How can I get the position of a selected cell in a table or in a list multicolumn cmd ?

  • How to get the rendered value of a cell in a table

    Hi All
    I am using a DateCellRenderer to display the date in a particular cell in the format "MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm" instead of the long date format. My proble is that when I try to retrieve the value using table.getModel().getValueAt(row, column), it returns the value in the long date format instead of the format "MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm".
    Is there anyway to get the actual rendered value of this cell.

    The value that is returned from the model is the actual Date object. If you want to format that Date object into a string like it is rendered, then just create a date formatter using the same pattern to output it. Trying to force the renderer to render the string seems like you are pounding a nail in with a bowling ball. Yes, it will work... but why are you doing it. :-) And you are forced to make assumptions about how the renderer works... is a label, etc.
    Seems to me it would be far more clear to staticly define the pattern you are using for formatting dates. Use that pattern string in your renderer, and use it for creating another date formatter for your other tasks. Update it once to modify all uses. Remember that date formatters are not thread safe, and should not be shared unless you are very careful. So share the pattern, not the formatter.

  • How to get the position of the stem in control valve using slider control in the front panel

    I have created a calibration program for a control valve. Signal (4-20mA) is generated from labview using slider contorl which is given to the valve via DAQ(module 9265) and again the feedback signal from the valve is acquired using DAQ(module 9203).. . There is an input ISO/ISC(Increasing signal to open/ Increasing signal to close) in the front panel.
    ISO would set the output to increase from (4-20)mA further opening the valve
    ISC would set the output to increase from (4-20)mA further closing the valve
    I have doubt, how can i get the position of a stem

    The bean property selectedListItem contains the Key of the SelectItem that is selected.
    How do I obtain the Value of the selectedListItem?
    I need to be able to get the Value field that is displayed, not just the Key to the item that is displayed.

    I'm petty you sure can extract the details you want using a script. I think the method is called Selection Bounds, and it return an array of the unitValue of the rectangle.
    If you look at the scriptlistener code for creating a rectangle, it does record the data you want. So you should be able to extract it using Javascript, Apple Script or VB

    if you have a node already where aNode is a DefaultMutableTreeNode for example, then you can use that object's API method to get the child count.
