How to install W7 Promise driver for K9A2 Platinum

First of all i assume no responsability for any loss of data ,everything described here is done on your own risk.BACK-UP data before doing this.
Any K9A2 Platinum v1 user was disapointed when looking on the product page seeing no W7 driver.As a MSI tech recommended a driver from Promise i said to myself to try it and of course , it did not installed the normal way.You could force it tru HAve Disk from within Windows 7 only when running form the SB 600 .Also Windows updates installs an update for the cip.
The procedure is simple ,practically you only need to edit one or 2 INF files depending on the W7 version.
FTTX4650-2650 controllers are both compatible with Windows 7 as the Microsoft website shows.
Download driver from Promise website the driver for FTTX4650-2650 Win7 Win2008R2 WHQL V 1.3.0.4 -> file name FTTX4650-2650_Win7_Win2008R2_WHQL_V_1.3.0.4
Unzip the archive and navigate to the i386 or/and amd64 folders locate <FTT3s.inf> file/s ,open with Notepad.For the .inf extension to be visible go to File & Folder Options and enable extensions to be visible.
Under the [Promise] section add the folowing lines ,this ID s were harvested from within Windows 7 Promise properties ,when no driver was installed

Thats very easy to install the LAN driver.
On the Toshiba website you can search for it:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download drivers
Select the right notebook. In your case its the Satellite Pro => Satellite Pro A Series => Satellite Pro A120.
And then choose at operating system Windows XP and at Driver type LAN Driver.
Click on search and you will get the right driver.
Download and install it. How this works did Jimi said.

proceed as below.
1)Log in to HP-UX as root (or an other username that controls the printers, and has all the rights to the directories).
2)Type sam on the command line and press enter.
3)Scroll to Printer and Plotters with the vertical scrollbar.
4)Click twice on Printers and Plotters.
5)Double click on LP Spooler.
6)Click twice on Printers and Plotters.
7)Select Actions on the menu bar and click on Add Remote Printer/Plotter.
8)For Printer Name type any name, Remote System Name use the DNS/Host name, or alternatively use the dotted-IP (200.200.200.11). Remote Printer Name should be one of the destination ports on the Printnet (d1prn, d2prn, etc.). Also select Remote Printer is on a BSD System. Press OK and the server will install the printer.
9)Click on OK.
10)For a test print type lp d Printername /etc/protocols.
And finally dont forget to make this printer as the default printer if u have only this.
Right click on the printer and and say make default.

I am unable to install a software driver for a Canon film scanner FS4000US. I have downloaded it from Canon then open the package click the install and it asks for a location namely the Applications folder. Then it says it has been installed re -start etc, but still no driver.

You can address the problem in a number of different ways.
You can install X-windows from the installation DVD or setup access to the Oracle public software repository as described in http://public-yum.oracle.com. In which case, the command to install X-windows is: yum groupinstall "X Window System"

A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.
