How to get music from an iPod Touch to an iTunes library, even if some of the music wasn't purchased from the iTunes Store

So I just got a new laptop,
I downloaded iTunes
I Authorized the computer and all that,
I transported my purchases from my account and all went well,
But I just want to know if it's possible to take the music from my iPod Touch 4 and put in on the laptops iTunes library?
I have a Windows laptop
The songs that I have on the iPod aren't from the iTunes Store and I've been looking for ways to try different things but nothing is working
I don't even care if the steps are complicated or if it will takes a couple days or if I have to download the songs one at a time, I just NEED to figure this out

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
If you want free try MediaMonkey to extract the media and the two scripts near the end to recover ratings and playlists.
For the future see Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy.

The option to update wirelessly without any computer have been introduce with iOS5.  Therefore, you can't update yours without a computer since you are still in iOS5.
First update using a computer and then, you will have to option to do it without your computer for upcoming iOS updates.

  • I bought music on my ipod touch. Why is it that I cannot put that music on my other ipod(s)?

    Hello,
I bought music on my iPod touch. Why is it that I cannot put that music on my other Ipod(s)?
I downloaded my IPodTouch to my computer with no problems. I tried to drag the music I bought on my IpodTouch to other playlists on my computer and it did not let me. It refuses to let me even try to drag it to my computer music Library. It shows on my IPodTouch, but like I said, it will not let me drag it to my other Ipod(s) or even to my Music Library on my computer. Please help me.

  • How to get song off my iPod Touch into iTunes

    Hello,
I just bought a new laptop and I'm trying to get all my music (non of which was purchased from iTunes) into iTunes on my laptop. I've tried a few apps that supposedly do this, but they didn't work and I don't have the option to use my Touch as a hard drive so some directions I found on the net wouldn't work in that situation.
Is there an easy 'free' way to do this with an iPod Touch?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Senuti has just released a beta that does do exactly this. Obviously one accepts that this IS a beta and there are no guarantees, but I tried it yesterday and it caused me no problems. You might want to change the Transfer location in the preferences forst; but then maybe some won't.

  • How to get photos/videos on iPod Touch after full reset?

OK guys, I'm ready to tear my hair out over this one. Long story slightly shorter:
    1) Upgraded my 4th gen Touch to iOS6 and liked it, until I realized all of my music was gone.
    2) I wiped the device and tried to restore it from iCloud, which was a complete disaster--didn't work at all.
    3) Spent the last three days reloading all of my apps and getting everyhing *just right* over the air, without actually connecting to iTunes on my computer.
    4) Now when I try to connect, the only options are a) set it up as a new device, presumably erasing all of my work over the past few days or b) trying to restore from the last backup, which was months ago (since I rely on iCloud for everything) and which I already know doesn't work anyway.
Is there anything I can do to get my iPod Touch connected enough NOT to sync, but to transfer photos and some videos to the device from iTunes??
I hope that this makes sense and that someone can help me! I've wasted way, way too much time on this recently and I'm almost done getting things back the way they were, but want my photos and a couple of short videos back on my iPod Touch.
PS I have both a Windows 7 laptop and a Macbook Air, and can use either and/or both as part of the process if that makes a difference. The Windows PC is the primary; I only use the Air as a client machine with iTunes Match/Dropbox/iCloud.

Thank you so much!!! I couldn't find anything in the knowledgebase, so this is a *HUGE* help.
Just for clarification though, I wasn't ever able to restore from backup--is the fact that I connected my Touch to my PC in recovery mode the reason why my computer doesn't "realize" that the Touch has already been set up? That was the only way to get the device usable again after the failed iCloud restore attempts. I hadn't actially synced with the computer since last October though I had been able to connect to transfer photos, etc. more recently than that.
I guess the good news is that I'm totally "lean and mean" now, and ready for my new 5th gen Touch in a few weeks (hurry up with that release date Apple!). I have just 53 apps now, all on one page, instead of the roughly 300 I had before. I'm a freelance tech writer/reviewer, and I have a bad habit of letting all the apps I've reviewed sit on my device after the articles are written, even if I'm not using them. My 4th gen Touch is much faster now.

  • How to get video out of ipod touch?

How do I get video and audio ot of my i-touch with latest software? I am usin a 30 pin to av ot cable.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • How to get Battery Percentage on iPod Touch?

I have been using iPod Touch and the main problem is that the battery in my iPod Touch 3rd gen keeps falling. To alert, I would prefer to check to Percentage of the Battery like the iPhone and iPad, but have no idea where to get it from the setting. Suggestion and advise would be great and helpful. Thanks!

There is no such setting. You'll need the help of a third party app to do this for you, but even those aren't always very accurate.

  • How to get IOS 5 on ipod touch 2g

I have an ipod touch 2g and want ios 5 on. I know it is not compatiable for ios 6 but i'd like ios 5 as i can not get facebook apps because i only have ios 4. How do i download it on my ipod?

Your current iOS version is shown in Settings > General > About > Version. You can check if there is an update available for it by connecting it to your computer and selecting it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then on the right-hand side on the Summary tab clicking the Check For Updates button.
If there is an update, then before your start the update process first copy any purchases off the iPod to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPod as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPod by right-clicking the iPod 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.

  • How to get white screen off ipod touch

im having trouble getting the white screen off my ipod touch and it wont turn off either and when it does go off eventually when it comes back on the  white screen is showing again

Try the following. You will likely have to let the battery fully drain
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
