I need to figure out how to boot from my CD ROM drive, so if someone could help me out finding out what the name of that drive is on my machine (Netra T1 200) and what command specifies to boot from this drive I would greatly appreciate it, thanks alot!

Can please someone tell me how to install a fresh copy of windows xp on my computer from scratch? All I know that I have to press F6 at some time and insert one of the disks but I don't know which one. And I don't know when to insert a second disk.

How do I install a fresh copy of WinXP SP on Protege 2000

I have this P2000 since a month, which has a running version of Windows XP Professional. As it had encountered problems and frequent crashes and delayed reboot and gotten to become slow to a point where booting it up to see the windows desktop seems like an achievement.
I took the necessary back up, and now am planning to install a fresh copy. I burned a Bootable CD containing to set up files and tried booting the P2000 with an USB-CD/DVDROM. I even changed the bios setting to boot from the CD-ROM, and yet it fails to boot. It says some error.
My HDD is MK2003GAH 1.8 inch.

the problem is :
1 : the bios of your portege only recognizes a few CDrom devices
2 : the installation procedure of Windows XP doesn't know how to cope with the external CDrom devices
the only way is to go back to a DOS environment ( fat32 ) and load the proper drivers for your USB-CDrom from a floppy-disk and than start the DOS-installation of XP ( winnt.exe )

Hi, I have a Lion installed on a Mackbook Pro 2011, I had Leopard, then Snow Leopard and then Lion, but with so many instalations without formating the system is not working well, I am using an iMac at work with a clean install and is much more stable.
How can I format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Lion???

Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

As you need to be on 10.6 to be able access the App Store to download Lion, either get replacement discs via Applecare (you'll need the MBP's serial number to get the right ones) or get the SL retail disc. I would recommend the Original disc replacement set (assuming they were 10.6) as they carry not onlyApple Hardware Test for your model, but the iLife apps other bundled sftware that isn't on the retail disc.
Once you've installed, and used Software Update to get to 10.6.8, you can then get Lion if you're feeling masochistic.

I have went to Settings>General>Accessibility>Voice Over(Which is off)>Languages & Dialects>Default Dialect(Set to U.S. English) and turned enhanced voice on. I watched it download the enhanced voice. Still the same thing. I have powered off the phone and powered it back on. Siri still sounds like the siri of old. I have performed a hard reboot. Siri still sounds the same. When I first got the phone she sounded as advertised. Is there anything else I should try?

Transferring does not usually work - you need to install using installation files, the same way you originally installed the program(s).

Just re-installed a fresh copy of CS6 Photoshop on my Yosemite Mac Book Pro and somehow the Adobe Application Manager does not work and therefore cannot verify my copy. What should I do?
I get a message saying that Adobe Application Manager may be damaged and that I should install a new version of AAM. But after downloading a fresh copy of AAM and doing the install, the program (AAM) still will not install. It is like an infinite loop!

I'm sorry but I am not on Creative Cloud. I'm still on CS6 and it was the Adobe Application Manager that wasn't working and I could not install the update to this application. My AAM version is: 8.0.0160

Folks, network printers should NOT BE configured like this:
lpadmin -p somequeue -s someprinter
that creates a remote style queue and puts all the I/O and processing capability on the basic LPD listener present on network printer interfaces. This will cause problems down the road, not to mention that you cannot control access, get any logging, filter content, or control banner pages.
Network printers should use any software (or PPD file) supplied by the vendor over the basic lpadmin/netstandard config.
You can install CUPS, but Oracle won't support it until it's part of the OS (S11, apparently).
The "System Administration Guide: Solaris Printing" is highly recommended for those administering printers on Solaris.

First of all, I have to ask, why to you "need" to install a fresh copy of OSX?
This may mean that your hard drive is failing, so hopefully you have a backup.
I'm assuming you were in your recovery partition when you did this.
I would, from the recovery partition, repair your hard drive and permissions.

And then try to create the partition again.
If that doesn't work, you have a few options:
Try a third party utility like DiskWarrior or TechTool which may be able to repair your hard drive:
DiskWarrior 4 - The Disk Utility for Mac Disk Repair, Mac Directory Repair, Mac Disk Recovery, Mac Data Recovery or Techtool Pro 7
Try internet recovery, perhaps erase the entire hard drive and reinstall ML.
If nothing else works, then I'd replace the HD and start over.

after I uninstalled Kaspersky Internet Security webpages stopped loading. I'm getting Unable to connect message. This issue affected 3 out of 4 browsers that I use. All browsers work in safe mode, but Safari is the only one that works in normal mode. IE Chrome, and Firefox will not work. I thought I need to make a fresh install of the browser to work. First I've tried to reset Firefox to to default settings - this didn't solve issue. I want to get a fresh copy of OS X Mavericks on my iMac 12,1 (mid-2011 - i5 2,5GHz, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon 6750M with 512MB) with broken SuperDrive. I made a pendrive with DiskMaker X, but I can't boot it anymore on iMac. My flash drive isn' corrupt - it performs well on MacBook Pro. What can I do to install it on iMac?

Do you have a friend -- or possibly a Mac ot work -- from which you could make a new USB Mavericks installer? I only say that because I've read of a few problems here and there with boot drives made with DiskMaker X. What I'd recommend, if it's at all possible, is to download the latest Mavericks DMG file, reformat the USB drive with a fresh GUID partition and then burn the disk image onto it with the Mavericks built in createinstallmedia method. This is, in fact, the very article which got me onto the right path.
You'd think that a bootable Mavericks installer would be a bootable Mavericks installer no matter how it was made. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case.
