How to Import AVCHD 1080/60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7?

How do I import AVCHD 1080 / 60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7? And if there is no direct way [I certainly haven't found one, but I'm no expert], what additional software would be used? I want to import the files from a Panasonic HDC-HS700 onto an Intel Mac laptop [Mac OSX 10.5.8]? Obviously I don't want to compress & compromise my footage.
I’m sure a simple, straightforward series of steps would help many people with this issue.
Thanks!

Thanks for the response!
I'm guessing you've found ClipWrap2 to be better than competing products [such as AVCHD Converter for Mac, Toast Titanium, or Voltaic].
On to the next steps. Using Clipwrap2, would I leave the checkbox "Convert Audio to LPCM" selected or deselected [and what the heck is LPCM?]. In the pulldown menu would I choose "Rewrap (Don't alter video samples)" or do I save a step by choosing "Apple ProRes 422"?
And finally, am I gaining anything by shooting 1080/60p on this Panasonic HD Camera other than a headache? [Some have suggested this is not a True 60p.]

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
    vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?

You don't. The application opens it when it recognizes it in the correct folder structure.

  • How do I import or export iLife music into Final Cut Pro 7. Thanks

How do I import or export iLife music into Final Cut Pro 7? Thanks.

Locate the .caf file you want to use in FCP in the Finder.  Normally, iLife sound files will be in Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects/(subfolder).
Open the file on SoundTrack Pro, the go to File->Save a Copy As.  In the Save As window that will open, navigate to where you want to save the file, then near the bottom of that window, use the drop-down File Format menu to choose AIFF.  Set the bit depth to 16-Bit Integer and the Sampling Rate to 48000 hz.
Import the resulting AIFF file into your FCP project.

  • I am having problems importing files into final cut pro x

I have tried several time importing files into final cut pro x but it keep say file not writable what should i do?

WWhat exactly are you importing? From where? What version of the software are you using? Where are you trying to import the media to?

  • Every time I import an .fcpxml file into Final Cut Pro X, the timeline doesn't get imported

So I had exported an .fcpxml file from one machine, which i had to format. So, after formatting the machine, each time I import the .fcpxml file into Final Cut Pro X, The timeline remains empty

Use MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free software) to convert the media to something like ProRes 422, then import into FCP X.
MPEG Streamclip can cope with many codecs.

  • How to import unix executable files into Final Cut Pro

A friend wanted me to create a Halo 3 Montage Video for him. He loaded the saved clips onto a flash drive for me but when I put it into my computer the information comes up as Unix Executable Files and I don't know how to import them into Final Cut Pro 7.0.2 or if it's even possible. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Ok. Well, I plug in the flash drive. When it opens there's a folder that says XBox360. When I click on the folder there are 9 files listed that say Data0000, Data0001 etc. The preview option shows a gray folder that says Exec on it and the only information I can find is that it's a Unix Executable File. When I click on more info option everything that pops up is what I've already told you. I tried opening it in the VLC Player but nothing played which makes me think there aren't video files on the flash drive. When I click on the file to open it the Terminal Program appears and lists basic information about the file.
Is there a program that can take these files and covert them into something that can run in Final Cut Pro? Or is that what VLC is supposed to do?

  • Can not import MXF files into Final Cut Pro

I am full of anger and frustration!!! I purchased final cut pro only to find out that it WILL NOT import MXF files. How insane is that? ADOBE - NO PROBLEM. Then I had to go back to YOUR STORE and buy two different file converter applications before I found one that worked. Now FINAL CUT PRO will only import the audio segment of converted files after converting to PRORES in PAVTUBE. Are you BUCKING kidding me? This work flow BLOWS. Why the FELL does this have to be sooooo hard!  I am gone to creative cow and other forums to try to find out why I am sooo stupid that I can't get this simple process sorted out. YOU BUCKING MONEY MACHINE! How many more aps will I have to buy before I can edit CANON XF100 files in Final Cut Pro. BUCK politics! You should make your software with plugins that would allow you to edit without this kind of added step. JUST LIKE ADOBE. I want refunds for my final cut pro purchase. This is BUCKING rediculous. What a waste of time!

Good thing I still have an iMac on Snow Leopard with FCP7 where I can import these files.  I was hoping to upgrade that system next month when the new iMac comes out
There is definite upside to dragging one's feet on upgrades until necessary and this is a prime example. On a desktop running 10.6, and the XF Utility, FCP 7 L&T works reliably. And like you, that's my workflow for FCPX projects. Running 10,7 on a laptop, the EOS plug-in works well for FCPX imports – no workarounds needed. When I finally get around to updating, I will partition the HD, with one SL partition and the other partition with a later OS. Of course this strategy will work only as long as my hardware holds up.

