How to hide a input text field in a login form.
First of all let me state i'm kind of new to AS3.
I'm making a login form, and i've managed to make it work,
but when the form actually moves frames, both the user_field, and
password_field, remains visible...
What am I missing to make those fields disappear?.
Here is my code.
Elliot J. Balanza
thanks.
If I understood your task correctly - why not to use
object.visible = false of remove them from container?

How to allow input text field to accept more than one "specific" answer.
Hi,
I am working for something and trying to create a type-box-based quiz for one of my classes, where an input text field can change it's border color if 2 or more words from an accepted word list is inputed.
For example, Say a list has possible answers: R,G, B, Y for the question "Name 2 colors".
I want to create an input text box where the border of the box will change color if any 2 letters (in the above list) are entered into it.
I've tried setting up a variable NumberSuccesses and setting it so that the number increases by 1 for each letter entered e.g.
if (Ex.text == "R");
NumSuc = NumSuc +1; // the var NumSuc has already been defined earlier in the code
If (Ex.text ''G")
NumSuc = NumSuc + 1
if (NumSuc == 2)
Ex.borderColor = 0x0000FF
but that didn't work.. and I tried doing it with another function which I use for multiple input boxes like if there were boxes A, B, C. I could set up a general function where if the correct answers were entered into A, B, an C respectively, only then will say, a checkmark show up using a
EnableCheckmark (); type function. Not sure how to do it if it's the same text input box though. Also just tried adding it into the same function re.
If (Ex.text == "R" + "G")
Ex.borderColor = 0x0000FF
.. Does anyone know what else I can do?The solution of Nishu with Evaluation Logic:

ADF Mobile: How to change the font size of an Input Text field in .amx view
Is there a way to change the font size of the input data (not the label) in a text field? Changing the font size in the Style Font/Text settings doesn't seem to do anything for the label or the value in the input text field. Is this a bug or is there a way to get this to work?
Hi Anna,
depending on the UI element there are a range of ways. (and I'm sure people will post plenty of answers to tell you how).
However, if generically the fonts in you portal/wd applications are too small, you should consider changing your theme so as to have larger texts. Otherwise you will either need to customise all your applications, or you will get quite a lot of inconsistency of presentation between your various WDA applications.
Do a search on "themes for Web Dynpro ABAP" and you'll find loads of resources.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,

How to add comma and dollar sign that places automatically in input text field
I have this ROI calculator which has several text input field
on frame one with calculate and reset buttons. When a user enters
numerical values in the text field, and jumping to the next field,
I want the input text filed be updated with dollar sign and with
comma.
Next when they hit "ENTER" key or click "Calculate ROI"
button, all the input text fields on frame 2 as a result of
calculations be updated with dollar sign and comma. I also need
that once the comma sign is assigned then it would not add any more
even if user presses the button. Can someone help me in
this?If you want to Set the Comma when you Switch to next Text
Field
Use onKillFocus / onSetFocus Functions.
to restrict multiple comma, Before Adding comma use
myText.text =
myText.text.split(",").join("").split("$").join("");
So this will give you the value without Comma and Dollar
symbol, Now add the Comma and dollar.
or you need to use a Flag for onChange Event. -

Calculations in input text fields
Hello,
I'm making an engineering game. Students need to input force
equations and to check the equation is right it has to add up to
zero. There are two input text fields, one the student sees with
the force values expressed in letters like HA, VA, and MA, and one
hidden field where the values are expressed as numbers. They also
input operators as part of the equation. I need to make it so when
they click a button to check if their equation is correct, the
contents of the text field are calculated to see if the equation
adds up to zero. I know you can express the contents as a number
with say Number (this.my_hidden_text.text), but how do I get the
operators in the equation, which are +, -, *, /, (, ), and ^ to
mean something and do what they're supposed to?
Any assistance would be most welcome.
Thank you for your time,
Beatie3Thank you for your quick response. Would you mind explaining
more how to use the strings method to find the operators, please?
It's a bit messy but my code currently looks like this:

Disable Backspace when in input text fields
Im trying to find a way to disable the keyboard backspace
button from going back a page in the site but allowing it to
function as a character delete when needed for typing in an input
text field of a form.
Strangely this problem only occurs for about a minute after
the page is opened....after that it then works correctly. You can
see what I mean by accessing the site's contact page
www.safetybusiness.co.uk
I have found two different sets of code to disable the
Backspace completely, but this then means it doesn't work at all
when wanting to delete in the text field.
Method 1:
<script type="text/javascript">
if (typeof window.event != 'undefined')
document.onkeydown = function()
if (event.srcElement.tagName.toUpperCase() != 'INPUT')
return (event.keyCode != 8);
else
document.onkeypress = function(e)
if (e.target.nodeName.toUpperCase() != 'INPUT')
return (e.keyCode != 8);
</script>
Method 2:
<script>
function checkShortcut()
if(event.keyCode==8 || event.keyCode==13)
return false;
</script>
<body onkeydown="return checkShortcut()">
Anyone know how I can overcome this?The TextField class has a tab order property. You may want to
look into this. As for disabling the backspace key, you can grab
key presses from user input. I'm not 100% on this but you could use
Flash to test the key being pressed. If backspace is pressed, find
out the current object with focus (unsure of this part), if it's an
input box in flash, have flash handle it or if a text box doesn't
have focus, send it out to javascript to have it handle it. -
Paging a data table with input text fields
I've created a datatable with input text fields so that contents can be edited. I have 'save' and 'cancel' buttons on the page so that changes can be saved or abandoned. That seems to work fine.
However, I have a problem with paging. If I modify an input text field, page to the next page in the datatable and then page back, the modified input text field reverts to the original entry in the database. Does anyone know how I can preserve this change (without issuing a commit) until the user clicks on the save button?
Here is a snippet of jsp with datatable.

Auto-tabbing between input text fields in AS3
Hello-
I am having some trouble figuring out how to work auto-tabbing between input text fields when a user inputs a character. I have a series of text boxes with maxChar set to 1, and when the user inputs a character, I would like it to auto-tab to the next one. I'm putting together a crossword-style banner ad so the auto-tabbing will help tremendously. All the input text fields are instanced on the stage as input1, input2, etc; not called in from a custom class. Also, I've been working with AS3 for about 2 weeks lol!
thanks!Awesome, thank you, that works nicely! Now I need to figure out how to capture individual keyCodes for each input and then come up with a conditional to check for right or wrong answers. I have a "check your answers" button all set up. I think I am almost there, possibly a syntax hiccup for me. Any advice on how to do that would be appreciated.

not sure why the input text fields in design mode are of
different appearances. That is, some input fields are in embedded

have also tried deleted, copy, insert new form's input text at
