How to go back from 10.8.5 to 10.8.4 on new iMac

I've just bought a new Apple Certified refurbished iMac and it has come with OS 10.8.5 pre-installed. However the software I use for work, Pro Tools is not yet compatible and it isn't functioning well at all. Avid, the makers of Pro Tools say that the issues are fine in 10.8.4. Can I somehow wipe the hard drive and install 10.8.4 on the iMac? I've downloaded a disk image of 10.8.4 which I can burn as a disk, can I get the iMac to install that somehow.
Thank you.

10.8.4 is not available legally as a disk image anywhere.  That means where you are getting it is probably not a release version.  Your best choice is to find out if someone made a copy of the 10.8 installer program from their download who just upgraded to Mavericks, or chose to stay with Lion or earlier, and then use the 10.8.4 combo update.  Mind you, you can't use the same copy of 10.8 that someone currently has in use elsewhere.  You can buy the license from them obviously.  The refurbished Mac should be older than 10.8.5 to be able to use 10.8.4 or earlier.  If that doesn't work since Apple certified it, you might want to go to an Apple Store and see if they will fix it up for you.

    I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water for a moment. After drying it and everything, it still does everything but get service. Can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one... is this true? I would truly appreciate the help, please let me know, thanks!

    Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode.  In this case, all data on it is gone.  There's nothing to back up.

    How can I back up my files and photos on my iPhone to my iMac?

    You can back up the iPhone to your Mac with iTunes.
    Make sure, your iTunes version is up to date. Connect your iPhone to an USB port and launch iTunes.
    See this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    If you want a separate folder with your photos, download the camera roll contents by connecting the iPhone to USB. You emac will see it as camera and you can download the photos using Image Capture to a folder on your Mac, or using iPhoto or Aperture to your photo library.

  • I have an iPod whose contents I want to transfer to a newer Ipod.  At some stage I lost the music files from my library.  Is there any way to get them back from the older iPod and put them onto the newer one again?  I stupidly synced the wrong one.

    Have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, external drives ? If not then you could have a look to see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work : https://discussions.apple.com/message/11014893?messageID=11014893#11014893

    If you absolutely must have the Microsoft applications, you can purchase and download them from http://microsoft.com/mac.
    Free software suites LibreOffice and OpenOffice offer similar functionality (word processing and spreadsheets).
    Or you could do worse than look at Apple's Pages, Numbers and Keynote, which should already be installed in your Mac and can export to Microsoft formats if need be.

  • Can I / how do I transfer my Windows platform Creative Suite 3.3 to my new iMac?

    Can I / how do I transfer my Windows platform Creative Suite 3.3 to my new iMac?

    You cannot. The license is for Winows only. CS6 can only be changed from Windows to Mac.
    You can purchase CS6 Mac, or subscribe to Creative cloud where you will be able to use your products on windows and Mac.

  • Will microsoft office for mac 2004 transfer from my emac running 10.4.11 to the new iMac running mountain lion using migration assistant?

    will microsoft office for mac 2004 transfer from my emac running 10.4.11 to the new iMac running mountain lion using migration assistant?

    Microsoft Office 2004 will not work on any Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion. You will need to upgrade to Office 2011, buy the less expensive iWork apps from the App Store or use a free office clone like OpenOffice or NeoOffice.

  • Oracle forms 9i - How to return back from a block?

    Some one please help me
    In a trigger, I have a code says go_block. How to return from the block and back to the trigger to continue executing the codes below the go_block statement? Please see example below, I want to come back from block CHECK_STUFF and continue execute the statements
    :Name.option := '1';
    if :name.option = '1' then
    Example:
    Block: Name
    Item: yes_no - Key-next-item trigger
    declare
    begin
    go_block('check_stuff');
    go_item('answer');
    :Name.option := '1';
    if :name.option = '1' then
    Thanks - Patty

    The code behind the GO_BLOCK is executed immediately after the GO_BLOCK, it doesn't stop at that point. So you have to split your code, like
    declare
    begin
    go_block('check_stuff');Then, create a procedure like
    PROCEDURE PR_RETURN_FROM_BLOCK IS
    BEGIN
    go_item('answer');
    :Name.option := '1';
    if :name.option = '1' then
    END;Then, when returning from the block (in whatever trigger you use), just call that procedure.

  • How do I back up my basic phone when I already activated my new smart phone?

    I recently got an iPhone as a surprised (they activated it and everything) I never got the chance to back up the photos and the saved messages on my basic phone. How do I back it up even though its not "active"

    This may work. Hook a cable from the device to your computer.
    It will or should show as another drive letter on the computer.
    Access the photos on the phone and copy and past to a folder you create on the desktop.
    After you have them, simply hook the iPhone cable up to your iTunes.
    Then sync photos, search the desktop for the pictures. The they will be on your iPhone.
    It sounds difficult but it really is easy.
    If you had the photos on a SD card on the basic phone use an adapter which can be purchased at any computer shop and get the photos that way.
