How to debug weblogic console extension application ?

Hi,
I am developing a weblogic console extension application with web logic portal framework, I got some error, but no idea how to debug,
I can see some error on buildApplication.jsp file, but can't find __buildapplication.java file which is compiled from buildApplication.jsp,
so I can't know the error is in which line in buildApplication.jsp file. and I dont' even know which tag is tag1 tag2 tag3 in that jsp file.

It is quite easy to rewrite the plugin to work with 8.1

    "Otherwise let me know tools that can tell me threads, memory, cpu, etc and provide notification, etc." -- Hi, I'm familiar with a third-party tool that is suitable for larger deployments, it collects the data you mention for Weblogic instances and also does performance monitoring at the cluster level. Here is a description of their WebLogic integration pack -- http://www.evidentsoftware.com/products/clearstone-for-weblogic/. Hope this helps.

  • How to debug a Mobile client application

    Hi,
    How to debug a mobile client application on the laptop, where we dont have any .NET 2003 application installed. (not an MDW)
    If we get any error on the application, which could be a UI error on laptop, and if everything is working fine on the MDW, is there any way to debug the application on Mobile client?
    Also, please provide me links or tips on how to debug the mobile application, on MDW as well.
    Regards,
    Praveen.

    Hi,
    to be able to debug on a local machine you would need at least to install the UI/BOL class files and the project files and make some local settings.
    But anyway on all clients there should be the same MSA installation like it is on the MDW so in case of an issue it is normally caused by local (inconsistent) data.
    I would suggest to access the laptop IDES database by changing your MDW odbc settings and perform the debug session on the MDW.
    Debugging in VB .net is similar to VB6 but you have to notice that changing of the code is NOT possible when being in debug mode.

  • Weblogic Console or applications not responding and non responsive

    Hi!
    We are using Bea Weblogic 10 app server which is deployed on an AIX(6.1) machine.
    Everything was working fine until 2 days ago.
    What happens is, periodically ( like once every hour) none of the applications work and even the Admin console is not coming up. If we restart the app server it seems to be working but in 50 min or 1 hour nothing responds.
    It is tough to restart the svr so many times. I am trying to find out more about this. The server log seems to be fine and i do not see any specific errors.
    We don't know if changing the port will be the right thing to do.
    If anyone came across a similar issue please do provide your inputs. Thanks in advance!

    Are you working with a Sun (HotSpot) related JVM?
    The JVM ships with a number of tools that can be used, such jconsole, jstat and jmap. Newer versions also have jvisualvm.
    The tools can be found in the ${JDK_HOME}/bin directory.
    Examples of there usage can be found here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7340

    Hello,
    Debugging a JSP using a stack trace is made possible by using the keepgenerated element of the jsp-descriptor element in your web app descriptor in WEB-INF/weblogic.xml. The working-dir and verbose elements are also of interest.
    You can edit weblogic.xml or you can use the Oracle WebLogic Server console to configure your web app. In the console you would go to "Deployments", find your web app, select the "Configuration" tab, Lock & Edit, and do your thing. The settings you are interested in are "Debug Enabled", "JSP Keep Generated", and "JSP Verbose". I'm not sure which weblogic.xml element the "Debug Enabled" corresponds to, but it might be something like the debug-enabled element of the session-descriptor element.
    I can never remember where JSP generated servlet source code files end up if I have not specified a working dir. They end up buried DEEPLY. I just search the file system in my workspace for the generated files. For example, I just found the generated source for my helloOne.jsp in:
    C:\bea_wlp102\user_projects\workspaces\frmwrk\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server.core\tmp0\frmwrk_domain\work\MyWAR\jsp_servlet\_portlets\__helloone.java

  • WL70 Console extension questions

    Hi,
    A couple of questions about Weblogic console extension.
    First, is there any "standard" way of putting that nice banner on top of my JSP
    pages? I've created one using classes "banner", "title", "bannerstatus" from wl:stylesheet,
    but I'm worried that links that I put in it, like
    will not work in the next version of weblogic.
    Second, is it possible to bring up console JSP showing the particular wl:tab rather
    than the first one?
    Thanks,
    Mikhail.

    Donwload SQLMonitor from
    http://www.appfluent.com/products/sqlmonitor/
    It is has console extension for both 7 and 6 and has implemented the
    banner thru one servlet checking the weblogic version.

