How to download macbook pro (mid 2010) drivers for windows 7, without the included DVD (lost) ?
Hello everyone,
I am facing a problem with bootcamp on my Macbook pro 15" (Mid 2010, running Mos OS 10.6.6).
I have successfully installed windows 7 via Bootcamp, but I lost the Drivers DVD furnished by Apple.
I tried to download these using Bootcamp (v3.0.4), but bootcamp won't let me save it, i get this error :
"the windows support software could not be saved to the selected folder"
An Apple support article has been made for this problem ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3648 ), but it doesn't solve the problem in my case because I lost the furnished DVD.
So here I am, struck on this drivers issue...
So, my question is :
How to download macbook pro (mid 2010) drivers for windows 7, without the included DVD (lost) ?
Thank you for your help !
Regards
Aw, and I forgot, being in Thailand, they do not sell the installation DVD.

Hi I have 15" MacBook Pro, Core i7 , NVidia 650 GT M.
I am installing windows 7 on it now I need its drivers. I am not using boot camp because its so slow and i have waited for 6 hrs but it didnt fully download the drivers so it bothered me and I just closed it .
Now is there someone who can refer me to some site where i can download Hardware Drivers for my MAC Book Pro Manually plzz?
I need it
I dont wanna use Boot Camp plz.No, I am not using it virtually, Its installed saperately . Actually From BootCamp i just Installed Windows and unchecked other Driver and support downloading options because they were taking so much time to download the drivers. Now Windows 7 is installed. Now I again switched to MAC and tried to download the drivers from Boot Camp (Just the Drivers) so that i will write those drivers to My USB and will Install them after rebooting into Windows. But I spent 6 hours and couldnt download the drivers because boot camp took alot of time for downloading them. I just closed it. So thats y I am asking is there a way i can download drivers for my Hardware on by one manually from any website ?

MacBook Pro mid 2010, gray screen at start up, boot from dvd not working.
Backstory:
I was in the process of installing Windows 7 using boot camp, but I was a little bit low on HD space. So, I deleted the user account that had a ton of stuff, and did some other crap that messed up my hard drive. So my computer just won't boot. It shows a gray screen 24/7, going into safe boot/safe boot + verbose doesn't fix the problem. I tried booting from an OSX Leopard dvd, but it won't work when I hold down C, and when I choose the Mac OS X Install DVD option after holding the option key, when I click the arrow button it freezes and doesn't boot. I have Lion installed, and apple says not to boot with an older version of OSX DVD, but there is no Lion DVD.
What do I do?
PS: I'm trying to boot using the DVD so I can reformat my hard drive, trying to do so in Recovery HD doesn't work because it says it 'Can't unmount drive'.Rockswim,
did it do that only once, or does it do that every time you restart it? -
I am having issues with my Window 7 on boot camp. My hardware is Macbook Pro Mid 2010 model and working on OS X 10.9.5. Recently I went to windows 7 to do a system upgrade but failed and was told to update the bootcamp drivers. I installed boot camp5 but seem to be the wrong version and change to boot camp 4 which was updated okay. However I still cannot do the updates. Can someone advice me please? Thank you!
Please see Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support for the appropriate version of drivers related to the specific version of Windows 7.

Be careful with Windows Updates, especially driver updates. Standard WHQL drivers can cause problems. -
How much does it cost to replace the speakers in MacBook Pro (mid 2010)?
The sound from my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) has suddenly become fuzzy. I suspect that I blew a speaker.
Does anyone know how much it would cost to have one or all the speakers replaced? You may check for pricing on the iFixit.com and Powerbookmedic.com websites. You may also bring the MBP into an Apple store genius bar and get a replacement quote from them.

