  • How to make a JPanel containing buttons  take up the width of the window?

    I'm creating a GUI and I have a button group that I want to be the width of the window. I have another JPanel on the same window that doesn't have a button group in it and it takes up the width of the window. I don't think I'm doing anything differently creating the two, but I need consistency.
    The best way I can explain this is with code, so I created an example of what I am doing here:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class test extends JFrame {
         public test() {
              JPanel win = new JPanel();
              JPanel buttonsPanel = new JPanel();
              JPanel statusPanel = new JPanel();
              win.setLayout(new BoxLayout(win, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS));
              buttonsPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(buttonsPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS));
              statusPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(statusPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS));
    //          createRadioButtonsPanel
              ButtonGroup buttons = new ButtonGroup();
              JRadioButton currentMap = new JRadioButton("option1", true);
              JRadioButton newMap = new JRadioButton("option2");
              JRadioButton noMap = new JRadioButton("option3");
              buttons.add(currentMap);
              buttons.add(newMap);
              buttons.add(noMap);
              buttonsPanel.add(currentMap);
              buttonsPanel.add(newMap);
              buttonsPanel.add(noMap);
              buttonsPanel.setBorder(
                        BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Create: "));
    //           createStatusPanel
              JLabel statusLabel = new JLabel("Loading...");
              statusLabel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createLoweredBevelBorder());
              statusLabel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(400,20));
              statusLabel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(400,20));
              statusLabel.setMaximumSize(new Dimension(400,20));
              statusPanel.add(statusLabel);
              JPanel statusButtons = new JPanel(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.RIGHT));
              JButton pauseSearch = new JButton("Pause");
              JButton cancelSearch = new JButton("Cancel");
              statusButtons.add(pauseSearch);
              statusButtons.add(cancelSearch);
              statusPanel.add(statusButtons);
              statusPanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Status: "));
              win.add(buttonsPanel);
              win.add(statusPanel);
              getContentPane().add(win);
              pack();
              setVisible(true);
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              test s = new test();
    }When I compile and run this class I get this window:
    http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1538/exampleek5.png
    You see how on the bottom, "Status" JPanel takes up the entire width of the window? When the window is resized, the border is also resized. I would love to have the top "Create" JPanel have the same behavior. How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance!

    It can get confusing when using the BoxLayout. The box layout takes into consideration the X alignment of the components as well as the minimum and maximum lengths.
    So I suggest you read the Swing tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/box.html]How to Use Box Layout for examples and explanations on how these values are used in the layout process.
    It may be easier to use a BorderLayout for the high level layout manger, since it will resize a components width when added to the NORTH, CENTER or SOUTH.

  • How to change the width of the whole portlet layout?

    Dear all,
    As we know, now the width of portlet layout has set to 100%. But there is a new requirment from my customer that the width of the whole portlet layout view must be set to 750px.
    So I tried to edit the css file and I found a block:
    #pt-portal-content-view
         margin-top: 0px;
         width: 100%;
    I tried to change the width to 750px, but nothing happened.
    I want to know the way to change the width, thank you all!
    Regards,
    finall
    OK,I have found the place to do it:
    .portalContent          {
         display: block;
         width: 750px;
    I set to 750px,then it works.:-)
    But another question, how to make the content align to the center? I tried a stupid method, add margin-left:
    .portalContent          {
         display: block;
         width: 750px;
         margin-left: 120px;
    In 1024 X 768, it's ok, but it don't work well in 800 X 600.
    When I set the all content width to 750px, I tried the three columns view, the portlet still run over the border.If there is any way to control this? thank u in advance!
    Regards,
    finall

    Try this:
    .portalContent {
    display: block;
    width: 750px;
    margin: auto; /* for properly-implemented browsers */
    text-align: center; /* for IE 6 */
    As for running over the 750px, there's nothing you can do about that other than actually narrowing the columns AND making sure that your portlet authors don't produce content that's too wide.

  • How to change the width of the bar of bar charts?

    Hi,
    I am using Crystal Reports 11.
    I created some stacked bar charts. Now, I want to change the width of the bar. Some one told me that I can't do that because it's totally controlled internally by Crystal Reports.
    Really?
    If could, how could I do?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    The only way you can set the width of the bar is by going to Chart Options (Right-click Chart in Preview Mode > Chart Options > Appearance tab > Decrease the Gap Width).
    Hope this helps!

  • Decrease the width of the bars in the chart

    Hello,
    Can anyone please tell me how can I decrease the width of the bars in the flash chart type 3D column.
    Thanks,
    Orton

    Hi Deyang,
    You have to create your own layout:
    - Navigate to System Administration->Support
    - Choose Portal Runtime -> Browse Deployment
    - Navigate under pcd or under temp, and download the layouts par (com.sap.portal.layouts.default.par.bak if I recall correctly)
    - Import that par as a project to Developer Studio
    - Make your changes (create a new jsp acording to the existing examples, and update the portalapp.xml accordingly)
    - Export to par (in a different name!) and deploy
    - In the portal content: new from par -> Layout (don't forget to mark it as a template).
    - Your new layout template will now be available when you create new pages.
    good luck!

