How to duplicate Events/Projects with only Proxies.

I'm on a MBP Retina, with 500GB SSD. Running Mountain Lion and FCPX 10.0.5.
I have a 3TB Seagate drive.
I encoded all my footage to ProRes 422 first, then imported that as original media into my current Project. That footage is over 1TB in disk space.
I then created Proxies of all that, and am pleased at the performance, and file size of the proxies.
Now I want to copy my Event/Project to a smaller drive that only has 400 GB available (I measured my Proxies footage folder and it's only over 100GB. So plenty of space).
I've viewed tutorials on the dangers of duplicating in the Finder, and that everything must be duplicated or copied within FCPX.
So my question: How can I take my current Event/Project and Proxy versions only, and go home and edit, and then come back to the office and move my updated Project file and relink and keep moving with my bigger versions stored on my 3TB drive? What's the step-by-step?

Here is a possible way to go about this:
Duplicate (or move) all projects to the backup drive. Duplicate the event to the backup drive.
Click on each copied project from the backup drive (you don't need to open its timeline), go to the Inspector and click on "Modify Event References". There you will get a list with two events (the one on the original disk and the copy you just made). Move the new copy to the top an click ok. Now your projects will reference the versions of your clips in the copied event, and you can safely delete the originals.

might not be the best way of doing things, but i create a new project and import a file system which contains the old code throught

How to share a project with a non-Adobe user and present it to prospect customers?

I Have to share my project with a person who will present it to prospect customers. I cannot ask this person to open an Adobe account. Is there a way for him to access my DPS folio and show it? Or can I export it in a way that allows to appreciate the interaction features built inside?

Creating a project with *only* JSR168 support

Hi,
In the article, "Deploying Java Portlets with WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP3" (at http://dev2dev.bea.com/products/wlportal81/articles/deployJava81sp3.jsp) Alex states:
"One consideration that may reduce deployment time is to use a scale down version of the Portal project. You can create your own project that only includes support for JSR 168 and no other services. Tags related to the portal content management services, Java pages flows, and other non-168 services could be removed."
Does anyone have any guidance on how this might be done? The 'Create project' wizard in WebLogicWorkshop does not offer much guidance. This info seems to suggest that this would be done by deleting some stuff from a WebLogicWorkshop portal project. However, I've found it can be a tricky knowing which things are OK to delete, and which things are required (especially meta-info files).
Any suggestions?

You could theoritically delete all the netui related jars. Beware - i am not sure what the portaladmin web app uses.
SO - basically if u skinny down your web-inf directory u should be ok - but don't skinny down the app-inf/lib without testing the portaladmin web app.

I just realised that you weren't talking about cyclic graphs (in the case of 1 cycle) here, but meant a single pass traverse and mutate.
What you don't specify is how the new nodes are being supplied. If they are supplied up front, then the loop will of course terminate once all the inputs are addressed, rather than going on forever. If they are being supplied from time-to-time,
then you need to have some sort of event-wait on input. The traversal could have a move-next something like this
If at end of tree with no new nodes, wait for input
If at end of tree, with input, reset to start
If at insertion point for new node at top of input queue, insert that
Move to next node in tree
This seems the sort of thing that would naturally be coded in a functional language as a tail recursion rather than an iteration.

If i want to create a jar file from com directory how should i give the jar command.Again my jar should contain only .class files.

Any other way Or is it possible to do so?Read the link I posted and create the statement to make your structure. I was thinking you were inside the com directory but if you are above it you will need something like this instead:
jar -cf test.jar com\*.class com\subfolder1\*.class com\subfoler2\*.class
But either way don't just copy and past this. Think about what is does so that you can make it work for you.
Also, you might want to look into using Ant if you are going to be building this a lot.

How to create a .flv with only audio?

