I would sign out of your Apple ID on those devices and also change the password to your Apple ID. That should stop people from accessing and using your Apple ID.

What happens when you click on the price button, what prompts/messages appear ? If you have a balance on your account then that will automatically be used for the purchase, you can't specify how items are charged.

If not then try entering your card's details, it shouldn't be charged (apart from a temporary store holding charge which your card issuer should remove within a few days or so), and you should be able to remove the card after entering it.

I updated to the iOS6, and it allows you to view and send messages with any phone on iOS6 and linked to your iTunes account. You can unselect phones so they dont go out through the phone, but is there a way to block other phones from adding yours? Example, I don't ind being able to see what my son is sending/receiving on his phone but I don't really want him to be abe to add my phone and see all my messages...

How do I sync apps from the same iTunes account to an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 4S and keep correct version for each iOS?

I have an old 3G as well as a 4S. Initially I set up a separate iTunes account for the 4S as I was worried I'd lose my old apps for 3G (as older, compatible versions aren't kept in the iTunes store so once they're gone, they're gone...). 3G is set up to sync with iTunes, 4S is inly syncing mail and conatcts through Exchange but hasn't been synced with an iTunes library for the reason above.
Is there a way to sync both phones off the same iTunes account, so I can set up each phone with some music, as well as apps, without iOS 5 versions overwriting the exisitng apps for the 3G?
To complicate things further, I don't want to sync photos, contacts, messages, etc. I just want to avoid having to duplicate all my music and pay for all the apps all over again. Suggestions?

Thanks for the quick reply! The music part makes sense, good to know I don't have to duplicate the lot. The big question stillr emains as to whether iTunes can cope with two different iPhones, running different versions of the iOS, and therefore different app versions.
Currently all the apps in iTunes are years old, and many haven't updated in months (years?) because the 3G is running iOS 4.2.1 (and can't be upgraded). Many of these have since been updated in the iTunes store (for the various incarnations of iPhone since) and the old versions that my 3G requires have been replaced.
I'm worried that syncing the 4S running iOS 5, and running the most recent updates for same apps, will cause iTunes to overwrite the old 3G compatible ones when I sync. Unless iTunes is smart enough to know which version of the app is for which OS, without updating the legacy version when I update the apps on the 4S?
You guys shouldn't face that problem, as iPad and iPhone apps don't replace each other (I believe? Not sure about this) as new updates are released for each app, you'd have a copy for each device (for example Evernote for iPad, and Evernote for iPhone). I can't figure out if iTunes can handle keeping separate iPhone versions for Evernote iOS 4.2.1 and Evernote for iOS 5. My gut feeling is no, but I want to amke sure before I lose the legacy versions of each app.
Of course, maybe I'm just paranoid and iTunes is in fact perfectly capable of keeping old and new apps in the same library?

I have an old iTunes account on an old PC. I bought a new MacBook Air less than a year ago. When I was at the store, purchasing my new Mac, I couldn't remember my old iTunes account password. The sales rep encouraged me to open a new iTunes account, and assured me I would be able to merge the two accounts. I have put very little music on my new iTunes account, and I want to figure out how to transfer my old account onto my new computer. I am about to purchase the new iPhone, which I will use as my main music source since my old iPod just died. I want to make this transfer before I make my new purchase, as I will be getting a $50 iTunes credit, and I need to know which account to attach it to. (Also, I was given an iTunes credit on my new iTunes account when I purchased my MacBook Air, which I have not fully used yet.)

Also, if both libraries can co-exist on my new computer, it sounds like I will have to choose which library I want to put on my new iPhone, correct? I won't be able to put music from both, is this right?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
Getting the money transferred requires using the form, and that you still have the gift card it came from, and that none of that card's balance has been spent.

Sorry, but you cannot transfer purchases from one iTunes Store account to another. You'll need to continue to use that old account ID for authorizations and re-downloads. If you can't remember the password, you should be able to reset it through this web page:

Go back to your daughter's computer and sign out of your wife's account. (it'll show the account name at the top right corner of the iTunes store window, click the account name and then hit Sign out).
If she knows your password too, change the account password.
It'd probably be best to setup a monthly allowance for your daughter, that way she can only buy $X per month as you designate.

You most likely don't need identities, at least not as Thunderbird uses the term.
Most of us would reply to an email address by replying "from" the address it was sent "to". I wouldn't reply to business emails using my private email address, nor would I reply to private email messages using my work email address. Email software generally goes out of its way to maintain this consistency. So you want to override this built-in behaviour. ;-)
You might find these add-ons useful:
Folder Accounts lets you associate an email address ("identity" in the broader sense) with each folder, so this can force the use of a preferred address.
Correct Identity reads through the message you're writing and picks out a relevant "identity" to use as "from:", depending on whom you are writing to. This helps me avoid using my personal email address to reply to business emails and vice versa. It can also flash up a warning if you try to use an "unapproved" email address in the "from:" field.
I have used Folder Accounts to override the default identity for one or two accounts which are used in a very specific context, such as reporting spam, but it has clashed with newsgroups. Of course, this may not matter to you.
Of the two, Folder Account may suit you best if you don't use Thunderbird to read newsgroups.

If your friend's account is still logged in on it then tap on it in Settings > Store and log out of it and then log in with your account. You can then re-download your apps via the Purchased tab at the bottom of the App Store app (though you may be limited as to which apps you can re-download depending upon what iOS version the phone is on and the app's minimum requirements), and also ibooks and (depending upon which country that you are in) potentially music and tv shows/films : re-downloading.
