How to get flash video to open in flash player

I would like to produce a link in Dreamweaver that points to
a flash video that would open in the actual flash player interface
window. Every time I try to link the swf file in Dreamweaver, it
wants to open the flash video in a new internet explorer window
instead of just opening it in the flash player interface. When this
happens, it enlarges the video to fit the explorer window. How do I
get my desired result?

perhaps a character that isn't all that special to you is
quite special to dw? a surefire way to tell would be for you to
post it here....

If this is the scenario, then no, you can't reliably close
the first window. You can use Javascript to close a browser window,
but, if that window wasn't opened using Javascript, then it may not
close gracefully, or in the case of IE, may display a prominent
error message.

Firstly iWeb CAN'T IMPORT any kind of published html code as it has no import facility. You can however add html code, javascript and css by selecting the html snippet and placing it on your page the entering the code in here and clicking on Apply. You DO NOT create a shape as you say - you use the html snippet and place your code in there.
There are not really a lot of ways in which you can write code - if you want to enter small amounts of code, then you would use an ordinary text editor to do this such as Text Edit on a Mac or Text Wrangler. If you want to add code to iWeb like this, then you would either use the html snippet method in iWeb itself or you would have to publish the site to a local folder from iWeb and open the relevant html page with a text editor and add the additional code in this way and then publish. However, if he decided to add the code with a text editor, then you would have to upload the pages directly to the server using an ftp client - if you try to upload the site directly from iWeb, all the extra code will be overwritten.
As for checking whether the site was created using iWeb, all you need do is view the site in Safari and then click on View and then select View Source Code and it will tell you.
Even thoough extra code was added to the site and he might well have done this by publishing to a local folder and adding the code with a text editor, he should still have the domain file for the site too.
Ask again. I'm sure that for adding quick code, most would not want to use programmes such as Dreamweaver, but a simple text editor will suffice. As OT already said, if he claims that he does not have the domain.sites file, then try Flux 4 which is a web design programme and has full import facilities. At least this way, if he just gives you the published version of the site, you have some way of opening it.
You can download a free trial of Flux 4 and you can also purchase the full version from the Mac App Store if you decide you like it.

No matter how many uninstalls and reinstalls Firefox 4 will not play flash videos w the latest flash plugin installed. What do I do to get flash videos to play like everyone esle can?

Trying to solve my non-playing flash videos wherever I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1, such as CNN or anywhere really while surfing. Even at the Adobe web site I cannot play demo videos and I own CS4 Suite. I can play any YouTube video I select.

I logged out and logged into my clean account where I install nothing. No joy.
What the heck is the problem? No one else seems to have this problem as I am told many play CNN videos fine.

I have taken several video's on my iphone 4, and have tried several times to get these downloaded onto my laptop so i can save them... the laptop has taken the photo's but will not recognise the video's.... also can't seem to find a way to get them onto facebook either ?? can anyone suggest how to get this sorted ??

To get them moved to your PC: Connect your iPhone with the USB cable. Once it is recognized, go to My Computer and just select the iPhone as you would any other USB storage device. Copy/paste, cut/paste, click/drag, etc. the picture/video files you want to copy from your iPhone to your PC.
To post to Facebook: Start up the Facebook app and go to the News Feed. In the top left corner next to the 'What's on your mind?' text window you'll see a camera icon. Touch that and select Choose From Library. Then post away.

I did a test with your code in my environment and it works fine.
For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you debug your code step by step. You may need to check if file.ListItemAllFields.ID is valid.
If you want to get video Thumnail image, there is a column named Preview Image URL, the internal name of the field is AlternateThumbnailUrl.
You can get the field value using Sever Object Model like below.
String url = item[“AlternateThumbnailUrl”].ToString();

Firefox crashes whenever a Flash video advertisement opens in Yahoo! Mail. No virus detected. Incompatability?

Hi guys,
I need to create a simple applet. User loads a video file (.avi, .rmvb, .mpg, .mkv) form hdd with FileChooser and applet should read its:
- fps
- length
- size
- resolution
- codec
Something like application called TellMeAboutDivx but applet version.
I have no idea how to get these parameters from a file. I've spent some time looking for some hints, but so far I haven't find any helpful solution.
I'd appreciate any tips or helpful links.
