How to install windows server 2003 on Sunfire x4150?

hi, i'm very new to Sun server.Sorry if i dont know anything about it. But now i have to install Windows Server 2003 on this Sunfire x4150 server. How can i do that? I've try to install but it give me error about the driver.
Some question:
1. Can i install both Sun Os (Solaris?) and Windows Server together? If cant, can i format the Solaris OS and install a fresh Windows?
2. OR actually i should install inside a Virtual Machine?
Here are some links that i found. Am i following the right direction? The article suggest me to download FloppyPack from Sun's website. So, should i just downlaod the FloppyPack (360+KB) ? I dont need to download other driver package?
http://www.seedsofgenius.com/pdf/wp1.pdf
http://dlc.sun.com/pdf/820-5837-10/820-5837-10.pdf
Sorry, i have totally no idea at all.
Thank you very much if you can help me . OTL

Might be a bit late for you, but if this helps anyone else, good.
I had the same issue with an X4600 lately. You need to download the Sun Installation Assistant cd and boot from it to install anything other than Solaris. This cd is similar to the ones that Compaq andDell sendout with their servers. It will do a semi automatic install after you give it the information about the os, set up disks, etc.
Easy to do, search the sun support site for the SIA image particular to your hardware.

To start the BIOS setup utility:
    1 Shut down the computer.
2 Press the Novo button and then select BIOS Setup
There should be a tab labelled something like "Configuration" and on that page something like "SATA controller mode".  Select "compatible" and save and exit.

  • How to install windows server 2012 r2 without remove the current windows 8.1

how to install windows server 2012 r2 without remove the current windows 8.1

Use guide below to convert it to 'basic' disk, or install windows on another drive. The supported way is to delete all partitions and convert it to a basic disk.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755238.aspx
However, your windows 8.1 must be on another drive?, as windows cannot boot from a dynamic disk.

I don't think you can do it without a shutdown. This also depends on the types of services, roles etc hosted on the server.

  • How to install Windows Server 2008 (dualboot) on a PC with Windows 8.1 already on it?

Hi, I bought a new PC with preinstalled Windows 8. Now I need to install Windows Server 2008. Anyone can advise me how to
do it? It has to be in dual boot, in Virtual Machine the display is way too small

You should check out the Boot-to-VHD capability.
Here is how we do it in a lab environment which we got from a Microsoft lab:
-Verify your computer is running Windows 7 or later.
-Verify you have full administrator rights to your currently installed operating system.
-Verify hard disk encryption or other pre-boot security is turned off.
-Confirm that hardware virtualization technology and memory protection are both enabled in your computer's BIOS setup.
Now we just setup the a VHD with an operating system on it (can even use a downloaded server 180 day trial VHD if you are in a rush). Then go to Disk Management and select Attach VHD and point to the file. Note the drive letter that is assigned to the
    mounted VHD.
Run a command prompt as administrator and type: " bcdedit /export BCDBackup.bak " to create an exported backup of your boot loader configuration. Now type bcdboot [drive]:\windows.
Now to test your dual-boot configuration, restart your computer and select the new OS boot option.
An optional last step would be when complete to restore your boot loader by running "bcdedit /import BCDBackup.bak" and delete any VHD files.
A more detailed guide written for Windows 7 but still applies for Windows 8 can be found at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/windows-7-boot-from-vhd.aspx
    Hope that helps.

  • How to install Windows Server 2012 Macbook Pro?

Need to ascertain if I can install Windows Server 2012 and Sharepoint Server on an Intel i7 Quad Core 4 GB RAM 15" Macbook Pro.
Else will have to buy a PC for this learning experience. Any help is welcome

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Apple only supports client versions in Macs, but you should be able to install Windows Server. However, note that you may have problems installing Boot Camp drivers in order to make it work correctly.
If you only want a computer for Windows Server, buy a PC. Macs aren't completely ready for Windows Server editions even if they may work

  • How to install Windows Server 2012 as a Virtual Machine on Window 7 64 bit machine

    Hi All,
I need to install virtual Window Server 2012 on Window 7 machine(8gb ram,64 bit machine).
Please give me the list of required softwares to install. If possible the please give download link as well.
    Thanks

Since you're on Windows 7 I'd probably go for using VirtualBox
https://www.virtualbox.org/ to host the virtual machine.
Downloading 2012 depends what you're after really, if you've got TechNet / MSDN then you can download it from there, otherwise you'd need to have a licenced copy. You can download 180 day evaluation versions from the Microsoft website here :

  • How to install Windows Server 2012 on a Mac Mini

Well the title says it all. I am in a small apartment and am setting up my home network. I purchased a Mac Mini to run Apple OS X Server on and also make sure that I can pass the certification test for Apple. But I would also like to set up a Windows Domain Controller so that I can either:
Have a Mac Mini I can dual boot
    - or -
Purchase a second Mac Mini and just put Windows Server 2012 on it.
Now you might ask why buy a mac and run windows. Well for one I need to get my MS certs up to date and for another, I am space constrained and the Mini is nice, small, and fits perfect where I would set it.
I have tried this following boot camp and some other guides. However, when I boot it never sees the attached USB or it never boots from the attached USB.
I have placed the Windows partition on the secondard disk drive as well, not the primary. Do not know if this makes a defference, from what I read it should not.
Thanks in Advance for any advise, guidance, or sections to read. Maybe Apple will officially support Windows 8 which should retroactively support 2012 before year end.

