  • How do I get six family apple devices to be able to use the same iTunes account to make purchases?

Our family has an iPad, a MacBook Air, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPod touches. I tried to access music in iTunes on my MacBook Air and a message came up that said you can only have 5 devices use the same iTunes account. What can I do to allow us to all use the same account?

Get a second Apple ID. Perhaps you should have two different Apple IDs for each iPhone and iPod Touch.

  • My gen 3 iPod Touch seems to have duplicated all my music since updating to IOS 5 so that it now only holds half as much. What can I do about it? I'm using the same iTunes library with OS 10.6 and all software up to date.

Is the camera damaged? Could be a hardware problem.
    Try:
Close the Camera app in the multitasking bar, then try again.
Restart/Reset/Restore your iPod. In that order.

  • HT1535 I own an iPhone4, an iPod 3rd generation and an iPad 2. I use the same iTunes library but unfortunately synced iPad with a different computer before syncing to my own. Do I risk losing the films/apps I've downloaded onto my iPad if I sync with my i

I don't want to sync what is on my iPod to my iPad. (I have a 32gb iPod but only 16gb on iPad. The iPod I use mostly for music.) I can't seem to add the films I have downloaded onto iPad to iTunes. If I could do that, I could erase them from iPad to create more storage.
    This is intensely confusing, sorry.

    Question.....

    Answer.....
Yes you will lose the films that you downloaded to the iPad when you sync with your own iTunes unless you transfer the purchases into your own iTunes library. Were these movies that you purchased? If so, you might be able to download them again for free. Do you have multiple computers that you sync from or is this someone else's purchased content?
You can select whatever you want to sync to all of your devices in iTunes, you do not have to sync the same content to all device.

  • How am i able to use the same itunes account on a different ipod?

How am I able to use the same iTunes account on a different iPod?

By just using the same iTunes account.  If you set up the iPod on your computer just make sure that iTunes is signed your account.  Of settingup via wifi, just enter your existing account.  Do not create a new one.

  • I have multiple apple devices mainly used between me and my wife , my question is that can i have two sets of contacts backed up to icloud one for her devices and one for my devices using the same itunes account

i have two sets of devices one ipad, iphone and mac which i use and one iphone ipad and mac which my wife uses
now is it possible to have two sets of contacts and calendar synchronised for her devices and one for my devices using the same icloud account
i dont want a separate itunes account as we use the same music books and apps to be automatically downloaded which is very convenient
    please guide

You can set up different iCloud accounts on each device using different Apple IDs (to keep your mail, calendars, contacts, etc. separated), and still share the same iTunes account (in Settings>Store on your device).  There is no requirement that you use the same Apple ID for purchases and for iCloud.

  • TS2972 I would like to share my iTunes libraries with my Apple TV from both my iMac and Macbook Pro, but I use the same iTunes account on both devices. Is it possible to link my Apple TV to both devices at the same time?

I recently purchased an Apple TV, and I currently have it linked to my iMac with my iTunes account. I also have a newer MacBook Pro that has some different iTunes media on it than my iMac does, but they share iTunes accounts. Is it possible to link both devices at the same time, have access to media on both computers, and use the same iTunes account on both computers?? It seems Apple TV will only link to one iTunes account per computer, but can access multiple computers if different iTunes accounts are activated on those computers.

You can share multiple libraries with the Apple TV, they don't even need to use the same iTunes account. Just make sure that you use the same ID for homesharing on all devices.

  • Now I have a regular ipod and a shuffle can I use the same itunes account

How do I start to set up my shuffle to work on the same itune account?
Once I add my shuffle will it wipe out any / all songs?
    Thanks

If the version of iTunes on your computer is newer than or the same version as the version available when the iPod shuffle came out, you can simply plug the second iPod into your computer and go through the iPod Setup Assistant. Adding a new iPod to your computer will not erase any songs from the iTunes library or other iPods associated with that computer.

  • Can I use the same iTunes library on 2 macs?

