How to define primary interaction based on hierarchy level

I have a 3 level product dimension, such as brand, product type, and product. Now I want to define primary interaction based on the level. If click on brand or product type, it will be drill down. If click on product, it will be send master-detail. Since there is only one column for this dimension on the report when report is constructed, how can I apply different interaction based on the product level?

iif you are trying to do a normal hierarchical drill down from brand down to product type down to product, and if they are defined so in your database, defining a normal hierarchy is suffice.
iif you are trying to navigate to a different level in a hierarchy, do a pre-defined drill down.
all the above options must be defiend in RPD.
if your Q is not answered can you please elaborate further with the existing example.

Different Calculations based on Hierarchy Level

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to do different calculations of results based on the hierarchy level.
For example:
Level A - (total of maximums)
             Level B.1 - (maximum)
             Level B.2 - (maximum)
                    Level C
I need Level B to be the maximum and Level A to bo the total of the maximum values in Level B.
For example I may have a maximum in B.1 of 100 and a maximum of 200 in B.2
I then need to get a total of 300 in appearing in level A. Currently if I apply the maximum in the calculate results, it displays 200 in level A.
I then need to use these numbers at each level in formulas.
I am using BI 7.0.
Any ideas?

According to your description, you want to apply condition with only one case statement which can affect any product region dimension. Right?
In Analysis Services, it's not supported to use one reference pointing to all available dimensions which the lower level hierarchy has same name. In this scenario, it's better to create one dimension which combines all the products region. You can have a
higher level for [Product-XX Region].

How to commit primary key in a multi level form

I am using Jdeveloper 10.1.2.3. ADF - Struts jsp application.
I have an application that has multiple levels before it finally commits, say:
Level 1 - enter name , address, etc details -- Master Table Employee
Level 2 - Add Education details -- Detail Table Education
Level 3 - Experience -- Detail Table Experience.
Level 4 - adding a Approver -- Detail Table ApplicationApproval
In all this from Level 1 I generate a document number which is the primary key that links all these tables.
Now if User A starts Level 1 and moves to level 2,he gets document no = 100 and then User B starts Level 1 and also gets document no = 100 because no commit is executed.
Now I have noticed that system crashes if User B calls a vo.validate().
How can I handle this case as Doc no is the only primary key.

This is what my department has been doing even before I joined and its been working for our multi user environment for these many years.
We have a table called DOC_SRNO which will hold a row for our start docno , next number in running sequence. the final number. We have this procedure that returns next num to calling application and increments the next num by 1 in the table. and final commit on the application commits all this.
I am not sure how this was working so far but each of those applications were for different employees. I am assuming this is how it worked.
Now in the application that I am working on, has no distinct value. So two users could generate the same docno and proceed.
I will try the DB sequence but here is what I tried. I call the next num from DOC_SRNO and I commit this table update and then proceed with this docno so at a time both gets different docno's.
But my running session crashes when I go to next level to insert into the detail table of my multi level form. Here when I try to get the current row from the vo which is in context, it crashes.
Here's the steps.
Three tables : voMainTable1 and voDetailTable1 and voDetailTable2.
voMainTable1 on create row1- I generate new docno - post changes
voMainTable1 on create row2- I genrate another docno - post changes
set voMainTable1 in context
Now I call voDetailTable1 and to get the docno to join master detail, I try to get voMainTable1.getCurrentRow. Here it crashes.

OBIEE 11g: Fact table does not have a properly defined primary key

We have two fact tables and two dimension tables.
We have joined the tables like
D1-->F1
D2-->F2
D1-->D2
We dont have any hieracies.
It is throwing error in consistency check,
[nQSError: 15001] Could not load navigation space for subject area ABC.
[nQSError: 15033] Logical table Fact1 does not have a properly defined primary key.
It is not like STAR Schema, its like snowflake schema. How to define primary key for fact table.

My suggestion would be bring both the facts to the same logical table sources and have a single fact table in the BMM layer joined with multiple dimensions.
Build a dimension hierarchy for the dimensions and then in the content logical layer mapping, map the dimensions to the fact tables with detailed level/Total

I want 4 level :

In Product hierarchy I have a string store 4 level like 01.001.0001

Ours is a Chemical Mfg./ Marketing Company. We have ECC 5.0 version implemented in our Company. We have the Production process orders of different types ( Normal Process order , Reprocess Process order etc.). For the purpose of MIS it is our regular practice to download data in Worksheets & then work upon it ( pivot tables etc.) & compile the reports. We have the requirement to have SKU wise ( Finished Goodswise ) summarised compilation of different type of Variances ( both Qty. , value of input materials, wherever applicable) .

