How to delete duplicates

hello,
there are some photos i want to keep stored on my camera for a while, but is there any way round not importing these same ones over and over again to iphoto each time i import the new photos i have taken? i think its probably clogging up the library a bit as its very slow...

If the avoid duplicates is not working in iPhoto you will have to use Image Capture to select and upload your photos into iPhoto. Launch it and in it's preferences change iPhoto to Image Capture as the application to launch when your camera is connected.

I'm with you verm71; it's not entirely clear how Apple is expecting you to manage this. I'm going on vacation soon and want to clean up my phone so that it's nice and empty for the new pictures. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this without losing your pictures in the new Photos as well. If imported, it's impossible to see which is the Cloud version and which is the Local version. It's very annoying.
I've also noticed in iPhoto you used to have the ability to locate the original of the picture inside the photo database. That option is not provided in Photos, making finding the original extremely difficult.
It seems to be a great, well-oiled system. But I would love to know how Apple envisions the typical workflow for archiving...

Does anyone know how to delete duplicate photographs I seem to have so many, is this anything to do with photostream as I have an ipad as well. I have over 7000 photos and find it impossible to find them all. When I first got Apple 9 years ago there was a drop down menu that found all duplicates which you could then delete but that was taken off at some point. I would be really gratful for some help i am not savvy with the technical side of computing.

about "duplicate records" could you be more precise?.
The must be at least one different Characteristic to distinguish one record from the other (at least Request ID). In order to delete Data from InfoCubes (selectively) use ABAP Report RSDRD_DELETE_FACTS (be carefull it does not request any confirmation as in RSA1 ...).
About MM and SD Cubes see RSA1 -> Business Content -> InfoProvider by InfoAreas. See also for MetadataRepository about the same InfoProviders.
About DataSources just execute TCode LBWE in you source sys: there you see all LO-Cockipt Extrators.

I am trying to download the object DNL_CUST_BASIS2.
In the SMQ2 the status is SYSFAIL.
I checked in the ST22 for dumps.It says about the error while accessing the table T006.
While analysing this,i found some duplicate entries in the related tables of this object.
Can somebody help me how to delete these duplicate entries?

Delete them directly from the table using se16:
select the entries in the classic view (not ALV or grid view).
activate the debugger.
press the view button. --> you'll enter in the debugger
press F7
locate the sy-ucomm variable & change it to "DELE".
press F8
delete the entries.

Dupin may be what you need. If you have the same song as part of different albums then, in my opinion, these aren't really duplicates. Personally I wouldn't throw away some of the tracks on the Beatles "White Album" because I also have them on the "Blue Album".
For some more thoughts, including tips on how to manually delete duplicates if you have the patience, see this post. It's written from a PC perspective so you may need to use Option or Cmd instead of Shift or Ctrl.

Hello all. Good question and good answers, but I would like to elaborate.
To begin with, you specifically asked to map the following:
{apple,orange,grape,apple,apple,banana} ==> {apple,orange,grape,banana}
Both of cotton.m's solutions do NOT do this, unfortunately. They are both useful in particular cases though, so think about what you're trying to do:
cotton.m's first solution is best if order does not matter. In fact, as flounder first stated, whenever order doesn't matter, your most efficient bet is to use a Set instead of a List (or Vector) anyways.
Set vectB = new HashSet(vectA);This code maps to {banana, orange, grape, apple}, because HashSets are "randomly" ordered.
cotton.m's second solution is good if you want to impose NEW ordering on the List.
Set vectB = new TreeSet(vectA);This code maps to {apple, banana, grape, orange}, because TreeSet uses alphabetical-order on Strings by default.
java_2006, your solution is the most correct, but it's a little verbose for my taste :)
more importantly, the runtime-efficiency is pretty bad (n-squared). calling Vector.contains performs (at worst) n comparisons; you're going to call it n times! Set.contains usually performs 2 comparisons (constant, much better), so I suggest you USE a Set to do the filtering, while still sticking with your good idea to use a List. When the ordering is "arbitrary" (so can't use TreeSet) but still relevant (so can't use HashSet), you're basically talking about a List.
I think saving A LOT of time is worth using A LITTLE extra space, so here, let's save ourself some runtime, and some carpal-tunnel.

Hi,
You can try to restrict in the filter area in query designer with the values for characteristic which gives correct
result.
But still i would suggest that in the cube you keep not the duplicate records as this is not your requirement and giving
you wrong result.
So you can reload the correct records in the cube inorder to avoid such problems even in future.