I have 2 macbooks. The audio files are stored on the external harddrive.
Does each macbook has to have its own library or can they be using the same library -- and always display the same playlists, etc.?
    How do I do that?
    Thanks,
    Sasi

Keep all the files for the library on the ext HD. This includes the Album Art, iTunes Library file, .xml files etc.
This way any time you are opening the library it will have all the files available. Hold down the 'option' key when launching iTunes and direct the Mac to the ext HD.

  • How do I set up individual accounts for our families three iPods, while being able to use the same music library?

My family has three iPod touches. They are all different. We want to be able to set up individual accounts for each of them.  When we have them all under the same account, every time we sync, they sync the last person's music and app choices. Help.

Yu can use the same account.  Just in the Music and App and other panes for the iPod check the boxes that say sync only checked item.  You do not want to check sync the entire library.
    See:
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer
For using different accounts also see:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Yu can use Home Sharing (iTunes>Advancedtab>Home sharing)

  • Users on same mac using the same itunes library

How can i allow another user on my mac access my library on their itunes, without copying all my tunes to shared folder, i.e, can change privileges to allow them access?
    cheers

Not sure I know what you mean. From an administrator account you can give whatever privileges (I think you're talking about permissions) you would like. Navigate to the folder through Finder from the Admin account and use Command + i to Get Info on the folder. Set user permissions to whatever level you want the other user to have. If you want them to have full access and ability to add or delete files, set Permissions to Read AND Write. If you only want them to be able to use files and not make any changes, set Permissions to Read ONLY.

  • Use the same itunes library in mac book pro and win xp

    Hi,
I wish to copy my itunes music, that is on my mac book pro(osx10.5.4), to an external hard drive and play it on my work pc (win xp- ituns 7).of course without loosing my original folder on the mac. can I do it? how? I tried the consolidate option on my mac and the music was copied to the HD but I cant get the win itunes to recognise it even after changing the music folder in it to the external drive.
    thanks

Windows machines can't access drives formatted in Mac style. This is probably your problem. If the external was formatted to FAT32 then the windows machine could access the drive.

  • Mac and PC  using the same itunes library?

I have my itunes library located on a NAS hard drive, which I have been accessing from my powerbook. Recently I purchased a Apple TV and was given a Dell desktop. What I would like to know is; is there a way to access one library on both a mac and pc and be able to make changes from either machines? I want the desktop just to run itunes so i don't have to have my laptop open every time i want stream content to the apple tv, but i also want to have be able to view and change my library from my powerbook. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do exactly this - it's straightforward but the setup will be slow if you have a big library. First point iTunes at the folder on your NAS drive so that anything you rip in Windows will be stored on the NAS drive. Then - this is the slow bit - in iTunes on the Dell, do Add folder to library and browse to the iTunes music folder on the NAS drive and add that. Warning: this takes a long time - I have 7,000-odd tunes and it took - well, at least three hours: I left mine running and went to bed at that point.

  • HT1373 How can I make all of my devices use the same iTunes library?

I have an iMac, Macbook Air, Macbook, iPad, iPhone and an iTouch. So, as you can imagine, I have many devices that need to be on the same page at all times. I take my Air to campus with me and use it for classes, along with my iPad, so I usually plug my iPad into my laptop for updates, dowloads, transfers, charging, etc... The same with my iPhone. However, when I get home and I plug my iPad or iPhone into my iMac, it does this whole (This iPad is currently synced to another library, would you like to Erase & Sync to this library). No. I want my Air and iMac to be the same so I can plug my devices up to either of them without having to worry about erasing or adding anything that I don't want erased or added.
How, if at all, can I accomplish this?
    Thanks!

You can't.  An iOS device can still be synced with only one computer.  That is making sense have it referer to multiple files from your computer (backup, iTunes medias, sync information).
As you will only sync your iOS with one computer, it is iCloud you need to use to keep all your content in sync.  While on the go, you use your iPad for a purchase for exemple, iCloud will allow you to push that purchase to all your devices automatically.  Though, it doesn't mean that it will sync with any devices.
iCloud will allow you, once properly configure, to use any documents, media, purchases, apps, bookmarks, content, calendar, email... and so one in sync from any of your devices without the assle to sync from an iOS device.