As suggested in the response to that query I have followed the steps .
KKRV followed by KKRC . The error message after executing KKRC reads
No IDs defined for Hierarchy type CO
Diagnosis No Hierarchy id is defined in customising for the hierarchy type you selected
Procedure : go in to the customising and define the structure of hierarchy by means of an appropriate Hierarchy ID.
Can some one give me further leads ( i.e. navigation/path and clues for defining Hierarchy ID)
Or
is there any other way to address the requirement mentioned in opening para.

Now, I need for Option to have a composite primary key based on both its
fields. How do I do this?
For starters, I just need a few hints on how this should be done in Kodo
because I already have this thing working in JPOX and that solution does
not map directly to Kodo. JPOX defines the OptionPK (primary key class)
to contain field ApplicationPK, and not Application. But Kodo does not
accept this because of a mismatch between fields in class and its primary
key class. (Not implying that Kodo should accept the same kind of
solution.)
Btw, I'm evaluating version 3.2.3.

The typical Kodo pattern for doing this is to create a private field in
Option for each primary key in Application, map those fields as
primary-key (but not the field of type Application), and therefore put
those fields in the OptionPK. These fields should then be mapped to the
same columns as the Application reference. Then, set the primary key
fields to the same value as they are in the related object.
Kodo allows multiple fields to be mapped to the same column in the
database, and throws an exception if your actions would set the column
to different values. So, typically, this might look like:

How to create a report based on a DataSet programatically

I'm working on a CR 2008 Add-in.
Usage of this add-in is: Let the user choose from a list of predefined datasets, and create a totally empty report with this dataset attached to is. So the user can create a report based on this dataset.
I have a dataset in memory, and want to create a new report in cr2008.
The new report is a blank report (with no connection information).
If I set the ReportDocument.SetDataSource(Dataset dataSet) property, I get the error:
The report has no tables.
So I must programmatically define the table definition in my blank report.

I want to create a DFF which would have 5 different context values, i want 2 of them to be available in one organization and other 3 in other organization, how i can achieve this.

1- I will create a customized table having two columns one is for context name and other is for org_id,
2- then i will create a value set on this table and will use this on 'Value Set' field on 'Descriptive Flexfield Segments' window.
3- In the where clause of this value set i will pass org_id from profile $PROFILES$.ORG_ID,
4- this will restrict the context based on org_id And user will only have context related to there org
I have successfully achieved the above requirment.
Find below the restriction you should follow so that Value set is available in LOVs on "Descriptive Flexfield Segments" window:
Value sets used for context fields must obey certain restrictions or they will not be available to use in the Value Set field in the Context Field region of the Descriptive
Flexfield Segments window:
• Format Type must be Character (Char)
• Numbers Only must not be checked (alphabetic characters are allowed)
• Uppercase Only must not be checked (mixed case is allowed)
• Right-justify and Zero-fill Numbers must not be checked
• Validation Type must be Independent or Table
If the validation type is Independent:
• the value set maximum size must be less than or equal to 30
If the validation type is Table:
• the ID Column must be defined, it must be Char or Varchar2 type, and its size must
be less than or equal to 30. The ID column corresponds to the context field value
code (the internal, non-translated context field value).
• the Value Column must be defined, it must be Char or Varchar2 type, and its size
must be less than or equal to 80. The Value column corresponds to the context field
value name (the displayed context field value).
• the value set maximum size must be less than or equal to 80
All context field values (the code values) you intend to use must exist in the value set. If
you define context field values in the Context Field Values block of the Descriptive
Flexfield Segments window that do not exist in the context field value set, they will be
ignored, even if you have defined context-sensitive segments for them.

How to create a report based on selected item from Select list?

Hi,
I have created a tables_LOV based on:
select table_name d, table_name r from user_tab_cols
where column_name like '%_type%'
Then I created a page item ListOfTables, Display as select list and pointing to tables_LOV.
I run the page, and i can select the table i want from the drop down list.
How to create a report based on the selected item? (ex: select * from selected_table)

I think that simulates what you're trying to accomplish. I've set up the simplest method I could think of.
The report is based on an apex collection. If you are not familiar with that, you should study the documentation: APEX_COLLECTION
To recreate my example you should:
1) create an (interactive) report on your collection
SELECT *
   FROM APEX_collections
WHERE collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION'
2) create a page_item select list for the tables you want to display (in my case this is called "P38_TABLES" )
3) create a dynamic action that triggers on change of your select list page_item. The dynamic action must be a PL/SQL procedure perfoming the following code:

if apex_collection.collection_exists
        ( p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION' )

    apex_collection.delete_collection

Make sure you add your page_item to the "Page Items to Submit" section.
4) Add an extra true action that does a refresh of the report region.
