How to delete a in place record that will not undeclare

I have an "in-place" record that will not let me undeclare itself, not sure how it got created but here are some facts about it:
when i first looked at it showed as checked out to (blank).  This is different from all of my other in-place records which show as checked out to "System Account".  I tried checking it out to me (and it let me) which was strange!!  When I
try to undeclare it as a record by using the "compliance details" interface and click the undeclare record link, the reocrd status is changed from "Declared record on 1/17/2011" to "Record".  When I go back to the UI it still shows the record with the
little lock on it.  If I try to delete the record using the library interface I get the message: "The item cannot be updated because it is locked as read-only".  I installed sharepoint manager 2010 (from codeplex) on my server and navigated to this
item in the list and checked out the properties...
in this tool it says "IsReadOnly" = false
if I look at the individual properties of the item i see properties like
ecm_ItmLockHolders  value = ecm_InPlaceRecordLock
ecm_ItemDeleteBlockHOlders value= ecm_InPlaceRecordLock
I suspect that this is why ic cannot get rid of the bloody record...  i don't know why undeclare doesn't take these locks off (Perhaps because someohw it got checked out to someone other than system).  I even tried going iinto the content database
to set the CheckedOutTo column to null.  when i did this nothing happened
i tried setting the id equal to the "system account" Id in the content database and the record vanished from the document library (although I can still see it in the content database)...
this is a big mystery for me... all i want is to get rid of a record that somehow has been "corrupted"  we have been demoing some third party applications which upload to sharepoint and prerhaps they got the file in this state (its an email .msg format)...
i definitely need to know the recommended way to clean a record that will not let you undeclare it... help!  my next course of action will be a ms support call...
krd

the record was declared as part of info mgmt policy (created +1 days, delcare record), then i have another step (declared record + 1 day, start a workflow).  I'm trying to delete the record using a workflow (because the OOTB disposition workflow doesn't
work, i'm trying to create my own disposition workflow which undeclares the record first then deletes it).  But that is a bit of a side story (I haven't managed to get that working...)

  • HT1338 how do I boot a MacBook pro that will not shut down

HOw can I reboot shut don MacBook pro that will not shutdown, please help.....?......

Hi, I'm having similar problem. I just got a Lacie ext drive to back up my photos and vids and now my laptop wont shut down or go to sleep properly.  May or may not be related to Lacie. Could just be a coincidence.
I first noticed problem when I closed it to go to sleep and the apple logo kept flashing on and off.
When I opened the laptop the screen was flashing white then black, then white then black.   Had to force shut
it down (opt, cmnd, power), had to hold it down a very long time before it responded.  However, that didn't keep it shut down. It just started back up again.  But at least it wasn't flashing.
Then when i tried to shut it down normally it would shut down, go black for a moment and then the Apple song would play and it would start  back up again.    It also won't stay asleep. It sleeps for two seconds when put into sleep mode then snaps awake.
strange problem... Very annoying. Next option is to unplug and let battery run out.

  • How can I salvage an iPad Mini that will not restart, reset or respond to Recover phase via iTunes and is not responding to any functions and will not access Home? Thanks

I have an iPad mini that will not respond and is non functional.  It continues to intermittently try to automatically restart, access home page without success.  It will not accept normal charge. I have tried to manually restart, reset and have been unsuccessful.  It will not allow a Recover attempt via iTunes as well.  Do you have any suggestions before I consider a replacement?  Thanks.

    Hello RC MD,
It seems you are unable to restore your iPad to factory settings, and it is not responding to power. Based on the information you have provided, it appears your iPad may need to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.

  • Thunderbird on Ubuntu; receives duplicate imap & pop3 for same user name- how to delete imap? (says 'in use', will not allow entry into Settings)

Frontier is a telco that has changed to Yahoo mail recently.
Thunderbird on Ubuntu 14 LTS behaves somewhat differently than on a Windows machine; I can open Account Settings and will see 2 duplicate account entries in the left panel, but when I clcik on either accounts Server Settings, I only get a blocking message that says "Account Name in Use. Please enter a different account name." I'm unable to determine which is imap or pop, or delete anything...
Thanks for any help in advance!

    Update to my original discussion:
If the problem persists, rinse & repeat steps from the original post.
Alternate Solution: If problem still persists and your imap email is not syncing correctly, call customer support of your email provider (in my case it was GoDaddy). Tell them the problem and ask them to do a "ReSync". Make sure your imap email account is set up on your iPhone before they perform the resync. I tried this and its been a week since I had any problems. If you're lucky this could fix other problems that are not listed in this discussion thread.
    Good luck & Cheers.

  • How to quit an app from dock that will not quit!

I wanted to turn off my computer, but it asked me to quit mail. So i try to quit mail and it will not quit. Then i tried dragging it into trash, and onto the dock to get deleted but that would not work either. It won't delete or quit anywhere. And when I click "file", quick mail is not even an option! Help please

Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu and shut it down from there. If that doesn't work, save and close everything you can and use the Activity Monitor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to force quit the loginwindow process.

