How to edit Calendar events?

If i am invited to an event i get an email with the .ics attachment. I add it to my calender and then accept the invite.
If the times are then changed i get another email with the new times on the email and a new .ics attachment.
The new .ics attachment on the email update still has the old times on it (and if the times were new i still cannot do anything with the attachment - there are no options to put it in my calendar).
I cannot edit the original calendar event to the new times.
I cannot delete the old event without declining it first.
Even if i could delete the old event with the old times i then have to make my own calendar event  (which then doesn't link in with the organisers event and doesn't show my attendance).
Why does my calender event not update automatically once the revised times have been emailed to me?
I have "shared calendar alerts" enabled but all it does is send me an email about modifications, i cannot edit the actual event anywhere.
Am i doing something wrong? have i missed something?
Thanks

You don't say what it is you want to change, but if you simply want to consolidate:
Select a calendar in the list, choose file>export.
Select file>import, choose the file, and select the destination calendar. (The destination calendar can be one which you sync with Google Calendar.)
When you're happy all is where you want it, delete the original calendars.
As always, take a backup before you start - just in case!

  • Cannot edit calendar events on iphone

    Cannot edit calendar events on iphone with most of the calendars, one personal calendar has the Edit button available but only on a few events--not all. We hosting the calendars through an ical server, running OSX 10.5.8.
    The software is up to date on the computer and on the iphone. Any ideas how to get the edit feature to appear?

    The edit feature was working correctly with the calendars and stopped. Performed a sync through iTunes removing syncing preferences first. Did not resolve the issue. I am considering restoring the iphone.

  • After iOS5 upgrade, iPod touch 2nd gen won't let me edit calendar events

    I have an iPod touch 2nd gen with the old processor, so I'm stuck using iOS 4.2.1 on the touch.
    Meanwhile, I have a MacBook and new iPad running Lion/iOS 5.
    Before I upgraded to iOS 5, I could edit calendar events from either my macbook or from my Touch.  Now, I can't edit calendar events on the Touch, and when I add new ones from the Touch, the options are restricted (e.g., I can't designate which calendar the item belongs to).
    Please help!  This functionality is very important to me because I take the Touch to work, but not my other mac devices, so I need to be able to edit on the go.
    Thanks,

    Hello, I would like to know if anyone can advise me on how to create calendar events in say, excel, and then upload them to my Palm Z22.  The reason I want to create them in excel is so that I can also update the file information to my cell phone as well.

    Hello Tony,
    If you want to use Excel, then I would suggest that you export your calendar spreadsheet as a comma separated values (.csv) file and then import that data into the Calendar application in Palm Desktop.  Then Hotsync your Palm.

  • How to duplicate calendar events copy paste?

    I am trying to build my schedule on calendars with my iPad. I would like to put in my work schedule but I don't work the same days every week. I am looking for a way to copy paste/duplicate entries so I don't have to keep inputting them. Because I don't work the same days each week/month I can't use the repeat feature. I have tried a long press to copy and paste but it moves the whole event and doesn't duplicate it. Is there a way to do this? I have found that I can do this on my Macbook Pro in iCal and then it updates the iPad through iCloud but I would like to do it with my iPad because I have the iPad and iPhone with me all the time and the Macbook stays at home.

    As you know by now, there is now way to copy and paste (drag and drop duplicate) iPad Calendar events. However, I have found a workaround that allows you to duplicate an event and place the duplicates in various dates on your Calendar. NOTE: This is probably not too practical for making a single copy, but it does save time and keystrokes for multiple copies.  In Calendar, tap on the event you want to duplicate and select Edit. In the Edit window select Repeat. In the Repeat window select Every Day, then tap Done to take you back to the Edit menu.  Tap End Repeat and select an end date that will give you the number of copies you want (e.g., if the original event date is 11/12 and you want 5 copies, select 11/17 as the End Repeat date.  Tap Done twice to return to the Calendar. Then just drag the Repeats/Copies to the various dates where you want them placed (works best in Month view). When you finish each drag/drop, you will get a "This is a repeating event" pop-up window; you need to select "Save for this event only."

  • TS1702 How to retrieve calendar events

    I lost all my past events on my phone - is there a way to retrieve them?

