How to Identify PERC controller Firmware in ESXi

I hope someone can help.  I've searched VMWare and Google till my eyes are blurry and cannot find any KB articles that explain how to get the firmware version for the PERC controllers.  The VMware KB1027206  titled "Determining Network/Storage firmware and driver version in ESXi/ESX 4.x, ESXi 5.x and ESXi 6.x", lists how to get everything EXCEPT the Firmware version of a SCSI Raid Controller.
The only way I found to find the firmware version is via OpenManage Server Administrator. Unfortunately not all of our hosts have OMSA installed.  Worse, Installing OMSA requires a reboot and I don't have a maintenance window to shutdown hundreds of VM's so the host can be rebooted.
If OMSA can query ESXi and get the Raid Controller version, there must be some command line capable of displaying the Firmware version?
Anybody?

cstuettgen
If that isn't possible, can the command to query the for the Raid controller Firmware be executed manually after OMSA is installed?
Honestly, I'm not sure exactly how it works on ESXi - I'm not sure how "necessary" the reboot is. The packages might be in place for some functions without a reboot.
cstuettgen
Since that is the case, is it possible to install OMSA and start the services from the command line rather than rebooting the host?   After all, ESXi isn't Windows. (Grin!)
Just to be fair, installation of OMSA in Windows doesn't require a reboot at all :)

If you see state other than online, or speed "not established," the HBA is not working, but it may not be connected to anything.
If you think it is connected, get the WWN from the "HBA Port WWN" field, and run
    fcinfo remote-port wwn
If you don't get any information back, you're not seeing any other FC devices (might be a switch zoning issue).
If you see other ports (usually their WWN starts with a 5), but not your LUNs, add -s, and you can see which LUNs have been masked (made available) to this WWN.
If you add -l, you can see the error counters for the link, which should be very low (single digit) and not increasing. If not, you might have a bad cable or SFP/GBIC.
    Hope this helps!

  • "Update for raid controller firmware" in availabel system upgrade does not go away after upgrade

We have two Ironport WSA, one S360 and one S370. Both stil have the "Update for raid controller firmware" still listed in "Available upgrades" even though we have done the update and rebooted the appliances.
How can we confirm that the update is applied?
If it is and the notice is still there how do we get rid of the reminder?

Go to the command line of the appliacne and run "version"
That will show you the current version of the firmware.
If you have record of what was there, you can compare...
Otherwise contact TAC, they can verify that you have the up-to-date version and pull your serial from the distribution list so you don't see it any more.

    Hi
How do I set the firmware password in Mac OS 10.7.2 (MacBook Pro) ?

Firmware password is not much use as any thief can reset it by pulling out the memory chips and putting them back in again.

  • How to identify missing records in a single-column table?

How to identify missing records in a single-column table ?
Column consists of numbers in a ordered manner but the some numbers are deleted from the table in random manner and need to identify those rows.

    Something like:
    WITH t AS (
SELECT 1 ID FROM DUAL UNION ALL
SELECT 2 ID FROM DUAL UNION ALL
SELECT 3 ID FROM DUAL UNION ALL
SELECT 5 ID FROM DUAL UNION ALL
SELECT 8 ID FROM DUAL UNION ALL
SELECT 10 ID FROM DUAL UNION ALL
               SELECT 11 ID FROM DUAL
-- end of on-the-fly data sample
    SELECT  '[' || (id + 1) || ' - ' || (next_id - 1) || ']' gap
      FROM  (
             SELECT  id,
                     lead(id,1,id + 1) over(order by id) next_id
               FROM  t
      where id != next_id - 1
    GAP
    [4 - 4]
    [6 - 7]
    [9 - 9]
    SQL> SY.
P.S. I assume sequence lower and upper limits are always present, otherwise query needs a little adjustment.

  • How can I update the firmware all at once

I'm a tech support in a school, approximately our school has over 500 laptops, how can I update the firmware on all laptops at once?

Apple Configurator is the software you want - and it's free from Apple. However, I'm dubious that firmware can be updated all at once.

How can identify the default currency for a customer?
I know that this is being determined when you create a sales order for a particular customer, for example, so I could break this process open and find out what it uses. But I thought it worth asking in this forum first.

    Hi Gary,
As per my understanding of your question I am replying , If you are looking some thing else then I request you to please elaborate your query.
If you see the BP sales area data in transaction BP, In billing tab you maintain the currency for a customer which is default currency when you create a sales order.

  • How do I install the firmware update for LinkSys E900 router?

    Hi,
I'm using Mac 10.7.5 and a few months back had purchased the E900 wireless router.  It has firmware 1.0.03 installed and I noticed there is a 1.0.04 update.  I downloaded the update, which is a .bin file, but I do not have a CD burner nor access to a Windows machine.  How can I install the firmware update?
    Thanks, - Dave
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Simple, with your wired computer (never wireless) just access the GUI in the router and perform the firmware update.  Just point to the .bin file and away you go.  Make sure to hard reset the router and reconfigure it after you are done.

WA995AA#ABA shows to be a hard drive, not a docking station