How do I connect my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 to a VGA monitor
I have a MacBook Pro mid 2010 that I would like to connect to a VGA LCD monitor. It connects and I get the mac book screen saver but no desktop icons or tool bar. Am I missing a setting?
External screens are designed to work as extended displays for your computer's display. It means that menu bars and desktop icons won't appear, and you will only see windows if you drag them to the right part of the computer's display.
To change this, you have to activate video mirroring > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019 -
How to format HDD and reinstall OS on macbook pro mid 2010 without the installation DVD.
After updated the OS with MAVERICKS becomme my macbook very slow. So I want to format the HDD and reinstall the OS but without the installation DVD - (lost).
Could some one advise me how to proceed? Thank youWelcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X Lion and newer include OS X Recovery to reinstall Mac OS X without the need of a DVD. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
First of all, copy your most important files to an external drive, or make a backup of your files. Then, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting, open Disk Utility and erase Macintosh HD by choosing it in the Disk Utility's sidebar and going to Erase tab.
Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X -
Installing Boot Camp 5.0.5033 (downloadable at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638) on Windows 8 x64 on 13” MacBook Pro Mid-2010 using BootCamp\setup.exe, I get the following message: “Installation Error. Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model”.
According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634, Windows 8 x64 is not supported by Boot Camp 5 on 13” MacBook Pro Mid-2010 .
Previous version, Boot Camp 4.0, causes bluescreens on Windows 8 (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20131524#20131524).
Fortunately, it might be still possible to employ updated Boot Camp by launching “msiexec /i BootCamp.msi” from BootCamp\Drivers\Apple folder using administrative command prompt (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc947813%28v=WS.10%29.aspx).
However, new Boot Camp 5.0.5033 does not contain all the drivers for 13” MacBook Pro Mid-2010. E.g. driver for NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller (labeled Other devices/Coprocessor in Control Panel) and NVIDIA nForce PCI Systems Management (labeled Other devices/SM Bus Controller in Control Panel) must be obtained at Drivers\NVidia\NVidiaChipset64 in older Boot Camp 4.0 (downloadable at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1634)
According to Microsoft (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements), the MacBook Pro config (Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM) exceeds Windows 8 x64 hardware requirements. Windows Experience Index for this laptop is approx. 5.1 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/what-windows-experience-index).
Does anybody know, is there any technical reason why Windows 8 x64 is not supported by Boot Camp 5 on 13” MBP Mid-2010?
Is there a specific hardware/firmware deficiency in this MacBook model, incompatible with Win8? Maybe NVIDIA refused to provide Win8-compatible drivers for its chipset components (GeForce 320M graphics card though is still supported by latest notebook drivers available at www.geforce.com)?Thanks for the detailed explanation! If MacBook supports AHCI/SATA only in native “UEFI mode”, while reverting back to PATA/IDE in legacy “BIOS mode”, then it could make perfect sense to use UEFI to make sure that technology like Native Command Queuing (NCQ) is employed, as it may give noticeable performance improvements for certain operations: www.happysysadm.com/2012/12/intel-g530-nas-performance-part-3.html. I wonder how do you get Windows 8 x64 with EFI bootloader installed on MacBook?
Simply choosing EFI Boot (“Some EFI platforms support both UEFI and BIOS firmware. On some of those systems, it is not always clear if the default DVD boot option is an EFI or BIOS boot option. On these systems, using the EFI shell command may be required. If you do not specifically start Windows Setup by using the EFI boot entry, the default firmware boot entry for BIOS may be used. If Windows Setup starts in BIOS mode on a combined EFI/BIOS system, the ESP and MSR partitions are not created.”) from Win8 x64 DVD when installing on blank HDD would yield “The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed" message. Also, if the hard drive was not in SATA mode during Windows installation, registry tweaking may be required before switching from PATA to SATA. Do you do registry tweaking and EFI bootloader configuration manually after a copy of Windows was installed in its dedicated partition in a regular way? -

Any idea what it is? I'd appreciate any sort of diagnose?
My Mac has had some freezing issues before and recently was in repair because of those (memory was changed), but I've never got an error message after a freeze, and I've always had to force shut down it when it freezes. Ran the Apple hardware test couple of times, but nothing found.
I guess I have to reinstall Lion if this continues...Hello V-MA!
I found this webpage: http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues#toc1
by googeling for "com.apple.NVDAResman"
Probably you have to remove the Geforce Grafic drivers as discribed here. But please wait until some others in the forum confirm this.
If you don't understand how to do these commands with Terminal, ask once again for help.
In your message you did not metion, that you just updated 1 hour and something your OS ("System uptime in nanoseconds: 6688834587150"). This is an important information.