  • How do you import raw motion video projects into Final Cut Pro X

  • How can I get MPEG-2 video into Final Cut Pro X?

Hello!  I have several MPEG-2 video files on which I need to perform some edits.  When I tried to import them into Final Cut Pro, I learned that Final Cut Pro can't import MPEG files.  Okay, so I went into QuickTime and exported one as 720p.  20 minutes later, I had a video that I could load in FCP.  Awesome.  Except that when I watched the video, the audio was waaaaaaaay out of sync.  So, is there a different way I could get this MPEG-2 video into a format that FCP will like while keeping video and audio together?
I would keep trying a few different things without direction, but these videos are like 90 minutes long and the conversion process is lengthy.
    Thanks!

Although I looked up the equipment, I couldn't find what kind of MPEG2. I'm assuming program stream.
I don't know why you had the sync problem with QT. You could bring it into FCP and detach the audio and manually line it up it's off by a constant amount.
Or you can use MEG Streamclip. You will also need the playback component, which is $20. Follow the instructions on the Squared 5 site to install it. Streamclip is worth having even if you don't use it this time around.
    Good luck.

  • How can you fix corrupt Project Files in Final Cut Pro X?

    Hello All,
I have reason to believe that one of my project files in Final Cut Pro X is corrupt.
How may I begin to resolve this issue?  Is there a third party software someone could recommend, like Digital Rebellion (if they have software for FCP X, I'm not sure) that may improve, if not hopefully solve this issue?
    Many thanks!!
    Molly

    Had a similar problem.
    Follow it here:
    http://www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/11076-freeze-during-export
among other steps taken I used Corrupt Clip Finder to isolate/remove the culprit and all was OK after that
no idea how/why the file ( which I''d been using over 5 previous versions) became corrupted

  • Can elements 10 import avchd 1080/60p files?

I am considering getting the Sony HDR-CX700V camcorder and was wondering if elements can import the 1010/60p files?  Anyone know?

Elements has been able to import 1080p60 H264 video as far back as Premiere Elements 7.
Although an editing-preset explicitly for 1080p50/60 video would be the optimal solution, you can get by with using the "DSLR 1080p25/30 (1920x1080p 25fps or 30fps)" preset.
The native-resolution won't be disturbed.  And contrary to the selected framerate, all frames of the video are preserved on output.  (At least, this was true for Premiere Elements 7/8/9 ... I haven't tested this yet in Version 10.)
The tricky part is sharing/exporting the video @ 1080p50/60.  Since Elements doesn't officially support AVCHD 2.0, you can't select 1080p60 from any built-in sharing preset. The only options are to create your own presets from the (2) codecs that support 1080p60 export within Elements:
    (1) Share -> Computer -> Windows Media Video
(This will create a Windows Media Video file...fine if you just want to watch on your PC.)
(Since there's no builtin preset for 1080p60, you need to go to 'advanced options' and edit the fields yourself.)
    (2) Share -> "Mobile Phones and Players" -> "iPod and iPhone"
(This will create an MPEG-4 file with H264-video and AAC-audio, should be compatible with multiple-platforms and media set-top boxes.)
Then click on "Advanced Properties", and manually change these settings:
        Level:  4.2
         Profile: High
Frame Rate [fps] = 59.94  (yes, that's the correct rate for NTSC)
         Frame Width 1920
         Frame Height 1080
          TV Standard NTSC
         Bitrate settings
Bitrate Encoding:  CBR   (VBR has never worked correctly for me)
Bitrate [Mbps] : 28Mbps   (lower number takes up less space, higher number has better quality)
         Select Key Frame Distance
Key frame Distance: 30 frames  (higher number takes up less space, lower number has better random access)

  • How do I import a .swf file into Final Cut Pro 6?

A client has given me a .swf file for use in their commercial. What is the best way to import this file to play full screen full motion?

The Final Cut Pro manual is very misleading. It says:
You can import any files that are recognized by QuickTime, including:
    * Video files: QuickTime Movie, AVI, and Macromedia Flash (video only—you won’t be able to play any audio portions).
But Apple have since removed Flash support from QuickTime so these files can no longer be opened. The best thing to do is ask the client to deliver the file to you as a QuickTime movie.

  • How to get the HPX files into Final Cut Pro 7?

    Hey.
I have a small crisis. Hope someone can help as quickly as possible?! Thank you
I'm working on my bachelor project, and has borrowed a Panasonic HPX 170, and will cut in Final Cut Pro 7. Now I have all the files on a hard drive, and they are MFX files.
    - How do I get them into FCP?
Many thanks for all your help!

    Thanks
But what if the clips are already on my iMac via the hard disk? What you write, is through the camera right?
I've tried to get the files by the camera into FCP, but it did not. It can not find the camera.
    Thanks for your answer