  • How to increase the width of the Crystal Report

    Hello All
    How to increase the width of the Crystal report template in the CR designer in .NET 2005 editor ?
    I need to design a report which has to accomodate more number of columns.So achieve that i need to redesign the report having more width.
    CrystalReports version 10.2.3600.0
    Thanks in advance
    Srivatsa

    HI Srivatsa,
    You can make a wider report by creating virtual pages. Virtual pages are the extra pages to the right of the main page that get created to accommodate cross-tabs that are wider than a single page. By inserting a cross-tab in a report then suppressing it, you can create a report that is multiple pages wide.
    Insert and Suppress a Cross-Tab
    1. On the 'Insert' menu, click 'Cross-Tab'.
    2. In the Cross-Tab Expert, click any field and move it into the 'Columns' box, and click any field and move it into the 'Summarized Fields' box. Do not move any fields into the 'Rows' box.
    3. Click the 'Customize Style' tab and select the following check boxes:
    " Suppress Empty Rows
    " Suppress Empty Columns
    " Suppress Row Grand Totals
    " Suppress Column Grand Totals
    4. Click the 'OK' button and then insert the cross-tab into the Report Header section.
    5. On the 'Report' menu, click 'Format Sections'. Click 'Report Header' and select the 'Underlay Following Sections' check box.
    When you run the report you will not see the cross-tab, but you will be able to scroll to the right and see multiple virtual pages.
    ====================
    NOTES:
    " As there are no rows to the Cross-Tab, it does not carry on to Page 2 and the virtual pages do not appear past the first page.
    " To increase or decrease the number of virtual pages do one of the following:
    - Limit the number of records for the field in the 'Column' box of the 'Cross-Tab Expert' using the 'Select Expert'.
    - Change the width of the 'Column' field in the Cross-Tab by moving the edges of the field.
    ====================
    How to Insert Fields on Virtual Pages
    You cannot drag-and-drop a field onto a virtual page, you can only do so on the main page. To get a field to appear on a virtual page:
    1. Insert the field on the main page.
    2. Click the 'Preview' tab.
    3. Drag the right edge of the field to the right, onto the virtual page.
    4. Drag the left edge of the field to the right, onto the virtual page.
    Hope this helps!!
    Regards,
    Shweta

  • How to increase the width of the drop down list box in SSRS multi value parameter

    Hi,
    I am using SSRS 2012. I have a parameter, which accepts multi value.
    The width of the drop down list box is very small, and the user need to scroll to the right to view the complete view of the content in the list box. But, if I don't use multi value then the length is good.  Kindly suggest how to I increase the width
    of the list box when it set to multi value parameter.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahalengam Arumugam

    Hi Mahalengam,
    After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it. When the values for a single parameter are too long, the drop-down list of the parameter will automatically enlarge to an appropriate size. While the values for a multiple parameter are
    too long, we need to scroll to the right to view the complete view of the content in the list box in SSRS 2008. But in SSRS 2008R2 and SSRS 2012, we can directly drag the black control at the bottom of the list box to control the size.
    The following screenshot is for your reference:

    Hi Katherine,
    Thanks for your reply. I understood we need to drag the list box to a maximum size to view the contents.
    But, this seems an additional task, i know this is a limitation in the current version of SSRS and hope it will be resolved in the next versions.
    Thanks for your efforts,

  • How do I change the width of the x-scrollbar for a waveform graph?

    I have a LV7.1 application that contains a waveform graph and must be usable on several PC with widely varying screen resolutions.  I have decided to position and scale the front panel objects programatically, including the graph itself.  The appearance of the graph is satisfactory on all screens, except for the x-scrollbar.  The width of the x-scrollbar does not change when I change the size of the graph.  I cannot figure out how to change the width of the scrollbar programatically to match the adjusted size of the graph.  Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Chris

    Chris,
    I don't think that you can change the width of the x axis scroll bar programatically.  One thing you could do though is create your own scrollbar and change it's properties as your program runs.  I wrote a quick example of how you could do this and I've attached it to this thread.
    I hope this helps,

  • How to change the width of the field?

    Hi all,
    I would like to decrease the width of a field on my report.
    But I can't do it in the Property palette. I am not able to change the width property. The width of the database column is varchar2(255). I do not want to decrease the length of the database column, but only the width property of the field.
    Any ideas?
    Regards
    Leonid Pavlov

    You can't change that from where you are trying because that info is coming from the database. To resize the field just open the layout editor and size the field to the size you want.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    How to change the form widths for the EditForm.aspx and NewForm.aspx files that display both new and edited list entries?

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to modify the width of the New Form and Edit Form of a list in SharePoint 2010 .
    1.Go to your SharePoint site -> your list.
    2.In top ribbon click  List tab(List Tools).
    3.Towards right you will see option as Form Web Parts, click on it, the three forms will be listed there [New Form, Display Form, Edit Form].
    4.Select the one on which you want to increase the width/height.
    5.It will open in edit mode, click on Add a Web Part.
    6. Click on Forms [Categories] => HTML Form Web Part.
    7.After adding the HTML Form Web Part, click on Edit WebPart.
    8.Click on Source Editor, Remove all code from it and put an empty HTML table with width and height as per your requirement ex. to increase width
    <TABLE WIDTH="800px">
    <TR><TD></TD></TR>
    </TABLE>
    9.Save the form and check out your respective modal by clicking on the same in your list view.

  • How to adjust the width of the accordion widget

    I'm builting my 2nd wesbite with Muse and cannot find a way to decrease the width size of the accoidion widget to fit my grid. When I try to decrease it it just "jumps" back to its original spot.
    I may be going crazy but I can't seem to find any information on this in the forums. I'm sure it's a simple fix I just cannot find it. Any help would be appreciated!

    Reduce the width of the inner most container which is the usually the Text frame for each of the panels. Then you would be able to resize the width of the overall Accordion. Its just that the width of the Content Area cannot be less than that of the Text Frame inside.
    Thanks,
    Vinayak