Macbook Pro Mid 2010 (Model 6.2) restarts like cray cray
Can't believe this is happening...
Macbook Pro Mid 2010 Model - Intel i5 2.4GHz - RAM 8GB - GPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
So I've seen quite a lot of threads discussing the 'GPU Panic' issue since I first encountered it a few weeks ago. The problem had never occurred on my MBP prior to that. However, the situation is now so bad that I wouldn't be able to open the Mac OS and make a copy of the panic report before it automatically reboots. Fortunately I have Windows 8 installed on the machine so I am still able to post for help on here.
A few questions / personal thoughts on the issue:
I bought this MBP back in June 2010 in China... So I won't be eligible for a free repair by any means right? It's been almost fours years since the purchase - significantly longer than three years restricted by Apple. I've seen another user who posted how they successfully defended their consumer rights by bringing some printouts of consumer laws and regulations. Lots of respect for that... But surely that only applies to goods purchased in the UK right? I'm so screwed... If a repair costs a few hundred quid then there is no point doing it, is there? I guess I can live with Windows for one or two years before the machine wears out and then get a new one. That being said, I still wonder if anyone in similar situation has managed to get free repair (GPU / logic board replacement or whatever it is). If so, mind sharing your story?
Is it nearly impossible to make a Genius Bar reservation nowadays or is it just me? My plan was to bring my MBP and talk to a genius and see where it goes. But both Covent Garden and Regent Street seem fully booked until a distant future. The reservation page does not show any available time slots, it simply says 'There are no available appointments at this store'. I mean I don't really mind if it is in a few days, a week, a month or even a year, just give me something. Telling people 'no availabe appointments at this store' is not very helpful is it? Since I have never had a Genius reservation (never had any issue using my MBP until this one - the good old days are gone) before, I'm curious what would happen if I just walk in with my MBP. Would they ask me to make a reservation or would they serve me right away?
Since I have never encountered the GPU panic issue (or any issue really) before I upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.2. I had never had any similar problems running Windows (Previously Vista, 7 and now 8) on my MBP either. I am speculating maybe the GPU Panic issue is more of a software bug. I am not ruling out the possibility of the GPUs being defective, but considering that fact everything was perfectly fine before the arrival of the evil Mavericks (for me, the upgrade to Mvericks 10.9.2), maybe the specific problem is down to Mavericks? I think this could be good news because Apple could quickly fix it for everyone as long as they know about the issue. Well... I don't think our chances of getting it sorted quickly are good, especially not when the new iPhone/iOS, which generates 10X more profits than Macs, is at the most critical stage of development. What do you guys think?
Oh it is just so frustrating. Using Windows on a Mac is definitely a nightmare - miserable 2 hour battery life and noisy non-stop fan spinning. Someone please help....................
THIn the Replacement Program Support Article, it states:
Apple will service affected 15-inch MacBook Pro computers free of charge until three years from date of purchase. This worldwide Apple program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the affected MacBook Pro.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
According to these terms, you are outside the eligibility window. However, I still second andyBall_uk's sentiments.
Make a Genius Bar Reservation. Print out a copy of the kernel panic report and the Support Article. If the 'Genius' refuses servicing without cost, ask for the store manager. It is ultimately at the manager's discretion.
Additionally, if this doesn't work out, you can look into Apple's flat fee repair program:
Do You Know About Apple's Flat Rate Repair Pricing?
Best of luck. -
My MacBook Pro (mid-2010) suddenly stopped working when I was overseas, but I managed to fix it when I returned back to the States after I reformatted and erased the disk, then installed Yosemite. I lost most of my files but didn't really care, though I noticed that some pictures from iPhoto had survived and were in the Trash folder.
I thought I could copy/paste them back into iPhoto, but it wouldn't let me since they were still in the trash. I started getting an error message for EACH PICTURE saying it couldn't be copied because it was in the trash, and when I realized that I'd have to click "ok" 644 times (once for each picture), I tried to restart, then shut down, and eventually forced a shut down by holding down the power button. This is where the problem started...
After trying to startup again, I was able to login to my admin account, and the desktop image would load, but I'd get the spinning rainbow wheel and the computer would remain frozen like that from then on. I tried to repair the disk (there was nothing wrong), and even re-installed the operating system again, but still the problem persists. BUT, if I login with my guest account, everything works fine.
I'm guessing it has something to do with it somehow being frozen on those error messages for those 600+ pictures, but I have no idea how to fix/unfreeze it. Any tips or suggestions?mozak wrote:
Can the use of SATA3 instead of SATA2 hdd lead to some issues with my macbook?
I can try to find and buy new SATA2 sdd hdd but they are expensive and I'm not sure it will fix the restarting issue.
SATA3 is backwards compatible with SATA2. That is not likely to be your problem.
Based on what you have done, I suggest a reinstall of the OSX.