    Hello there Mkleczkowska,
    The way that I would recommend getting the calendar events back is through an iTunes restore if you have synced and backed up the phone to iTunes recently.

    Follow the directions for the version of the Operating System you have on your computer.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 automatically shuts down when trying to create/edit calendar events

    Hi,
    I have a Palm Pre and PD 6.2 installed on my computer. Right now I have Win 7 on 32 bits installed but I have encountered this issue also on Win XP 32 bits SP3, Win7 64 bits, on my machine and also on other machines.
    PD shuts down automatically when I do any of the following actions:
    -Calendar - Right Click - New Event - PD Shuts Down
    -Calendar - Left Click to create event - Type some text in - Then click outside the event slot - Then right click on the event - Click on Edit or Repeat - PD Shuts Down
    -Calendar - Import an existing event - Then right click on the event - Click on Edit or Repeat - PD Shuts Down
    My PD6.2 is clean. I have re-installed my OS on my machine for many times. Just right after the install when I go to Calendar and I try to create/edit and event it shuts down. I have tried on some other machines. I have tried also on WinXP - same results.
    I have trying to remove the datebook.mdb file out of Documents\PalmOSDesktop\Devicename\Datebook, but still with no luck.
    The only thing that comes to my mind is that the installation might be corrupt, but I'm not doing anything abnormal, I install PD following the recommended settings. I have downloaded PD 6.2 from Palm's web site also. I just don't know what to do.
    I hope that someone has an answer to this.
    Thank You
    Post relates to: Pixi p120eww (Sprint)

    You are correct this is a result of a corrupt install. Is there anything that could be connecting the installs of Palm Desktop? Like the same CD being used, same download file, or the same data?
    Here is the instructions for a clean uninstall:
    You should first make a copy of your data. If you have Palm Desktop 4.2 and lower you can copy your user folder by going to C:\Program files\Palm or PalmOne. Once in here look for your username and right click on it and copy it. Then open up My Documents and Pasting it in here. If you have Palm Desktop 6.2.2 go to My Documents/Documents --> Palm OS Desktop. Copy the folder(s) in here and Paste them in My Documents/Documents
    Now you will need to uninstall Palm Desktop. First go to Control Panel and in XP go to Add and Remove documents, in Vista Programs and Features. Then look for Palm Desktop and uninstall it. Then go to C:\Program files\Palm or C:\Program files\PalmOne and delete this folder. If you have Vista you will need to go to here:
    C:\Program files\Palm
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\Palm or PalmOne
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go into your Control Panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck hide hidden files.
    One this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your registry.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel you are unsure of your self see if you have a friend that can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything they need to delete. To help against this we need to do a backup.
    Go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
    Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    Easiest way to make sure your doing the right one highlight the key i.e. Palm Quick Install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The Registry keys are as follows (Note: some of these Registry keys will not be here but if they are, delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource
    Next reboot your computer
    Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you did not sync before create a hotsync name.

  • How to copy calendar events into Excel?

  • How to mark calendar event as "free"

    After upgrading to Mavericks, it seems like we no longer have the option of setting the status as "free" or "busy" for calendar events...? I see we can do it from the Calendar on iOS7 but it would be helpful to be able to do it from the desktop as well.

    Hello rolsen111111,
    It sounds like you are looking for the Show As function when editing an event. In Calendar click Help at the top and type the word Status. One of the first results should be "Change your Availability Status for an Event".
    The window that opens shows where to get to this function in the event:
    Double-click the event, then click the event’s date.
    Choose an option from the Show As menu.
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • How to edit an event?

    When I open an event, or select one and hit the Edit button, I get a read-only view of said event. How do I *edit* one?
    Most fields are just labels, non-editable. The only field that appears to be editable is the description, but it turns out to be readonly. So nothing is editable, and there's no Save & Close button or anything like that. What should I do?
    The calendar in question is a CalDAV one from a Zimbra server. It's NOT set to read only, as one might expect. "Offline support" is not ticked either, but no matter: I'm online.
    I'm using Thunderbird 31.3, Lightning 3.3.1, Windows 7.