    Ok, just found the answer for the second question - add a parameter ?tab=TabName
    to URL, but the first question still stands.
    see if the example under dev2dev helps ->

  • Capturing weblogic username and password for use in my console extension

    Hi,
    I have developed a console extension as a war file and it needs to capture the Weblogic username and password so internally it can use the class MBeanServerConnection that needs these during connection. I have therefore created the standard <login-config> <auth-method>FORM</auth-method> ... stuff in the web.xml to output a logon.jsp when my war is accessed in the hope of capturing username and password. My intention is that these would appear in addition to the standard logon that appears when the Weblogic console is 1st accessed.
    However, my console extension logon.jsp does not appear and I think it’s because there is only one logon needed and this is when the main Weblogic console is accessed because my console extension is subordinate to the main Weblogic console.
    Therefore, how can I get my console extension logon.jsp to appear so I can capture the Weblogic username and password?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

    One approach that might work is to write a look and feel console extension that modifies the console's login jsp (vs trying to have a second login jsp).
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13745/rebrand.htm#i1070459 describes how to write look and feel extensions.
    Basically, you instantiate the look and feel extension template, hand-edit login/LoginForm.jsp, then build and deploy the extension.
    One tricky part is figuring out how to pre-compile the jsps. Here's part of a build script I've used for look and feel extensions. Let me know if you need a sample look and feel extension.
    <project name="sample-look-and-feel" default="build">
    <dirname property="this.dir" file="${ant.file.sample-look-and-feel}" />
    <property environment="env" />
    <property name="src.dir" value="${this.dir}/src" />
    <property name="build.dir" value="${this.dir}/build" />
    <property name="webapp.dir" value="${build.dir}/webapp" />
    <property name="jspc.dir" value="${build.dir}/jspc" />
    <property name="samplename" value="sample-look-and-feel" />
    <property name="wlhome.dir" value="${env.WL_HOME}" />
    <property name="consoleapp.dir" value="${wlhome.dir}/server/lib/consoleapp" />
    <property name="deployment" value="${build.dir}/${samplename}.war" />
    <target name="build">
    <!--

  • Cannot start application deployed using Weblogic console after stop

    Hello all,
    I have deployed an ear file using Weblogic console. If the app. is running, I can press stop and get the 404 error...after that I press start, and get a 503 error. Right after the app is deployed, and started, it always comes up fine. But when the application is running, I must click stop, start, stop, start to get the app to start.
    To start the app. I select, start and then "servicing all requests". To stop the app, I select stop and then "Force stop now". I have implemented a subclass of ServletContextListener to handle the start and stop. These methods do get called.
    The 503 did not cause any errors to be found in the weblogic.log, stdout.log or access.log.
    Does anyone have an idea how to start the app after it is stopped the first time?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to debug web app with weblogic?

    I wrote a web app that includes jsp files and some javabeans, then I put the jsp files to directory
    mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp
    then I complied javabeans and put those classes to

    Then I start the weblogic,it runs very well.

    but the web app can not find the new classes.
    Any one know How to debug web app(with javabeans) in weblogic?
    thanks!

    how to config the hot deploy?
    thxSorry, for this delay in responding. I had set notify me with email option in Watch This topic; but I never did get any email notification.
    I use wls6.1; I think the process may be very similar to this in wls8.x. In wls6.1 (sp5), this is done via the -
    Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=False or
    Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=True
    in the startup cmd/sh script. Out of the box, wls6.1 is set to Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=False which automatically enables hot deploys.

  • How to Enable JMX Console in the Weblogic 10.3

    Note : Sorry, i am cross posting this thread from "management", but this is extremely urgent for me and i did not get any response from yesterday. Hope to have a solution atleast from this group.
    I have an application that is JMX enabled. It has its own JMX Agent and some MBeans. When i deploy and launch the application in WebLogic, i am able to connect to the JMX agent via JConsole with the RMI url.
    But when i get into the Weblogic console, i can not see any JMX consoles! So, basically i am trying to see if there is any JConsole equivalent stuff in Weblogic and how to enable it.
    How can i enable the JMX console in Weblogic ?
    Edited by: SureshKrishna on Jun 19, 2009 10:38 AM

    I suggest also this
    http://www.performanceengineer.com/blog/monitoring-weblogic-using-jmx/
    To enable JXM you should add these in the startup script of the server:
    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8888 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false
    then you can access from Jconsole putting this URL in :
    service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/rmi://127.0.0.1:8888/jmxrmi

