How to fill in fields in a PDF form? I have downloaded the Adobe Reader x 10.0.1.

I have the Adobe Reader x 10.0.1. Free version.
I downloaded a PDF form and open the document but cannot fill in any of the fields. With the form opened I look at File/Properties/security which shows "Filling of the form fields": Allowed.
I do not find "Typewriter" under view.
How can I type in to fill the fields

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

You have to add save rights with Acrobat.
Open you form in Acrobat and then save it via File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools.

Yes, I was able to open PDFs until I downloaded the new version as per the alert on my MacBook Pro. I was using Adobe Reader often.
I downloaded whatever they sent me my way (11?) and my operating system is Mac05 (10.5.8-10.9 English).The message says I’ve already downloaded it. It didn’t mention file.org. I looked in my preferences and didn’t see Adobe Reader, only Flash Player.
I’m not terribly computer savvy, so I’m trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

Try quitting the PDF apps and Safari like I describe below. Then reset the iPad. After it starts try again.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Javascript to fill text field from other PDF form

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to add javascript to a text field that when initiated pulls text from another field in a closed pdf in the same directory.
For example I have a NAME field in the pdf form I am working in....
When I initiate the script the NAME field is filled in with the same data from another PDF that is closed.

I have looked up the 'disclosed' property and it looks like that is what I want to do..
I have "this.disclosed = true" in a PDF with the name field. On the other PDF that I want the information replicated I am going to add a javascript to an action somewhere on the document, my problem is which script do I use to get this data from the other pdf? Is the pdf that is now accessible via javascript (disclosed) a data object?

International Characters in PDF Forms are not shown correctly (Adobe Reader 11.0.06)

I have a PDF form served from a web application and shown in Internet Explorer and want to put in string values with norwegian letter like 'ÅRE ØRE ÆRE'.
These are not shwon correctly when I toggle "Highlight Existing Fields" and the focus is not on the text field in question.
I am runing on Windows 7.

For work I need to be able to download PDF's from a particular website. It utilizes the Adobe Reader but when I try to download a PDF, it doesn't do anything. A few weeks ago, i installed Adobe reader (because i had a pdf attachment that was unreadable in Preview, so i wanted to try Adobe to see if that would work; it didn't work). Since then, i can't open PDF files on the web. I get a black screen or sometimes a white one. and i can sometimes open them indirectly, if there is the option on the link. I thought this problem started after i deleted Adobe however. I'm not sure because i wasn't expecting this problem and am not exactly sure the sequence of when things happened, but i wanted to delete Adobe reader because i had no use for it. Unfortunately, they didn't provide an uninstaller. I put the application in the trash and whatever else was in the folder, and emptied the trash, but got a lot of messages about various files not being able to be deleted because they were in use. I think it was since then that i can't open PDF files. Never had a problem before getting involved with Adobe Reader. Anyway, as far as your answer goes, i have already deleted as much of it as i can.
Any other suggestions? i downloaded the Adobe installer to reinstall it if that's what it takes. i need to be able to open PDF files.

Some websites try to open a pdf file in Safari using the Adobe Reader plugin. I don't have this plugin (and don't want to), and I would like Safari to download the pdf rather than trying to use the Adobe Reader plugin. This option exists in Firefox - is there any way to set Safari to do the same thing?

On my machine, OPTION-clicking a link, downloads it or the PDF that it points to. Alternatively, load the PDF and then OPTION-click on the URL and hit the enter key. Sorry, but that's all I have to offer.
