How to get only certain contacts back on iPhone?

On my 1st iCloud backup, I restored all my contacts - about 800. Since then (a year ago), I have deleted tons - down to about 100. I have also deleted them online (iCloud on my Mac), and anytime I go to delete them all off my phone and turn contacts back on under iCloud settings, it puts all 800 back on there.
How can I get this to sync so I'm only getting the ones I want, without manually deleting them off my phone? It's taking forever and I can't see myself wanting to do this in the future in case it happens again.

When I print my calendar, every calendar I've inputted shows up. I have personal calendars (me and each kiddo) and work calendars (one for each class). I un-checked the class calendars but they still printed on my master cal.

How can I only restore contacts to my iphone

I only want my contacts after I restore my iphone. Can anybody help. And when I backup from itunes then it gives two option backup app and do not backup apps so when I use do not backup apps then will it restore all the apps that I has before the restore or will it only restore contacts

iMessages are backed up in the normal backup of your phone so it will be restored when you restore the backup.

I recently downloaded the ios 6 (I hesitate to call it an upgrade at this point) and now my maps look like absolute garbage.
I would like Google Maps back, properly (not the web app). I've read about downgrading to ios5.1.1 on other forums, but apple does not support it, and I'm afraid of bricking my iphone, or loosing my data and settings that I've spent many months refining.
So, I'm asking you, Apple, to please figure something out for those of us who would like to go back in time and have the original phone we purchased. The maps app is absolutely useless to me at this point. If a solution is not given in a timely manner, I promise that my next phone and my next tablet will be an android (planning on upgrading both in about 1 year when my phone contract is up). I'm sure many others are also thinking the same thing.
I think it's absolutely insane that you would break people's devices and not offer to revert back to 10 minutes ago before we started the download. This kind of planned obsolesence will only create irritated customers who will switch to a platform that doesn't tie your hands up and take away features on a whim.
The only way to salvage your reputation from this flub is to fix it. NOW!

Contact your carrier. Caller ID is a carrier feature. Not all carriers support turning it on and off in the phone settings.

IF you do find a backup that has your contacts; I'd /highly/ recommand turning off your wifi network after the restore is finished because if the issue is with your iCloud your contacts may merge back with her's.
With iCloud you DO NOT want to share the account; bad things happen Evil evil thigns...
But in all seriousness; if two devices have the same iCloud; iCloud is told to merge and sync infomation between hte two and can't tell that it doesn't belong to the same person

If I re-link files to their current catalog (many different paths to files in same catalog) can I merge (import catalogs) into one master catalog? Will the new (Master catalog) have the correct link to the source file? If not, how or can this be done?

It's a good idea to backup your Mac Address Book application and iCal Calendars application from each application. This way you can go back and pull out items if you lose something. I do this everyday.

I suspect the merge between Nokia Dev and Ovi accounts to have deleted all my purchase history. The last 9th of september, I purchased Billboard for my N9. So, it was less than a year before, it should be still valid and I should still be able to download the app.

As an experiment, try this way.
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
