How to export ZCM inventory database?

We're in the middle of implementing a new Service Desk Tool.
I'd like - no, I need - to have workstation inventory data present in that tool.
What's the best way to get to that information?
How can I export data?

Do you want it to be an export or actually attached to the ZCM database?
We are in the process of trying to do the same with SupportWorks and linking it to the system.

You need to connect as sysdba or system to export the database -- Export/import process for 12.0 or 12.1 using 11gR1 or 11gR2 (Doc ID 741818.1)

If the password is incorrect, source the database env file and issue:

How to export/import database?

If I have an export file from database PROD and want to import to database DEV.
How to do that? Do i need to create an empty database as target database?
both database are using orapw files.
I'm using oracle 8.0.5 in unix.

Well, obviously, you will have to have a target database in which you’re planning to import the schema that you’ve backed up from the PROD database.
If the database that you are referring to as DEV already exists, just create a schema (new Oracle user) with the same name as the schema name that you’ve imported from the PROD database. Keep in mid that you will have to grant appropriate privileges to this new schema owner as well as ensure that the default tablespace is large enough to hold the imported objects. Let me know if you have specific questions.

We bought my wife a new HP laptop with a fingerprint reader. She loves simply swiping her finger rather than entering user names and passwords. However, I get concerned that something will misfire some day, and we will have no idea what her various user names and passwords are. That is an excellent question!
Export the Webcard Database:
If you have working SimplePass software, Export your Webcards before proceeding. In the event that you must remove the SimplePass software, your webcard backup can be used (imported) to restore your website login information.
Start SimplePass > Settings > Export NOTE: File will be named *.tsd
Be aware that when you print the Webcards (one of the options in Settings), that the output will show the passwords - save the printout in a safe location!

how to export and import on another computer whole database connection with all contents ?
step by step

From the "source" computer do this:
1) Open SQLDeveloper.
2) Right click on the main connections node and choose export connections.
3) Select the connections you want exported and choose a file name and location to save them.
4) Save the file by clicking OK then copy it to the destination PC.
On the "destination" PC assuming you have already installed SQLDeveloper do this:
1) Open SQLDeveloper.
2) Right click on the main connections node and choose import connections.
3) Browse to the connections file you copied earlier and select the connection you saved.
4) Complete the import by clicking OK and you are done.
Mind that this is sufficient only if you have only basic connections, if you have TNS connections you will also need to manually copy the Tnsnames file from the "source" PC to the "destination" PC and set the
Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> Advanced Tnsnames directory
to the directory where you copied the Tnsnames file.

you can generate the DDL of the objects in your database using SQL Server Management Studio... select your database node, rx click, "Tasks->Generate Script"... the "Generate and Publish script" wizard will prompt you... in the "Set Scripting Options"
task, you can access the "Advanced" dialog, where you can interact a little on "how" the output will be generated..
as regards the "way" to understand how the objects are "interconnected", you can access the "Database Diagram" dialog... create a new one for your database, add all desired/required objects, and they will be "rendered" as objects on a window showing all
relationships (in the meaning of SQL relationships) among them... this feature is not as powerfull as in full comercial tools like erWin or the like, but it's a nice one..

I like to export and import some selected columns and rows of a table from one oracle database to another database.
For example, I like to export the following SQL's result data to another oracle database.
select ename, sal from emp where dno = 100;
Can I create a database view based on the above SQL and export the view with data (I don't think data will be exported along with database view?)
I know, I can do this either with SQL*Loader or by creating DBLink between databases and using insert-select statement.
Please let me know if this is possible in exp/imp.

You can Query and table option to export and import and i recommend you to create parameter file to use query option
parfile.par
file=myexport.dmp
tables=table1,table2,table3
query="where dno=2"
..Conventional export/import, you can also consider using datapump if you are using 10g.

Probable BUG found in Sybase Inventory database

(Sure is quiet around here - must be because ZDM 7 is so stable...)
So I have been having inventory database issues. Random but inevitable
database failures - eg "assertion failed 201425" (and other numbers that I
cannot locate at the moment), "mgmtdbs.db is not a valid database file" on
starting the sybase database. Etc.
Long troubleshooting story short: it appears that the sybase.nlm application
cannot handle nss volumes that are large. In my case it fails if I try to
run it on a 3.6TB or 5TB volume, but succeeds if I run it on small volumes -
20GB to 65GB. Also the database was running fine on a 1.8TB volume - the
problems began when I virtualized the server (on ESX 3.5u4) and moved the
volume from direct-attached scsi storage to network-attached CoRAID (AoE)
storage AND expanded the volume to 3.6TB.
To test my theory I ran the database on two other servers and 3 other
volumes. In all cases success came when the hosting volume was small -
didn't matter if the host volume was direct attached or on a physical server
as opposed to a virtual server.
So if you are having inventory database problems, try moving the database to
volume that is small - I suspect the magic breaking point is 2TB which just
happens to be the maximum size of an NSS partition...and wasn't that also
the max size of an NSS volume sometime in the past? Maybe the sysbase
engineers were working in such an environment when they wrote the
nlm...after all it has been 4 years since it was last modified (I am running
v8.00.03, Nov 30 2005) and even longer since it was originally written.
Anyways, the reason it fails is not so important. There is a workaround and
a long term solution as well - move to ZCM 10.whatever-is-good ;-)

Isn't it funny how once unfathomable disk sizes are now not that unusual?
My guess is you are correct and if an SR was created on the issue Novell
would likey raise the matter to Sybase for investigation.
(Clearly this sounds as if its a bug and would be refunded.)
But I think it's unlikely that it would be fixed even if verified since the
NLM is already so old.
While you have simple work-arounds, It is possible that the Windows and
Linux versions of Sybase that come with ZDM don't have this issue.
