BI Administration Cockpit - Implement

Hi All,
Our system is BI 7.0. Recently we did the technical upgrade. BI Statistics related chains are running on our machine daily. Now we are thinking on the lines of implementing "BI Administration cockpit" on our BI system. I have a few questions:
What is the concept and use of it?
What are the prerequisites?
What are the steps required to implement the same?
Efforts required to install "BI Administration cockpit"?
Best practices for the same.
Appreciate if I get the above details to kick start the analysis?

Hi Suman ,
1. Admincockpit will help you in analysing the statistics of BI objects .
Ex - In your BI system , the users execute queries , workbooks , webtemplates , infopackages , process chains , dtps and other BI objects and you want to judge their statistics (which query was execute the most in your system ,who are the users who executed them , which query is taking the highest time to execute and so on ) .
The BI Admin cockpit will give you the statistics of all BI objects that are being executed in your system .
Advantages :
1.You can check which query had the highest execution time and you can improve its performance .
2. Who are the users who executed the queries and who are the users who account for the most query execution time .
3. RRIs are build upon the admincockpit queries which gives you the advantage of drilling down to underneath objects . So suppose you selected a query with the highest runtime , from the query itself you can go to the infoprovider upon which the query is build .
4. You just login to your portal and navigate to
System Administration-> Monitoring -> Business Intelligence
And you can view all your BI Statistics over there for the selected system . Just select your BI system in the BI System selection window and all the statistics for that system are being displayed . So without logging in to your BI system you are able to view the statistics of all systems from one single place .
Disadvantages :
1. The only thing i guess is they will take up some space in your database as statistics records are generated every time you execute any Object . So you need to cleanup the underlying tables at particular time-periods . BI Admincockpit also provided settings/options for data deletion from underlying tables .

How do I install an app if it says "check with administrator"?

I'm the only user of my iBook and my account says I log in as admin. I'm trying to install some new Logitech Harmony remote (audio/video remote control) software. A box says "you are not allowed to install the software in the default location on the disk "Macintosh HD". check with the administrator of your computer". I had been trying to remove the old Logitech software (a success with the help of this forum). I had been changing ownership and permissions in the old app. I might have changed them in the new app. How can I install this application? Thanks! Kentar

Hi Kentar,
   It sounds like the app thinks you're not an administrator of the computer. I assume that you are but stranger things have happened. If you are then when you execute the command "id", without the quotes of course, it should show you as a member of the group "admin". If it does then something else is wrong. However, I was wandering about that when you said before that you couldn't drag the old app to trash and trash it. Usually an administrator can do that after authenticating even if part of the app is owned by root. If you're not a member of group admin, check out Michael Conniff's article, I lost my admin user.
   Otherwise, you might try deleting the receipt for the app in /Library/Receipts. Although the error message doesn't sound like that's the problem, the presence of a receipt has been known to make it impossible to reinstall an app.
   If none of that helps then I'd like to help but I'm going out of town as soon as I post this. If I can check the list from out of town I will but I don't think that I will be able to. In any case, good luck!

We tried to install iPlanet Web Server ver 6.0
Service Pack 3, in Sun Ultra10 Solaris 5.8 machine.
During the time of installation it is giving Error:
Failure installing iPlanet Administration Server
Do you want to continue? if Yes
it starts poceeding with the installation and again gives an Error:
Failure installing Core Java Classes.
Do you want to continue? if Yes
It completes the installation.
But startconsole cannot be executed.
Please send the solution.

May I ask where did you get the bits for iWS 6.0 SP3? The latest version currently available for download is iWS 6.0 SP2.

BI Administration Cockpit - Empty templates in portal

Hi,
Has anyone experienced the following problem:
- The BI Admin. Cockpit has been installed according to instructions without errors
- The technical content as well as the process chains are working and data is being collected from the objects pointed in RSDDSTAT
- The Business Pacakge "BI Administration 1.0" has been installed.
- Both roles (BI Admin. & System Admin.) have been assigned in portal and BI Admin -role has been assigned to user in SSM.
- The BI Admin. tab page is visible in portal and all of the IViews and pages are available in the portal content.
- If the queries or the templates are executed from BEx or WAD they are populated with data and everything is working as it should be.
- Even when executing the IViews or pages (f.ex. No. of BI Application Executions per User) in PREVIEW -mode from Portal Content Studio the reports are shown correctly.
HOWEVER: If one navigates to BI-Admin tab --> BI Usage Statistics --> BI Application Usage Statistics -report, both of the expected reports are just missing. The only things that are shown are the templates (tab strip and buttons) but the queries are missing.
There are no error messages etc. Please advice how to proceed with further investigations?