    I'm doing this within Thunderbird. It'd be silly to ask a question here if I'd be have a problem with the website on the Zimbra server, now wouldn't it...
    When I right-click, I have these options:
    * Open
    * New Event
    * New Task
    * Cut
    * Copy
    * Paste
    * Convert To >
    * Delete Event
    * Attendance >
    When I choose Open, I get an intermaediate window asking me to open "just this occurence" or "all occurrences". I choose the latter, because that's what I want to edit. Then, I get a window that has nothing but uneditable fields except for Reply and Reminder (both dropdowns); the rest is just labels and the description is a readonly text field.
    This window is a small rectangular window that doesn't even remember its own position and size when I change it. And it opens on the wrong monitor. Seems like a rush-job to me, so I must be looking at a window that "slipped through" and I'm somehow the lucky guy who gets to see it?...
    Please note that when I open an e-mail, everything is editable as you'd expect. So my Thunderbird doesn't look like it's broken. Also, I'm having this problem not for a single event, but for all events that I can find in my calendar.

  • How to monitor Calendar Events

    Please Consider the scenario.
    I have delegated two users to manage my calendar. Those users obviously have full rights on my calendar. I found out that an event that i created was deleted, and both of the shared calendar users denied that they have done.
    How would i know who has deleted an event/task?
    How would i know who has created an event /task?
    Please help the user is getting furious

    Hi,
    You may want to have a look at the following calendar options (ics.conf):
    caldb.berkeleydb.ensmsg.advancedtopics
    caldb.berkeleydb.ensmsg.createevent
    caldb.berkeleydb.ensmsg.deleteevent
    caldb.berkeleydb.ensmsg.modifyevent
    caldb.berkeleydb.ensmsg.refreshevent
    These control the global notification of additional events to calendar entries. If users don't want to see these events they can turn notification emails off.
    Shane.

  • Can't edit calendar event

    I am unable to edit start and end times for new events I've created in Calendar. The new events come in starting at NOON and ending at 1PM. No amount of tapping will alter them.
    I've restarted to no avail.
    Anyone else have this issue?

    OK. Problem solved. A case of "intuitive" interface meets non-intuitive user.

  • After restoring my backup to a replacement iPhone, I cannot edit calendar events. Am using iOS5

    My iPhone4 died and I had to replace it.  Apple told me first to download iOS5 to the new phone then to do a restore.  Everything got restored, but I cannot no longer edit any of the events in my calendar regardless of where I created I them.  I can still edit them on the MacBook Pro, to which I back up events.  I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try Settings>iCloud>Calendars>On.

  • How to gather Calendar events using applescript?

    How do you gather any events schedualed for that day on calendar by using applescript?

    I have got it working with this script.
    If iTunes Pop-up a message, I press a key on my remote control and the Pop-up message / Box disappears.
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "iTunes"
    -- get the front window's name
    -- get the name of the front window
    set whichWindow to (get the name of the front window)
    -- Ergebnis: "Getting Playlist"
    -- display dialog result
    -- display dialog whichWindow
    -- Ergebnis: {button returned:"OK"}
    set whichButton to (get the name of the front window's button)
    -- Ergebnis: {"Stop"}
    tell whichButton of window whichWindow to key code 53
    -- set the contents of the button to key code 53
    end tell
    end tell
    In a terminal I have typed in "while true; do ./diut.app; sleep 2; done" to see what happend, if iTunes is front most and an iTunes message Pop-up.

  • Can't edit calendar events...

    OK, I've searched the community high and low and haven't been able to find a solution. I have iCal 4.0.4 on my iMac running 10.6.8 and and have a 2G iPod touch running 4.2.1. I mention the iCal version because I think the problem all started with the latest iCal update. I used to be able to go into my touch and edit the calendars as much as I wanted to. Then all of a sudden all the events in iCal on my Home calendar and also on my touch became uneditable on the touch i.e. if I click on an event in my Home calendar on the touch I don't have an edit button. The only way I can change anything on the calendar on the touch is to go into iCal and change it there then sync through iTunes. If I click the plus emblem while in calendars on the touch the only kind of event I can add goes into a calendar called [imap_MobileMe]:Mail To Do rather than my normal Home calendar on my iMac. And I have Synchronize iCal with other computers and devices using MobileMe selected in preferences.
    There must be an easy way to fix this that I'm overlooking. Thanks for any and all help in this matter!