  • How can I update my iPod classic that will not mount on iMac computer?

I can't update my iPod classic from my iTunes on my iMac computer with OSX 10.9.  It will not mount or be recognized by iTunes version 12.1.
I plug it into the USB port and it charges, gives the "Do not disconnect" symbol but the computer does not recognize or mount the iPod at all.  I haven't been able to update the music for years. I have four other devices associated with my Apple ID for automatic downloads. Is it too antiquated to upload any of my music from my computer to it anymore?

  • How do I make a new file that will not have to be rendered again?

This is a little complicated but I've tried everything and still can't find a solution.
    Here's what I'm doing:
    1. Record footage with my Canon HV 30 in 1080 30p mode.
    2. I import it into Final Cut Studio 6. Plays back fine.
    3. I add chroma key and garbage matts to get rid of green screen. Now it has to be rendered to play back at all.
    4. So, I'm trying to make a new movie out of the footage with the chroma key so that I can then import it and play it back without having to render every time a move something.
I know it has to be exported in the same format as the FC file in order to do this, but when I do that I don't get an alpha channel so the places where the green screen was is now black instead of see through.
I tried saving in animation and "no compression" with the alpha channel but then it won't play back without the rendering again.
Am I asking to do the impossible?
Thanks. And I'm sort of new to this so please keep it simple.

Hey there, wireduck! There are two ways to render out keyed footage.
If you export to animation codec (choose millions of colors + ),
I believe you need to export from an UNrendered FCP sequence.
So make sure your sequence has the little red or orange lines, then export.
This should produce a file with a good alpha channel.
The problem is that the animation codec is big and processor-intensive,
as is your other HDV footage. So it might work, but you'll get bogged down
    at some future point.
A cool trick is to convert the entire sequence to the DVCPRO HD codec.
It's really easy for your computer to digest, and it looks great.
Now here's the trick to export the alpha channel as a separate file.
On your keyed clip, after the other effects (color smoothing, key),
add the Channel Swap filter, and set red, blue, and green from alpha.
By doing this, you are making the RGB channels display your alpha channel.
Export this (DVCPRO HD) and name it the same as your clip,
but with something like "-alpha" at the end so you can keep track of it.
    Import it.
In your sequence (sequence settings DVCPRO HD, yes?), place the original
footage--with all the keying and channel effects disabled--on V3.
Set its Composite Mode to Travel Matte - Luma.
Directly below that, on V2, perfectly aligned to the original clip,
place your -alpha clip with normal composite mode.
Now put your background on V1.
You should see the composite working, and three tracks of DVCPRO HD
should play on your computer OK without needing to render.
Just keep the original clip (on V3) and its alpha version (on V2)
perfectly in sync, and you can edit and add other effects.
This should work for you. Good luck!

  • How to reinstall OS on Macbook Pro that will not boot

I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro that is stuck on the grey screen with apple logo and progress bar. I'm going to get all my data off of it and then I want to wipe everything off of it and re-install the OS so it is like factory again.
Do i need a disk? What is the simplest way to do this?

Can you inform me on how to format the new hard drive once I receive it?
You will have to connect the new HDD to the MBP via USB (you will need to install the HDD in an enclosure).
    Boot into the recovery partition.
Select Disk Utility from the 4 option menu.
Open Disk Utility>Erase, select the new HDD from the left hand column and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format and click on the erase button.
Exit Disk Utility and select the reinstall OSX option from the 4 option menu.
    Install the OSX.
Restart the MBP with the OPTION key down.  Select the new HDD icon and boot the MBP.
If successful, install the new HDD into the MBP.
    Ciao.
Also, should I even bother re-installing the OS after there is a new hard drive installed? Would it make any difference?
You need an OSX in order for the MBP to function.
    Ciao.

    Hello My Superiors,
I have an A1229 late 2007 2.4 or 2.6 Core 2 Duo 4GB 150GB 17" (my 10.5.8 won't boot past the grey apple screen - it shuts down) and I am trying to install 10.6.3. After a dozen false starts where the disc was spit out after 10 minutes, uninstalled, It accepted about 20% of the install and then stopped, shutting down. I tried repairing the HD using DU but it told me to reformat the HD. My 10.6.3 disc is still is the machine and the installation start loads and I can't get the disc out?
How do I get the disc out?
    Thanks in advance!

  • How do I retrieve data from Macbook that will not turn on?

My 17" laptop stopped turning on. I can hear it booting up with its bong but the screen stays black. If I press the keys, I get a weird plink plink sound. I updated to Snow Leopard about a year ago.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

You can take the computer to your local Apple Store/AASP and get free diagnostic tests and an estimate for repair.
As far as retrieving data, you might be able - if your hard drive isn't dead - to purchase a USB enclosure for the drive - such as this one - and connect it to your repaired Mac or to another Mac. If the drive is damaged, you may not be able to recover the data or you may have to use a utility such as DiskWarrior to even try to recover your data.
    Good luck,