Not really sure what to say except that it worked perfectly on my MacBook Pro.  Like you, I need to update my Certs.  I have a working SQL Server wherever I go w/o need to buy another laptop.  I installed from DVD.
    good luck.

  • How to install windows server 2008r2 on proliant microserver with 8gb storage?

I've just purchased two HP Proliant N40 Microservers and am trying to install Windows 2008 Server R2 on them.  They come with a single hard drive of just 250GB capacity so on one server I have used the two supplied drives to create a RAID1 array of 250GB and Windows installed fine.
On the second I have installed four WB Green 2TB drives and have configured them as RAID10 for the best performance and resilience. So I have a single disk showing to Windows of 4GB after the RAID array is built.
But Windows gets so far before failing saying it can't proceed (and giving no clue as to why). Googling the issue it seems that there is an issue with installing Windows on a drive with > 2TB.  HP themselves talk about the use of RAID drivers for Windows here: http://h20584.www2.hp.com/hpgt/guides/select?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=4248009&lan... but the link is useless because the link it gives for downloading the driveres just displays a "Not authorised" screen.
I just want a simple way to install Windows 2008 using a secure, performant reliable set of discs.  RAID10 gives me that but Windows won't install.  It seems my only option is to format two RAID1 arrays to overcome this silly limitation.
Am I right?  Or is there a way to configure the four disks as a RAID10 array that Windows can be installed on?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Ian

Update, install continues when drives are set to IDE...so it fails using RAID (1 or 10).

  • Cannot install Windows server 2003 SP1

Hi all,do you know something about "Not enough free space" issue when upgrading windows 2003 under bootcamp with Service Pack 1?
I'm going crazy but it seems it is an issue related to "boot camp" or well "on macintosh install".
I get an error message when istalling windows 2003 SP1 and it is :" Space on disk in C:..... not sufficient for Service Pack 1 installation. Installer require 3 megabyte additional space.
    C: 17 Gb free
i've tried on external HD 180GB not working...
This check is on Space required for uninstall files....
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Considering the fact that Boot Camp only supports XP SP2, it comes as no surprise that you're having issues with an OS other than XP.
Either way, your question pertains to Boot Camp, so you should re-post it in the Boot Camp discussions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1165
Or better yet, the error seems to be with Windows, and completely unrelated to Boot Camp so you should post your question on a Windows discussion board as well.

  • How to Expand the Screen of Windows Server 2003 on VMware Server 2 ?

    Folks,
Hello. Because Windows 7 is not compatible to be installed PeopleSoft PIA, I have to install VMware Server 2 and then install Windows Server 2003, that is compatible with PIA, on the virtual machine.
But when I open Windows Server 2003 on the virtual machine, the screen of Win2K3 is very small, and its size is about 1/4 of the screen of my computer screen. This is not comfortable to work for a long time.
Does any folks know how to expand the screen of Windows Server 2003 on VMware Server 2 virtual machine so that its size covers the entire screen of my computer ?
    Thanks in advance !
    Lucy

Did you already installed the VMWare tools onto your VMWare guest OS ? Generally, it helps a lot to be able to redefine a larger screen definition.

  • How To Configure GP For Client DC on Windows Server 2003

    Dear all,
I have been installed windows server 2003 and make one DC on my server. And i create several group and want to make policy for that each group. For example I have created '2014' group and all user who join my dc and registered as a part of '2014' group couldn't
access their browser such as Firefox and IE and couldn't access their bluetooth.  How can I make it possible?
    Thanks before.
    Warm Regards,

    Hi Denni Sembiring,
Could you clarify your question “all user who join my dc and registered as a part of '2014' group couldn't access their browser such as Firefox and IE and couldn't access their
Bluetooth”, are you want to realize to limit some user can access the specific software and computer device? GPOs can be linked to the following levels:
    •Site
    •Domain
    •Organizational Unit
We can not link GPO to group, if you want to limit specific user can only access specific software you can refer the following KB to restrict user access.

  • About memory issue during installing Oracle 11g on Windows Server 2003

    Hi, all
When I installed Oracle 11g on Windows Server 2003 which the server is a virtual server, Oracle only can detect 2G memory.
But there are 4G memory with my server.
I want to know if the Oracle 11g's new feature or the virtual server lead the issue.
Also , I want to get your help to resolve the issue, thanks a lot.

    Let me get this straight:
You have created some virtual machine using someone's unknown VM software.
You have installed Windows Server 2003 (perhaps, but not confirmed 32-bit) to that VM.
You have allocated 4GB of memory to the VM (we guess ... not sure I'm ready to take your word on this)
You are attempting to install Oracle 11g (presumably 11gR1 32 bit for Windows) in the VM
And the Oracle (installer?) seems to be reporting that you only have 2GB RAM.
Since I personally have installed Oracle 11g 32bit for Windows on Windows 2003 server with 4GB RAM and had no issues, I would be investigating the (unknown) VM environment.
