How to install Lion on the extra mac
I have installed Lion on my Imac and I will have the same OS in my macBook Pro too.
Doi I have to pay an extra licence now?
If you own the machine, no. There is no more family pack. Simply sign into the app store and download Lion again on your second machine, then install. You could create an installation DVD from the installer you downloaded for your first machine (if you haven't already run the installer, which will self delete during the installation process).

How to install lion cleaning the hard drive
I have a MacBook I am currently running Liuon but have previously installed Leopard and Snow Leopard without clearing the hard drive first.
The machine has now three operating systems installed and is running very slow.
It has been suggested that I make a copy of the hard drive, before erasing all the information and loading Lion on a clean hard drive.
How do i do this?Install Lion to a blank drive or partition, including one created with the Disk Utility, and then either use the Migration Assistant or copy your files to the new system manually as desired.

How to install on new (late 2010) Mac Pro
I am going to use Migration Assistant to transfer my data from my old G5 to my new Mac Pro, but would appreciate advice on how to install AW on the new Mac. I have my original Appleworks 6 DVD with the notation in small print: Version 6.2.9 (circa 2003). I then also have a CD that I burned and labeled "Appleworks 6.2.9 Updater". I vaguely remember doing this, but can not recall what it was for. Please advice. Thanks!
OK, got it by installing from the disk and the computer sending me to Rosetta. Much simpler than I expected. Appleworks rocks .

I own two I macs. I bought and installed Lion on one computer. How can I install Lion on the other compute without additional charge?
If it's the same email address Apple registration on both, use the 2nd computer and go to the App Store and find Lion. If different, use the second computer but log in to the App store with the address you used on the first go round. The buy button should instead say install. Then go through the same process again.

How can I re-install Snow leopard having installed Lion? The disk supplied states that I cannot use the version of 'Install Mac OS X'...HELP!
None of the instructions usually given for downgrading seems to mention the fact that you will lose some data in built-in applications, including at least Mail. When you installed Lion, your Mail database was converted from the format used by Snow Leopard's Mail to that used by Lion's Mail. There is no way to reverse that conversion. Therefore, you will lose your entire Mail database. If your messages are all stored on a remote server, that may not be an insurmountable problem, but otherwise you'll have to restore from the last backup you made before the upgrade, and then you'll still lose all changes to the database made since that time.
Another fact not often mentioned is that downgrading is usually the worst possible solution to a problem with Lion. But that's the answer to a question you didn't ask. -

Once again as Sig said a Google search produced

as the results which is a comparison of the vector drawing packages currently available.
You really need to start using Goole search.

i installed lion from the internet, i wanted all the stuff on it erased but it didnt do it, how do i get my computer to factory settings so it is like it was new just with a fresh copy of lion on it
Music is not included in the backup (and nor are films or tv shows), only the contents of third-party apps are included. Did you not do File > Transfer Purchases when connected to your computer's iTunes to copy your iTunes purchases over, and/or have you not got a backup copy of your music somewhere e.g. on an external drive ?

You don't. Apple no longer ships Front Row... it's part of the OS... so it goes away when you upgraded. -
How to install Lion on older Mac Pro
I had a Macbook Pro that I installed Lion onto. The Macbook pro overheated and is now dead. I'd like to install Lion on my older Mac Pro (can't install Maverick on this computer) and when I go to the app store it says Lion isn't available in the U.S. Anyway to get it onto this computer? If not, I have no way of syncing this Mac.
Then: Contact Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers.

Hi All,
I'm trying to resume regular scheduled Full backup ( ~ 1 TB ) of drives using external HD (to allow off-site redundant backup storage) .
What are relative speeds of USB vs. Firewire vs. eSATA ?
I suspect eSATA connection may be considerably faster … how to install eSATA on mid-2010 Mac Pro desktop ( dual hex-core processors)?
( The quicker and easier backup protocol is, the more likely one is to use it to backup on a routine repetitive basis.)
ThanksJim Bogy wrote:

Adding a USB 3.0+eSATA PCIe card, which The hatter mentions, is the best solution that I've found. See http://eshop.macsales.com/item/CalDigit/FASTA6GU3/. The card is not cheap, but the USB 3.0 works flawlessly (which can't be assumed; ask me how I know) and the eSATA connection allows booting from the connected drive. Grant Bennet-Alder's point about HD speed is important to consider; in addition, the size of the individual files being backed up and where on the backup disk they're going will affect overall transfer speed. For example, using the USB 3.0 connection on that CalDigit card going to a Toshiba 3TB external, the transfer rate for a big file (say a virtual machine file) from an internal SSD boot drive was about 145 MB/sec while a bunch of little files might drop to 30 MB/sec and both rates decrease as an inner partition on the external is used. All told, a nearly 700 GB backup took under 1.5 hours. Using a HD as the source added almost an extra hour, though a WD external was used for that. Using a WD green drive plugged into this http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/FWU3ES2HDK/ with an eSATA connection took about 2.5 hours also, but that was bootable whereas the USB 3.0 connection is not.
Another point to consider is that USB 3.0 is ubiquitous on PC's now so there's lots of price competition for externals; not so much for eSATA externals. -
Installing Lion and formatting my Mac (with Snow Leopard)
Hey everybody!
I have a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard.
I want to install Lion from the App Store and format my Mac. How should I do it?
Thanks!Aha!
The proper way to "clean" a computer before selling it is to zero the hard drive. This will make all your data irretrievable.
Steps for zeroing the drive Disk Utility:
1. Insert your Mac OS X CD-ROM disc or Restore DVD disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key until you see the spinning gear.
2. Once started up from CD or DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
3. Choose the entire disk (top icon).
4. Choose erase tab.
5. Click on Options
6. Choose "write zeros".
7. Erase
This will take a bit of time because the computer is physically writing zeros to each block.
You should then re-install the original OS from the system disks and deliver the Mac to the new owner with the system disks that shipped with it.
If you want it to boot as new at startup, do the installation of OS X and follow the onscreen prompts until it asks you to enter a username and password to create your first account. Quit the installer and shut down the system. The next time the system is powered on it will display the same welcome message and be ready to setup OS X.
Or you can delete the AppleSetupDone file.
rm -rf /var/db/.AppleSetupDone -
How to install and use the Khmer unicode Khmer MEF1 and Khmer MEF2?
How to install and use the Khmer unicode Khmer MEF1 and Khmer MEF2?
from www.mef.gov.kh in the bottom of the page, you can get the unicode for the ms officeI think that stuff is for windows, a waste of time trying to use it on a Mac.
There is no need to download anything for Khmer on a Mac. Apple provides Khmer fonts and keuyboards with OS X.
OS X Mountain Lion: Type in another language
MS Word for Mac does not support Khmer. Use TextEdit, Pages, Nisus Writer, LibreOffice instead -

Is it possible to install Lion on the second hard disk on my Mini (2010) Snow Leopard Server, and switch between Lion and Snow Leopard? I like those voices Lion has in speech.
When baltwosaid NO emphatically, that was described as CORRECT ANSWER. Ditto in the caeses of the radically different answers from Camelotand Matt Clifton
Could it be that CORRECT ANSWER needs better defining by Apple?
That apart, yes, switching might involve rebooting. About the voices, well, I was the other day adding voice to a commentary in a video I was working on. There's only American English accent in SL — Lion I believe has British ones as well.
Why not, I wondered, try to install Lion purely for academic interest, maybe with an SD card (Sandisk Ultra II, 16GB) as Tom Nelson says is possible at http://macs.about.com/od/macoperatingsystems/ss/Perform-A-Clean-Install-Of-Os-X- Lion-On-Your-Mac.htm
