How to import .eml files to Mail.app?

Hello,
I've been trying to find a less tedious way to migrate from Gmail to iCloud. Trying to drag and drop (or simply move via mail.app options) results in errors. I've been able to move over about 10000 of my 60000 messages so far, but it's been a long process disrupted by the aforementioned errors. Therefore, I've decided to simply download the Gmail messages. Unfortunately, they are in .eml files. Obviously I can open them in mail.app if I ever need them, but it would be much easier to import them into mail.app so they are on the iCloud server on not on my mac. This is good because it saves room on my mac, and also makes searching for old messages easier.
So my question is (and I've been searching all over for this), is there still no way to import .eml files into mail.app? Are there no programs that can at least convert .eml to .mbox?
A workable solution would be a time (life) saver and greatly appreciated!!!

In case anyone runs into this issue in the future, here is how I moved Gmail messages to iCloud.
1) Download an app for mac called Backup Gmail. Proceed to backup all your Gmail messages to your mac by following instructions given. The files will be in .eml.
2) Download emailchemy from the link above. Proceed to convert .eml messages to .mbox.
3) Open mail.app and go to File > Import Mailboxes. Follow on screen instructions. Depending on how many messages you have, this can take a while. When done you will see a folder called "import-1" in your mail.app under On My Mac. At this point your Gmail messages are able to be used in mail.app and if you are happy with this, don't go to step 4. In step 4 we will move the messages to your iCloud server.
4) This is where things get tedious and tricky if you have a lot of messages. Go to each folder in your "import-1" folder and select all messages. Then drag and drop them either in your iCloud inbox or any designated folder in iCloud. It appears that your sent messages are mixed in here, so it's not a clean solution, but the best one I've found so far. This process can take a long time if you have a lot of messages and you might run into some errors, but it works.s
If anyone has an easier solution, please do share!

  • Import .eml files to Mail

I have a folder on my Mac with about 100 .eml files, which were dragged and dropped out of Microsoft Entourage a few months ago.
Is there way to import this whole folder and its .eml files into a mailbox inside Apple Mail?
I can do it one by one by opening a single .eml file in Mail and moving it to the mailbox: Message menu -> Move To -> [Mailbox]
However I would like to do this in one go.  I tried EmailConverterLite from the App Store, and while it works quite well, imported messages do NOT have a paperclip symbol if they have attachments.  This is a real pain as you would have to look through all messages to find messages with attachments.
    Any ideas would be great.
    Thank you.

  • Importing eml files into Mail

    Hi,
I have thousands of emails that I need to import into Mail (v 2.0.7) for archival purposes. We want to start using Mail as the default e-mail client and all of our current e-mail messages are in "eml" format which can be read by Entrouage. We need to have access to these old e-mails for refrence, etc.
I have tried going through the Mail import option with no luck. It appears to only want to import mbox files. I understand that Mail uses mbox files which-in turn-contain emlx files. This is so spotlight can search them.
So my question is how do I convert the eml files to emlx files?
And once they are emlx files how do I get them into Mail?
    Thanks!
    Dual 2.7 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    I go under file/import mailboxes.
Then I am given the options of:
    Microsoft Entourage
    Outlook Express
    Claris Emailer
    Netscape/Mozilla
    Eudora
    Mail for Mac OS X
    Other
I select "other" and then click continue. I then navigate to the desktop and find the folder that has the .eml files in it, and click "choose."
I then get a dialog box saying "Error, No valid mbox files were found." I click "OK" and am left with a dialog with a blank list of items to import. This is where I am stuck.
Now I've downloaded "emlx to mbox converter" but the files I have are .eml not .emlx
I have searched the web in vain for how to convert .eml to .emlx. Simply changing the suffix on a file does not do it. I've tried that and then used the emlx to mbox converter and ran it through the Mail import process—no go.
So where I am now is a folder full of .eml files that I need to convert to .emlx files. Once I have those I can run the emlx to mbox converter.
Thanks for any guidance you can give.

    Hi Sandeep,
I think you can setup the type of email in Shared office Settings in transaction S016.
There is an option called <Preset document classes>
You choose this pushbutton to branch to the maintenance screen for the document classes that are directly displayed to users in the Business Workplace for selection when they use the Create function. The name under which the documents are displayed can also be maintained.

  • How to import DivX files???

How to import DivX files??? File format not supported... Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.

I am with you, as I get handed all sorts of "stuff." I have a normal workflow, with about anything but DV-AVI (I only do SD for now), and that is do a batch conversion with DigitalMedia Converter. I have also found that some other NLE's are more lenient, regarding odd CODEC's. I have used PrElements, CyberLink PowerDirector (does DivX pretty well, with the CODEC installed) and Magix MovieProducer Pro.
Still, PrPro is my NLE of choice by a great stretch, and I just use the others as tools to get the media in the proper form. I have been amazed at the spectrum of formats/CODEC's that people come up with, but also by how well (when you factor out those heavily compressed deliver-only format/CODEC's and the quality loss) I can convert, and then edit some of this stuff.
It's just the way that it goes. It's like the client, who comes in with a DVD, created in some DVR unit, and wants it edited and shipped off on another DVD. Quality loss with 2x MPEG-2 Transcodes, and the first VOB is going to also have cr*p Menus and navigation, that I have to rip around. Still, the job gets done.
With the Moyea FLV Importer for Premiere, I can even edit that junk, when they pull something off of YouTube (only if the © issues can be handled).
Good luck, and sorry for the bad news. PrPro is very sensitive to the CODEC's that it will edit with. Others, well not so much, but who would want to edit with them?
    Hunt
[Edit] PS - I have never been able to Export to Xvid, though I can Export to DivX just fine. Xvid hangs PrPro, and PrE too.

  • Cannot forward one page PDF files from mail app

My earlier topic had incorrect problem report so I've created a new topic.
The problem is i cannot forward one page PDF file from mail apps. I use imap set up for my work email.
Multi page PDFs, photos, docs, numbers, all forward OK for both windows and Mac formats.

Update: I hade had a reply from the Good Reader app developer saying this is a known issue even for them. However, they don't know if Apple will fix this or not.
Basically mail app treats all one page PDF as if it's an image and will forward it the same as it would an image. Any non-apple based mail programs will have issues viewing this file..

How do you create folders in mail app? Is there a way in 3GS IOS 5?

This is very disappointing, and i find it hard to believe that Apple would do this intentionally. It worked on previous versions of email application. Apple please don't dishonor the image of Steve Jobs this way. Fix this right away. I can't think of anything more basic than being able to organize the email that you download into folders. This absolutely ***** ... What a stinker.....
I can't think of anything more idiotic than invoking the memory of Jobs here. Are you truly unaware that the iPad and iOS is pretty much exactly the way he wanted it to be, just like about everything else Apple?
As to your claim of "previous email applications", certainly none in iOS ever did that, and the only folders you can create and manipulate in POP accounts are those local to only that single machine or platform, not particularly helpful or desirable in today's environments.

after you bring in all your images to the canvas, select all
    and in the
Frames Options drop down, select Distribute to Frames.
You can bring multiple images onto the canvas by copy and
    pasting from

I recently purchased a Sony HandyCam HDR-SR10 Camera. I love the camera overall but now i have video files that i need to put on my computer. After speaking with Sony Support they said that in order to transfer files i must use the camera as a hard drive basic stuff just click and drag. However i ran into the problem that all of my AVCHD Files were not able to be opened by any program. After reading up and looking around i found that it seems Final Cut Express 4 now has the ability to import AVCHD files DIRECTLY from the camera to Final Cut Express...