So what I'm looking to do is have sound play on my landing
page...the problem is, I used .fla file and it won't play until the
entire thing is loaded. I know how to get progressive play with a
flash video file, but I don't know the best way the convert an mp3
file in to video...
What I'm looking to do is simply have sound start playing as
soon as they land on the page, I don't want them to have to wait
for the whole thing to finish loading first...anyone who knows the

To do what you want, my approach is to create a small (160 X
120) movie
consisting of a single black frame in AfterEffects or
QuickTime Pro and add
the MP3 file as a sound track. With the movie completed,
import it into the
Flash Video Encoder to create the FLV. Then, in Flash, play
the movie using
the FLVPlayback component. The player can even be placed off
the stage so
that the black frame is never seen. Set the ContentPath of
the player to an
external file, the one you created earlier.
Since the file had only a single black frame, the video track
will
contribute very little to the size of the FLV; it will be
mostly audio.

How to archive a project with files

Ok the job is done and now i would like to move the project with files from my laptop to a backup hard disk.
I saw that in project manager there is a tool to do that, but what if i already have the video files already copied to the external drive and i just want to backup the missing parts ? ( project files, previews) and how to keep files location updated with new location?

ok I just did it, I also moved the preview files in a new folder inside the customer folder and pointed it when launching the copied project file and it works.
So it's all manual or a new clean full copy with project manager.. I wish there was an option that backup in the destination harddrive just the missing files but I can just do it manually.

How to connect many devices with only one FW800 port in iMac?

Hi,
I am upgrading to a new Intel iMac from a 2004 vintage Dual2.0GHz PowerMac. I currently have 8x d2 Quadra drives chained by FW800, and 2x Iomega drives connected vis FW400 hub which also connects HD cams.
My questions is that with only one FW800 port in iMac, I think my devices connectivity is the following?
(1) Get a FW 800 hub (I can only find 2 port ones at the Apple store and BestBuy)
(2) Connect the d2 Quadras to one port of the FW800 hub
(3) Get a FW 800 to FW 400 cable
(4) Connect my 6 port FW400 hub to the 2nd port of the FW800 hub

In addition to your listed considerations, you should consider the following.
Many storage needs do not required FireWire 800 speed. For example, USB 2.0 works fine for your Time Machine backup drive. If you are just storing user data such as your iPhoto or iTunes media files, USB 2.0 is more than fast enough. So, as much as possible, if any of those external drives have USB 2.0 connections and the data storage does not need FireWire 800 speed, offload as much as possible to USB 2.0. I used to be a +FireWire snob+, but since getting an Intel iMac, I find that USB 2.0 works quite well for most data storage purposes.
There are new hard drives that are power efficient and as large as 2TB. Consolidate your data storage needs onto a smaller number of very large drives, partitioned as needed. This will make your setup more reliable (smaller number drives), and save reduce power consumption. If any of your current externals are SATA, you can probably replace the existing drive with an extra large one.
So, I think you setup should be, extra large FireWire 800 drive connected to the FireWire 800 port directly. Using a 9-pin to 6-pin cable, connect the FireWire 400 hub. Connect any non-storage FireWire 400 devices there. Do some data transfer testing to make sure having the 400 hub there on the chain does not cause the 800 connection to slow down.
Connect other drives as needed using USB 2.0, existing or new. Retire the smaller of your external drives.

If you have not managed to help yourself out with maven for ADF here is a quick workaround you can try. Invoke ant's ojdeploy task from maven. Refer step-by-step guide here.

JDeveloper extension: how to save JDeveloper project with custom folders

Iâm trying to add some custom folders/nodes to the project.
This code

adds a folder perfectly. But I cannot save added folder in the project, i.e. when I reopen my project there are no folder.

What version of JDev are you using?
Are you using projects with the setting "scan source path for project content?"
In any case here is some general information.
The class MyFolder must be a java bean. That is it must
have a default constructor (i.e., MyFolder()) and since
it must remember the name, it must have two accessor methods that get and set the folder name (i.e.,
public String getName(), and public void setName( String name )). The project saving mechanism will save this information in the project file and reload the information when the project is re-opened. Note that any two public method name get/setXXX are used by JDev to save and restore information about a project child.

How to Duplicate Event?

I use the included Calendar app. Is there any way to Duplicate an event? For example, I have a previous appointment that is going to happen again. It would be helpful to go to the previous event, duplicate it, change the date and time and have a new event set up. I do not want to Repeat because it is not a consistent schedule.
If this is not possible, then how can this suggestion be made to Apple so they can make this improvement?