We are planning to install BI Admin Cockpit in our BI system as well. We found a lot of PDF documents on SDN, but they are more on the general terms. Can anyone share their real time experiences, plan and the exact startegy step by step to be followed to install Admin cockpit and how to use it?
The Technical content is already installed on our system and the Process chains are also scheduled for the same for more than a year now. What we are missing is the exact real time plan with the steps to be done to have this?
It would be of great help if we have this.

I have installed the BI Administrator on my Portal and configured the settings for SAP BW system.
The activation cockpit on SAP BW runs with some errors.
Unfortunately when I logging on Portal all the content of my SAP BW system under BI Administrator is empty.
How can I trace the error?

How do I install iTunes on my iPod?

I just bought a new 5th Gen iPod (80 gig, Black model). It doesn't come with an install cd. I hook it up to an iMac at school that already has itunes installed. The iPod appears on the desk top, but not in iTunes, and I get a dialog box that says the iPod "iPod" can not be used because it requires iTunes 7.0 or later .
When going through the iTunes install the select destination dialog box, if I select the iPod it says that I can't install iTunes on this volume. This software may only be installed onto the start up volume. I can't install it on the computer because of it needs an administrator's name and password but I can't get it since this is a university.
I've reset the iPod, and set itto disk mode. So how do I install iTunes on my iPod?

Jeff, he was refering to the school computer, in which he does not had admin rights. Then he said his OWN computer.
If you were able to install itunes, I don't understand how or why you can't get the correct itunes version. If you said you went to the apple website and downloaded it, it should be the current version, here it is again anyway:

once installed, you can plug in the iPod and it should work now.

How do i get to Administrative Mode in Photoshop?

I bought CS5 a few weeks ago, installed it on my laptop and desktop. Subsequent to that, got a bad virus on the laptop, ended up swapping out the hard drive (which i still have the old one in my possession). Installed CS5 on the new laptop i bought, since it has more power and storage, etc. Now, Adobe tells me gotta delete one of the licenses.
Was instructed to go into Admin. mode to be able to delete the CS5 on my desktop, so i can get one on my new laptop. How do i find the Administrative Mode!!!

There isn't an "Administrative Mode" in Photoshop that I know of.
Who instructed you thus? What did they specifically tell you to do?
You are allowed to install Photoshop on up to two computers. If you have used up one of your activations because of a failure (reformat due to virus or whatever), you need to call Adobe to ask them to reset the activation count so that you can use those two installations you're entitled to.
As far as deactivating a license on a working system, you do this via the Help - Deactivate menu in Photoshop.

Have tried: download but do not install iTunes, then turn off virus protection and firewall, restart computer, login as admin, then run the iTunes insallation. After it installs, restart virus protection and firewall and logout and back in as standard user.

I inserted a flashdrive and followed the bootcamp directions. I then thought that I could purchase windows online and download that program. When I went to buy windows online, it was $199.00 so I started searching further for an alternative. That led me to blogs regarding parallels, fusion and Virtualbox info. How do I install Elements 13 from the diskdrive on another computer?

I bought a hardcopy of Elements 13. I want to install it on a Windows 7-desktop pc.
However, this pc does not contain a diskdrive, therefore I want to install it from the diskdrive on my laptop.
Both computers are in my home-network. I do have administrator rights. @From the desktop I can see the contents on the disk. I can even start to run and it is possible in the startscreen to choose installing Elements 13.
Then, the resulting message is: "the specified file cannot be found"......

Your best bet is to download it and install it that way. You can download the trial and use your serial number to activate it to full use (there is no difference between the trial and the full version other than the missing activation).
