landscape and JIS B3 Page size BEFORE.  And I could only do 15 text documents at once.
    I wanted to see if I could do the create the pdf from text file with specific layout in Adobe Acrobat without having to go to Control Panel to preset the Adobe PDF to specific layout at every time.   I would have to set Adobe PDF back to normal layout after I'm done with these pdf print outs.  I do lots of pdfs in normal layout.  Sometimes I would forget to do that.
    So, How do I do that?

    No such luck.  It would output the contents in letter size even in JIS B3 Page layout at MS word.
    Is there a script or action where I could set the orientation and page size before creating PDF on these text files?

  • Background Colour Incorrect when exporting to PDF from Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello All
    When exporting to PDF from CR2008 the background colour of the crosstab is incorrectly displayed. The problem is as follows to create a crosstab with a grey header row and column details in white we have used the following trick.
    Format Cross Tab Border Background is set to Silver.
    Crosstab Expert Grand Total Background colour is set to white.
    The result is a crosstab with header in grey and details in white.
    This report displays correctly in CR2008, and exports as seen on screen to everything but PDF. When exporting to PDF the Crosstab is completely grey taking on only the Background colour of silver, and ignoring the Grand Total Background colour being set to white.
    What is strange that when I print to PDF the format is also displayed exactly as required,
    Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Some additional details.
    CR2008 version 12.3.1.683
    Adobe Reader version 9.3.3
    Windows XP Professional
    Thanks

    If this is a big issue for you then please purchase a case and a Rep can duplicate and escalate to R&D.
    As a work around export to Editable RTF and in Word 2007 you can get a PDF export plug-in and then export to PDF.
    Thank you

  • How to create PDF from Excel with Password Protection Using Visual Studio & Visual Basic

    Could someone provide some VB code sample(s) to create a PDF file with password protection (Security Method - Password Security - Restrict Editing & Printing)?
    I create a bunch of reports every week using an Excel 2010 addin that subsequently must be printed to PDF.  I then have to manually edit the properties of each document in order to apply the printing restriction.
    I'm using Acrobat X.
    I've downloaded the SDK but have no idea which dll's to use or where to begin.
    Thanks!

    That's surprising & disappointing.  I would have thought that this capability would have long since been requested.
    Thanks for the heads up.

  • How to create pdf from word doc file

    HI
    I have a word doc file. (not docx). I have adobe 8 pro. I wrote a word script to create the file using the distiller. The fonts in the pdf file it makes look wacky. That script looks liek this:
    * create archive pdf file
    lfilename = "t:\cardeals\pdf\pdf_archive\" + PADL(alltrim(STR(month(date()))),2,"0") + PADL(alltrim(STR(DAY(DATE()))),2,"0") + SUBSTR(ALLTRIM(STR(YEAR(DATE()))),3,2) + "1.pdf"
    oWord = createOBJECT("Word.Application")
    oWord.DisplayAlerts = .f.
    oWord.documents.open('t:\cardeals\cardeals.doc')
    oword.ActivePrinter = "\\CSSSERVERONE\Overflow"
    oword.application.printout(,,,,,,,4,,,,,,,,,,,)
    oWord.PrintOut(.F.,.F.,,"c:\output.ps",,,,,,.F.)
    oPDF = CREATEOBJECT ( "PDFDistiller.PDFDistiller.1" )
    oPDF.FileToPDF("c:\output.ps", "&lfilename.", "High Quality" )
    oWord.application.quit
    release oword
    I also wrote a script to attempt to print it from the Adobe printer. It seems to work, but when I go to open the created pdf file it I get the following message:
    Acrobat could not open mypdf.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.
    The code was this:
      Set oWordApp = CreateObject("Word.Application")
        Set oDocument = CreateObject("Word.Document")
        oWordApp.Visible = True
        oWordApp.Application.WindowState = wdWindowStateMinimize
        Set oDocument = oWordApp.Documents.Open("t:\cardeals\cardeals.doc")
        strOutputPDFName = "c:\mypdf.pdf"
        holdprtrdefault = oWordApp.ActivePrinter
        oWordApp.ActivePrinter = "Adobe PDF"
        oWordApp.Application.PrintOut FileName:="t:\cardeals\cardeals.doc", _
            Copies:=1, _
            Range:=wdPrintAllDocument, _
            Item:=wdPrintDocumentContent, _
            Pages:="", _
            PageType:=wdPrintAllPages, _
            Collate:=True, _
            Background:=False, _
            PrinttoFile:=False, _
            OutputFileName:=strOutputPDFName
    If I clkick on the PDFMaker icon iside word, the resultant file is BEAUTIFUL. Can I automate this from within word? If not, does PDFMaker have a command line utility that I could put in a batch file?

    I don't have an answer, but you might get a better response in the scripting forum.

  • How to creat pdf from microsoft word

    How do I edit pdf files

    You don't.  Thats why they are saved as .pdf files to prevent changes.
    You can create PDF files form Word on windows, by printing to a PDF Virtual Printer (you can google this).
    You can create PDF files on a Mac by selecting Print, then clicking PDF on the print screen.
    You can create PDFs on an iOS device with a third party app like 'PDF Printer for iPhone'