MacBook Pro Mid-2010 kernel panic at each restart
Hi,
As most of you, I succumbed to temptation to update my MacBook Pro (mid-2010) with OSX Lion. First, I've done a traditional upgrade from Snow Leopard (10.6.8) from the Mac App Store. Due to some problems (see list bellow), I've decided to make a clean install (by extracting the file InstallESD.dmg from the Lion downloaded package. I've burned the package on on 16GB USB key (8GB is sufficient). Well.. On both type of installation I've encoutered the same problems.
The 99% of the time, my MBP make a kernel panic at the start (both when I do a simple restart of the system or after restating the system after a normal shutdown.
As I use mainly my MBP for professional use, I set the system to ask for a user logon at system start. Mainly each time, it wasn't possible to logon to the system. As soon as I tried to enter my password, I only see the game wheel icon turning on the screen and no possibility to enter my password. In this state, my only solution was to restart my system by pressing the power button.
Both of these two problem was replicable in either an upgraded system or on a clean install.
Finally (because I'm a patient guy :-) ), I've do a third clean installation, restored my system from one TimeMachine backup and found a solution to avoid having the problem I explain into the point 2.
When you restore a backup from TimeMachine from within Mac OSx, you have to create a second admin account, log onto this account and run the Migration Assistant to restore your backup. Admitting that, like me, during the clean OS installation, you've used the same account name as the one you had into your backuped installation, at the time of the TimeMachine restore, Migration Assistant will propose you two things:
Create a new user and restore our TimeMachine backup on this new username
Replace the existing username on your clean installed machine my the one that was backup into timemachine
As I've previously created a new account with admin right, I've logged on this account, launch Migration Assistant, confirm that I'm okay to restore my TimeMachine backup on the already existing user.
Finally, this setup resolved my point 2 problem. The difference between my initial setup and the one I use now is that I've now two users presented on my logging screen. To log on now, I've to choose the user, enter the password and never had the problem I had before with only one user set on my system.
Now, I really hope that Apple will fix this first version of Lion asap. For the rest, I'm pretty happy with the system. I'll work this week with Lion and will see if I encounter other problems. One thing is sure, I'll keep my TimeMachine backup of my previous Snow Leopard system at a safe place until I'll be sure that Lion will be stable.
Cheers....Hi,
That's correct, I'm running with one RAM chip, after testing the bays work correctly first, I elliminated that route, so it was indeed a bad RAM chip module.
I was just about to give up, as the first swap was with the good RAM out, so same problem. I thought I had nothing to lose by swapping the RAM again, and voila, it worked. I'm opening up some seriously big photoshop files at present, just to make doubly sure it's been resolved ha ha.
I'm looking at replacing my RAM now with OWC, as apparently according to their website and with the correct EFI updates, you can max out the mid 2010 MBP with 16GB of RAM. I'll much rather treat myself to that, than forking out on a new logic board.
I think it's quite a simple, but effective fix this one.
Thanks for all the advice and help, I really did appreciate it.
Ciao,

Macbook Pro Mid-2010 Crashing Randomly with Mavericks?
Hey gang,
I recently upgraded to Mavericks right after purchasing a used Macbook Pro mid-2010. However, more frequently, the laptop has been crashing randomly, and it does not matter which programs/apps are running when it does. Below is the latest crash report. I am looking for help to avoid the nonsense of having to deal with the Genius Bar if at all possible.
If anyone could help me out and lend a helping hand as to what's causing the problem and how to fix it, I would be eternally grateful! Thanks so much.

Macbook pro Mid 2010 freezes and restarts itself
Hi All, I have a Macbook Pro Mid 2010, 2,4 GHz Intel Core i5, and keeps restarting on its own when launching videos or on Skype.
I've tried booking a Genius Bar apointment but living in London they're always full.
Any help is appreciated.

MacBook Pro (mid-2010) Internal USB HUB freezes/locks up
MacBook Pro (mid-2010) wilth the latest firmware, etc.
OS X 10.9.1
USB KVM to share keyboard and mouse with another computer
This has been working flawlessly until I upgraded to 10.9.1
The KVM uses the Scroll Lock key to toggle the input between the two computers
I switch back and forth many times a day.
Almost once a day now, all my input to my MBP will lock up when switching the KVM over.
The MBP track pad, keyboard, blue tooth Magic Mouse, KVM mouse and keyboard all become unresponsive.
I am assuming that the interal keyboard/track pad/blue tooth transceiver are all tied to an internal USB HUB.
The MBP is up and running and I can ssh into it. The only error message in the log is that the mouse device coming from the KVM is busy and it will be disabled. I have tried to close the lid for several minutes and then re-open, but it does not resolve the issue. I have tried connecting another USB mouse/keyboard during this time and it will not work. I have tried kill -HUP on the usbd and USBAgent processes. Everything stays unresponsive. The only way to resolve this condition is to reboot the MBP. Note: the KVM works find on the other computer when I switch it back and forth regardless of the state of the MBP.
I am suspecting that when this happens it is some how disabling the internal USB HUB, which if all the other devices are connected through it, nothing no longer works (but maybe I am crazy with that thought). Anyone have any insight? Is there a way to reset the internal HUB short of a reboot?
Thanks in advance!I'm seeing the same problem with a 2010 Mac Mini with IOGear KVM and MS wireless mouse. This setup worked flawlessly for years on Snow Leopard but started hanging soon after the Mavericks upgrade. I'm running 10.9.4, currently the latest release. The system usually hangs after a KVM keyboard switch from Windows on the other set of KVM cables back to the Mac Mini. ssh into OSX works fine but a shutdown hangs indefinitely. top showed no processes spinning. The 1st console message after the hang was:
8/6/14 8:49:21.000 PM kernel[0] USBF: 1317978.201 AppleUSBHubPort: Port 2 of Hub at 0x6200000 about to terminate a busy device (Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver v7.0) after waiting 10 seconds
There were no other messages for hours before this. I'm using VM Fusion but I think it hung once without it running. The Windows 7 side of the KVM works fine.
