I know how to share the internet over the Wi-Fi. I know that there could be a password. But I need to control users by MAC addresses, just like in the routers. So, I want to give an access ONLY to a several MAC addresses which I'll write in some ?list?. i am running Yosemite OS on MACBOOK PRO 13" also windows 8.1 running on parallel V10 (the latest one).
in my line of work, we use custom tools to communicate with our products, all the tools are based on windows and running in layer 2.
some of the tools transmits with VLAN ID, i can see that the packets are sent with VLAN but nothing is returned, deeper inspection i found that the retuned packet , that it is also tagged with VLAN, is simply dropped and doesn't reach the windows.
on a regular windows machine, i can control the VLAN setting in the NIC configuration and typically what the NIC is doing is decapsulation the VLAN.
How do i do the same on a MAC?

iPhoto does NOT come with the OS. It is a separate App. Yes it is included on every Mac when new.
Since you are running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 you got 2 DVDs witrh your system. One is for installing the operating system, OS X, and the other is for reinstalling the iLife Apps that come with every Mac.
So find your original system discs and the Applications disc in particular. Delete, "Move To Trash", the current iPhoto app then reinstall from that Applications disc. Then use Software update to update it to the most current version.

You want to erase your hard drive, then download a fresh copy of OS X and the iLife apps? If yes, and you bought the system, ie, it's registered to you (so you can download software from the App store), and you have any important data backed up ....
Boot holding the command and r keys down which will take you into recovery mode. Use Disk Utility to erase the hard drive. If you want you can do a secure erase, which takes longer, and will absolutely make whatever is on the hard drive unrecoverable. Make sure you have a backup of any important data.
Then download and install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. It may take several hours to download. Then log into the App store and download the iLife applications.

I guess you could look at the info printed on your power adapter. Normally you'll see the output voltage and current values. Multiplying the two together will give you the power consumption of the computer (in watts) while it's plugged in. For example my Macbook says "16.5V and 3.65A" so it's about 60 Watts. For a MB Pro, my bet is around 80w. Looks like your dad did do his math to come up with that 7 bucks a month,:), but the pre-assumption is that you had it on 24/7, which i doubt. If you dad bought this MBP for you, you might wanna ask him why would he care the mere $7 after spending about $2000 on the thing.:)

How do i print from my mac book using printer connected to my Imac

I am trying to print from my Mac book by using the printer connected to my Imac however i keep getting a notice which says
Authentication required.what am i missing? I set them up to share printing but something is wrong

Before trying to figure out if I can help or not, a bit more specific information is needed:
1. You list an iMac G5 in your profile - is that the iMac you are using? In that case, you'd get more knowledgeable answers in the G5 forums (this is an Intel iMac forum). If you have an Intel, please give more details (model, etc).
2. What model/make printer? Does it have wireless capabilities?
3. What model/make router? Or are you simply trying to use the built in Airport from your iMac? In that case, do you have printer sharing enabled on both machines? If so, did you create a network? For detailed info on that, use the Help Menu in Finder and type in Network - one of the subjects available will be "creating a computer-to-computer network". It contains instructions on how to create it including a password (authentication).
You might also try to use the search function on this forum and type in "printer sharing". There are many threads, some of which might be useful to you.

Trouble enabling internet sharing on my server

I'm setting up my first server (10.4 on a mac pro).
Under Sharing Prefs, I can't find the tab that I would normally use to enable internet sharing.
I'd like our external internet line to go into Ethernet1 and our network switch to plug into Ethernet2.

Also setup DNS in the server and use that for LAN clients or you probably will have to change firewall settings to allow the use of a public DNS to-from LAN.

Unable to establish TCP connection when enabling internet sharing (Phone acting as hotspot)

I have developed a small .NET Desktop application which hosts a TCP service. In addition, it sends UDP Multicasts to anounce that service.
Service consumer is a Phone 8.1 app, which listens for these UDP multicasts and when it receives such a multicast, it creates a TCP connection to the service.
The following snippet shows how the Phone 8.1 app listens for UDP packets and then connects via TCP

This works well when the Desktop computer and the Windows Phone 8.1 are within the same WLAN. For some customers it is important that this also works when the Windows Phone 8.1 acts as hotspot (by enabling internet sharing on the phone) and the desktop computer
(or Laptop) connects itself to this WLAN. In this scenario the Phone 8.1 still receives the UDP packets, but when trying to connect via TCP, the connection attempt fails.
Any ideas how to get rid of this problem?

Have you tracked down if the phone actually sends the TCP connection to the desktop? I'm feeling that this is a firewall issue that shows itself when the firewall zone changes (public/private/domain).

I am trying to share photos with my son's mac book air. Each time he tries to access my Mac it says he doesnt have permission to access the Dropbox. I cant find out how to change this.
His Mac book air has Air drop but it seems that I don't have this facility.

If your MBP has Lion installed then you have iCloud by updating to 10.7.2.
If you have a 2011 MBP then Lion should be pre-installed. If it is not then you can purchase and download it via the App Store if you have 10.6.6 or later installed. If you have older PPC-only applications such as Office 2004, then they will have to be upgraded because PPC-only applications will not run in Lion.
You can, however, add a second partition to your hard drive and install Lion on that partition. In this way you can keep your older applications and boot into Snow Leopard when you need to use them.

The helpfulness of answers is limited by the details provided. Just saying it does not work, or I got an error does not provide much to go on. How is it not working? What happens or does not happen? Is an error returned? If so what error. Are you sure you are logging in with your home sharing ID? It is not the same as your Apple ID or iCloud ID.
