How to erase emails

I use Verizon e-mail; my iPad has received and accumulated more than 1,000 messages.
I can delete a few at-a-time by checking each message and pressing "delete". But this is awfully slow when you have hundreds, or more than 1,000 messages, to deal with.
Is there a way to delete them all?

There is an option to delete all messages at once from an account's Trash mailbox but not from any other mailbox.

Go to the website for the email account.
Delete the emails in question.
Most email accounts will update the other assocaited devices immediately. If yours doesn't, it might be a POP account.

This sounds like you may have an additional mail account configured on your device with unread messages. You can check for additional mailbox accounts by selecting Mailboxes in the upper left corner and selecting the account with the 161 unread messages.

The iPhone's Mail client saves all email recipients in a list of previous recipients.
The autofill email address list is pulled from the iPhone's contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
There is no way to access the precious recipients list with the iPhone to remove a previous recipient from the list or add a previous recipient to iPhone contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge this list at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.

How do you erase email from "trash" folder???

Is there some way to erase email from the "trash" folder beside having to delete each one singularly. That means to get rid of email you have do each one TWICE. On my I touch there is a button to erase all at once. Not on PALM that I can find.

I have to admit that I was also pretty surprised by that fact (and not very pleased). Looking into the manual, you can kind of cryptical read this. They say something about that data is erased but still on the touch unless overwritten at some point. I understand that only if you fully reset the ipod everything will be gone.

Sounds like you are using Gmail.
Pages 5 uses a zipped package of files as its format. 3rd party servers don't understand the format and show it as the component parts.
Use Mail toenail the file or zip the .pages document before sending.

[SOLVED]How to send email to a local user?

I have installed Mutt, msmtp, procmail and I can send and receive emails to/from remote hosts and I'd like to send email locally also (to the recipients on the same machine as the sender).
When I try to send email to a local user from the root account -
echo "Test message" | mail -s "Test subject" localuser
then I get an error that connection to the port 25 is refused. Because the /etc/msmtprc file contains the 'localhost' as the default account's host, and on the local host I don't have a mail server listening on 25 port running.
When I try to send email from a non-root account which has in /$HOME/.msmtprc file a real email account on a remote server, then of course there is an error that the domain for the email address 'localuser' is not recognized.
How can sending email to local users be enabled?

If I understand correctly, postfix it's a constantly running daemon. Seems to be an overhead for delivering only from time to time sent messages.

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.
