How to find duplicate images in Elements Organizer

I have been using many versions of photoshop elements and edited many of my files. So, now I have very many duplicates, near duplicates, and versions of the same photo. I think I have over 20,000 photos and they are taking up too much space. I tried using a duplicate file remover and it removed several thousand, but I still see many duplicates when I run photoshop elements 11. I am tempted to not use the organizer any more and just rely on a folder browser. Does anyone have a solution to this mess?

  • How to find duplicate images?

How do I use Bridge CS5 to find duplicate images and delete them?

I'm having the same issue as aljCharlie.  Using Find won't work for me due to several reasons.  First, I have 30k+ images in the folder.  Secondly, the images have differing file names but are ultimately duplicate images.
So, I suppose this has been asked and answered, but just in case it hasn't: Does Bridge have any sort of visual duplicate finder that compares the content of the images rather than simply the file names?  I'm thinking of something like TinEye.  Maybe I should post this in the Feature Request forum.  Hmm.
    Thanks!

  • How do I find duplicate images in Aperture?

How do I find duplicate images in Aperture AFTER importing my entire library from iPhoto? There must be a way to do that, right?
Please let me know the secret.
    Thanks!

Léonie,  Thank you for your rapid reply!
I am using Aperture Version 3.4.3 and 9.4.2.  I downloaded the Duplicate Annihilator but it gives me an error message that says this:
I have no idea what that is all about since I am using this library in iPhoto and Aperture. I already sent the company an email asking about the problem.
I am seeing dupes that came from my original photos in iPhoto and from iPhoto PhotoStreams with monthly dates; these are listed in my Apertrure Projects listing. Is there a way to SAFELY dump these dupes?
    Thanks!

How to find duplicates in aperture

Aperture has no tool to search and remove duplicates. It relies on the option "Do not import duplicates", when you import images to Aperture.
To identify duplicates search for them manually by sorting images by date or filename, or use third party tools.
See Old Toad's list in the pos below: Most of the apps work also for Aperture:
Re: iPhoto not asking about duplicates on importing
i am using PhotoSweeper .It can also identify duplicates in different resolutions or edited duplicates, and lets you control the rules for marking a photo for removal - the newer one, the smaller one, the one without captions or keywords, etc.

Can anyone tell me how to find duplicate files in Finder with Automator or Apple ScriptEditor.

D'oh!  It's actually fairly easy - I just right clicked on the file, Get Info, Artwork tab, then dragged the picture to the desktop, from where I can do what I like with it.  Never mind, nothing to see here, carry on.

  • How do I find duplicates in Adobe Elements 8?

Like many others, I have tons of photos on my computer - many duplicates.  My primary concern at this point, however, results from the fact that  a cousin and I have just scanned over 1500 ancestral photos and documents, newspaper clippings, etc. from many albums we've just inherited.  She numbered the photos she scanned, I named the ones I scanned.   Now we find that there were many duplicates of photos between the two of us, and we would like to find those to reduce the huge  number of files.
Does Adobe Elements easily locate duplicate images so those can be deleted?  How about if they have different file names?     Pleeeeeze tell me we can do this.
Also,  does Adobe Element 8 batch re-name files, in case we want to do that in the future with these?
I'm looking at finding an easy and inexpensive (free?    ) course for Adobe 8 as I haven't really used it that much yet.  Some of the photos are 100+ years-old and will  need some editing.
    Thanks so much.

Hi, Granny (I thought you were great in The Beverly Hillbillies)
Don't try File>>Process Multiple Files to rename if you have already imported the photos into the PSE Organizer.
There is a FAQ on how to find suspected duplicates in PSE8 Organizer. http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Find_and_delete I haven't tried this so I can't say how well it works.

  • How to identify duplicate images?

After recently upgrading to PSE5 I've noticed that my catalog contains various duplicate images. On closer inspection these are identical images (same file name) stored in different directories, so I'm happy that PSE is working correctly.
Can anyone suggest a method to identify these duplicate images, which will then help me to delete them?

Along the same line as Colin: If you look on Google for "finding duplicate photos" there are lots of software products, both free and shareware, which claim to find duplicates on a PC. I have not used any particular one, so I can not recommend any particular one.
You could find the duplicates, remove one set, open Organizer and do a Reconnect All Missing and then Remove From Organizer. This would clean up the Organizer. The hiccup would be if you had Photo 1 and SamePhoto 1 in Organizer with SamePhoto 1 tagged. When you delete the file and remove the missing link, you lose the tag and you would have to re-tag Photo 1.
Is there any pattern that all the duplicates are in the same folder (would be easy to remove the one folder) or do they seem to be scattered about?

the connection is, when you post a FI-document:
you need a G/L - account and an  account assignment
(WBS-Element or cost centre in you case WBS)
this data is put from FI per interface to Controlling:
here you have the cost-element (= G/L account)
    and the CO-object
you'll find all combination of cost-elments and co-objects in Table cosp

  • How to use Photoshop CC with Elements Organizer 12

    Hi!
I have Photoshop CC and Elements Organizer 12. However, whenever I choose to edit my photos with Photoshop CC, they don't show up as "Edit in Progress" in Organizer. When I save the photos from Photoshop CC, my changes don't update in Organizer. However, Photoshop CC is an option in the Editor menu in Organizer, so Organizer knows that Photoshop CC exists.... Whenever I edit using Elements Editor, everything works as normal. I'm paying money for CC and I can't use it, so I really hope there's a solution!
    -BalinKingOfMoria

    Hi Balin,
Did you ever find a solution to this.  I'm using Elements 11 with CC 2014 and having the exact same frustrating problem.  It's so bad I revert to using Elements editor most times now.  I rely heavily on organiser for my 50k catalog.
    Cheers,

  • Deduping software- finding duplicate images help

I have a large collection of illustrations (in the thousands) and I often find duplicates within the collection, which I have to tediously identify one at a time. I'm interested in a deduping application that will not only identify duplicates, but also be able to find similar illustrations with slight variations (that have been altered using photoshop). The collection is entirely comprised of photoshop tiff files.
    Any suggestions?

I use ThumbsPlus to locate duplicates with Image files. It has a Sort by Similarity, and its algorithms are pretty good. They keep being improved upon, with each new release. It is NOT freeware, but is not that expensive, from Cerious Software.
For all file types, Dupe File Finder does a very good job, but is not fast. Also, it does not display Image files, so it is not as easy to use visually, as ThumbsPlus is. I cannot recall if it was freeware, or shareware now. So far, it has been 100% correct for me.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