  • Default Web Application is not visible in Weblogic Console

    We are using Weblogic 5.1.0 SP7
              We moved our Application from the Implicitly Defined Default Web
              Application which is configurated by the
              weblogic properties to a Web Application. Because we don't want to
              change any URL in our Application, we
              decided to deploy it as Explicitly Defined Default Web Application.
              By this we recordniced that the weblogic.httpd.defaultWebApp property
              worked not that way descibed in the
              Weblogic Documentation. You have to write the path to the WebApp not the
              name!
              So we have the following Entry in the weblogic.properties:
              weblogic.httpd.defaultWebApp=i:/if_home2/web
              This works fine. The Server starts and serves the WebApp the way we
              expected. But wenn we start the Weblogic
              Console the WebApp ist not visible in the "myserver/HTTP/Servlet web
              applications" folder. This one is empty
              now! Previously the "General" Entry for the Implicitly Defined Default
              Web Application was shown here, which
              showed our Servlets and JSP's and their hit count and parameters.
              So there is no chance to monitor the Servlets and JSP's of the default
              Web Application.
              I tried to deploy our WebApp a secound time with
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.OurApp=i:/if_home2/web
              but this create a second independent WebApp. OurApp is shown in the
              Weblogic Console but it does not monitor
              the hits to the default WebApp. So this is not a solution!
              Any idea to make the default Web Application visible in the Weblogic
              Console?

    in my development environment i checked in site collection feature, it isn't available in site collection feature but still i am getting those web parts in web part gallery while adding it on page.
    Also, in Production environment, feature is available in /templates/features folder after deployment, but not available in web part gallery while adding it on page.
    I tried with uploading .webpart file which is available in /templates/features production environment as i mentioned, is running for one web part. Not for second web part and giving me security error.
    As, uploading .webpart file is not feasible solution, please tell me how could i do that with .wsp file?
    please tell me what could be another workaround.

  • How to increase JVM Process size for WebLogic running SOA Applications.

    Hi,
    I believe 32 Bit OS can address up to 4GB memory so theoretically 32 Bit JVM can use 4GB but practical convention is 2GB as other 2GB is used by OS itself and also this default JVM Process size is set somewhere and I also believe that if JVM is 32 bit on 64Bit OS even though JVM will run on 32Bit Virtual Machine so JVM does not know that it is 64Bit OS in that case again it can use max Process default size up to 2GB.
    And for 64Bit JVM, I can allocate more than 4GB depend on my available RAM size to Xmx, MaxPermSize parameters in java.exe file and after that I can set the same value in “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” or to “setDomainEnv.cmd” file.
    But I am 99% sure by just assigning more memory value to Xmx, MaxPermSize in “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” file only won’t work (not setting Xmx in java.exe), if it would have worked then in my case when I was assigning 1536 to Xmx in “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” file then why it was showing out of memory error. I think that is because it was only taking default 2GB for my 32 Bit JVM not considering 3GB or 4GB. So i think i have to change default memory size what JVM can use (<http://www.wikihow.com/Increase-Java-Memory-in-Windows-7> but i am using windows 8 so for that I don’t know the option to change this default Process Size)
    I also believe that first JVM start and before start it check how much memory it can use from it’s own –Xmx parameter in some ware configuration or java.exe file and after that it allocate that much size of JVM Process Memory in RAM then after it loads Weblogic or Java Applications in its (Heap + Non-heap + Native Area) which are parts of JVM Process memory
    I read post on :< http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3143579/how-can-jvm-use-more-than-4gb-of-memory > and < http://alvinalexander.com/blog/post/java/java-xmx-xms-memory-heap-size-control >
    All used  :
    java -Xmx64m -classpath ".:${THE_CLASSPATH}" ${PROGRAM_NAME}
    java –Xmx6g     //command which will call java/JVM interpreter which will hold –Xmx parameter to set Heap size for JVM
                                    before JVM comes in memory (JVM process memory)
    now my question is can I manually open any configuration file or java.exe same like “setSOADomainEnv.cmd” or “setDomainEnv.cmd” (I know since java.exe is exe I can’t open simply but I want similar work around)
    so that I don’t need to type java –Xmx6g every time when I run weblogic (and then later I can change weblogic “setDomainEnv.cmd” Xmx and PermSize to more than default size 4GB to 5GB or 6GB in the case of 64Bit OS)
    Please correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.
    Thanks.

    These days the VM will detect a "server" machine and set up the memory appropriate for that.
    You can create a simple java console application and have it print the memory settings (find the appropriate java class fort that.)
    There is of course the possibility that your application is running out of memory because it is doing something wrong and not because the VM doesn't have enough memory.  You can force that in a test setup by LOWERING the maximum amount of memory and thus making it more likely that an out of memory exception will occur.
