How to get most recently view pages in new tab on the new version of firefox

upgraded to the new firefox and now i cannot get my recently viewed site to show when i open a new tab. the little square that is supposed to turn them on and off is not showing up.

You can check if the new tab is still set to the about:newtab page.
You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
*https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the about:addons page.

The r1 and r2 columns are not needed for the solution. You may want to display them, just to help see how the query works.

How do I get my "save and quit" back after updating to the latest version of Firefox on a PC?

How do I get my "save and quit" back I do not like having to close all my tabs and loose all that every time I close out of firefox. When I got the latest version of firefox I lost the ability for firefox to save my tabs when I close out of it. I have to go through the process of opening all my tabs and refinding the sites all over again each time I load up firefox. I can not find the place to change the settings to being back the way they were before firefox got the latest version. I want my "save and quit" back.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session. 
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page. 
Another possibility is to use:

How can I get around the find bar no longer being shared between tabs in the latest version of Firefox?

Previously, one could open a new tab and the find bar would remain at the bottom of the page from the previously opened tab. So, for example, I could search for something in a tab I open, open a new tab and the same find bar would be at the bottom so I could search the new website for the same thing. Any way around this?

How can I make "Open Link in New Tab" open the new tab in the same window, not a different window?

When I Ctrl-click a link and choose "Open Link in New Tab" it chooses to open the new tab in a different window (one that's already open) rather than opening the new tab in the same window. Even though the other window is minimized, it automatically gets restored and placed on top of the window I was in. This interferes with my context, forcing me to minimize the window again to get back to the one I was in before. I want the new tab to open in the same window, so I can still see the tab I was in. Some links seem to have the "Open Link in New Tab" behavior automatically, so I never know when I'm going to get thrown out of my current window. Very annoying.

If you have a mouse with a scroll button then try to middle click the link to open the link in a new tab.
It is also possible that the links use onclick JavaScript instead of a href to specify the action.

Open link in new tab loads the new page and moves to the bottom

I am using the latest update of Safari and had this happening in the previous version also.
When I CMD+Click a link to load it in a new tab the new tab opens behind the active one (my choice of preferences) and when I click to make the new tab active and view the content it has loaded the page but is automatically at the bottom of the page. This is rather annoying when viewing a forum post or opening a long news article etc.
What is wrong and how do I fix this.

I think I just discovered what the problem is, and well the Apples lovers here will enjoy this.
I noticed that the only pages that jumped to a location low on the page were ones that contain a bing.com ad/search box.
The ad is being hosted on the following website and adding it to my hosts list as a 127.0.0.1 entry has officially blocked the site and stopped the problem it caused.

Why would you start a new account? Just update the email address for the original account

How do I get the location bar drop-down list to show the most recently visited page at the top? I have no idea how it's deciding what to display.

In IE when you show the drop-down list from the location bar, it show you all of your most recently visited pages in descending order with the most recent at the top. Firefox is showing me a list that I have no idea where it's getting the pages from or how it's ordering them. It doesn't update the pages or the order when I go to a new page. I have recently switched from IE to Firefox and cannot figure out how to get Firefox to do this; very annoying.

That drop down list doesn't show recently visited pages, but shows list list of most visited sites sorted by what the Mozilla devs call frecency (frequency and recency) and is based on bonus points. It is not possible to have much influence on what shows on that list.
If you want a list of recently visited sites then you can use a smart bookmark e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar with the location set to this smart folder. 
Name: Recently Visited 
Location: place:queryType=0&sort=4&maxResults=30 
You need to close and restart Firefox to make that folder work as intended.

I have that same behavior occurring, but in only one mailbox. Whenever I open that particular mailbox, it defaults to the top -- i.e. oldest -- message. Every other mailbox I have defaults to the bottom -- i.e. newest -- message. Why the heck is that happening, and how do I get it to follow the same pattern as all the other mailboxes?

When I click on the "New Tab" button, or try to open a new tab through the "File Pull Down" Menu, a new tab does not open. How do I fix this?

I cannot open new tabs. The new tab button, new tab option on the file menu and the new tab option when I right click on the tab all do not work. This started when I updated Firefox Yesterday. It is becoming annoying when trying to work with multiple tabs open. How can I fix this?

Try uninstalling the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and the current version of Firefox.
