How to freeze the columns in excel exported from SSRS report??

We have created a report for our client. The client wants the report in excel format. As there are nearly about 30,000 rows in the excel. Client wants us to freeze the column header names in the excel so that even after scrolling down they
will be able to see the column names.
can anybody have idea how to achieve this in SSRS?

Thanks for your post, You can achive your requiremets by using the below logic. hope this will help you.
Steps to achieve it
1. Select the tabix and click on Tablix properties.
2. In the General tab under Column Headers section you can see "Keep header visible while scrolling" checkbox, check it.
3. Now the header row will be remain fixed in the report.
OR
1. In the grouping pane, make sure to turn on advanced mode (click on the small black down arrow on the far right of the grouping pane)
2. Select the corresponding (Static) item in the row group hierarchy
3. In the properties grid, set RepeatOnNewPage to true
4. KeepwithGroup to After
OR
1)Freeze the header of all columns[ Freezing table header ] : To do select static member of table header row from row groups [ Advanced Mode ] and set FixedData to true
2) Freeze the initial 2 columns : To do select static member of columns in column group and set fixedData to true .

If you are using Crystal Reports 2008 you can use the Report Application SDK that is now available.
It has a object called PrintOutputController that has an export method that allows you to get access to the exported file before you send it to the user.
Check the Developer library and the samples for details.

How to Customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report

I've been trying to customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report.
First i followed the instructions in Note:183131.1 -

But of course the OWA_UTIL.REDIRECT_URL in this solution did not work (in a portlet) and i found the metalink document 228620.1 which described how to fix it.
So i followed the "fix" in the document above and now my output is,..
"Portlet 38,70711 responded with content-type text/plain when the client was requesting content-type text/html"
So i search in Metalink for the above and come up with,...
Bug 3548276 PORTLET X,Y RESPONDED WITH CONTENT-TYPE TEXT/PLAIN INSTEAD OF TEXT/HTML
And i've read it and read it and read it and read it and can't make heads or tails of what it's saying.
Every "solution" seems to cause another problem that i have to fix. And all i want to do is customize the Message "No Row Returned" from a Report. Please,...does anyone know how to do this?

My guess is that it only shows the number of rows it has retrieved. I believe the defailt is for it to only retrieve 50 rows and as you page through your report it retrieves more. So this would just tell you how many rows was retireved, but probably not how many rows the report would contain if you pages to the end. Oracle doesn't really have a notion of total number of rows until the whole result set has been materialized.

Thanks for posting your code - that helps a lot isolating the issue!
While your code could work, if the SDK would have been implemented differently, it won't do what you want it to:
- There is no et_FORM_DATA_LOAD event fired when a draft is loaded (use EventLogger from the B1DE tools - it would have told you that you are looking at an event that doesn't get fired...).
- Not sure how "BusinessObjectInfo" is defined, but oForm.BusinessObject.Type = "112" does not occurr:
The business object behind the form is the "real" business object - an Invoice ("13") in your case.
Thus your code never reaches the lines where you disable the relevant columns... - you could e.g. use .NET Profiler form B1TE to get at least a better idea of what is happening inside the add-on, if you don't like to step through you add-on code.
- oForm.BusinessObject.Type is a string (remember UDOs!) - not a number.
- Table "ODRF" is not a datasource behind form "133" - please check the form's XML!
If you would like to run that check you have to do it differently - using DI API...

How to improve the efficiency of EXCEL export?

I've found a not too small issue of the built-in EXCEL export function. We have a page which let the users query a huge table and return a report page. The query takes long time, however the users are tolerable enough to stand that since they know the size of the table. Nonetheless, the process to export to EXCEL would take almost the same time (maybe a little bit shorter) as the query, which is in-tolerable. It seems that the built-in function just Re-run the query against the table and sends the file to the excel file. Is there any way to solve this issue?

That is a good idea.
You can dump your query output into the collection and base the report region off of that collection. The Excel output just re-runs the region query so if you base the report region on the collection, you are done (you don't need to manually do just the export)

How to freeze the columns in Classical reports using vertical scroll

Add columns to EXCEL exported from ALV

I'm using the function module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY, to display an ALV report. This report shows a standard text when users click on one column.
I wanna know if its possible to add the standard text as a column into the EXCEL exported from this ALV? and if so, how can I do it?

With a SSRS 2008R2 report consisting of a page header and a tablix in the body with columnar information, how can you control which rows are in the Frozen Pane at the top of the workbook when exporting the report to Excel. Currently the top
pane is just the Page Header. I want to include the column headings from the tablix as well.

Based on my test, I can reproduce the issue in my local environment. The report only display page header as the fixed data when export it to Excel. Even the tablix header with fixed date repeats on every page when we render the report in Report Designer,
but it cannot display as fixed data in Excel. This is by design.
To work around this issue, we can add the same content in page header, then adjust the space between page header and report body to make them like a whole tablix.

I think u r mentioning about the addition buttons that appear in the selection screen when using a logical database. for removing these buttons u can use a function module RS_SET_SELSCREEN_STATUS for setting ur own pf-status
do this in "at selection screen output" of the program..
in the tables parameter, u have the option for giving the ok-codes that u want to remove. append all the ok-codes into this table.
for getting the ok-codes u can use "tab" and go the button.. press F1. it will give the ok-code.

I would recommend you to have a look at the VI attached. It makes use of a VI named 'Read from Spreadsheet' to read the row and column data from the tab delimited excel file. The read data is then searched for the Alphabet specified and finally returns you the corresponding string. The test file used to validate the operation of the VI is also attached.

How to extract the column width in ALv report if its executed in background

I am executing an ALV report in background , in front end i am getting data properly, in back end for some columns some of the digits are missing.For example if PO no is of 10 digits it will display only 8 becos column size is like that , how to extract coulmns in back ground.

If not use Docking container instead of custom container, For ALV in back ground jobs, its suggest to use docking container instead of custom container , below you can find the declaration for docking container and code to use docking and custom container in your program for fore and back ground.
or you can use docking container alone for both operations.
