How to intergrate Outlook addressbook with information broadcasting

Hi All,
I have been able to send mail to my outlook thro information broadcasting. I would like to integrate outlook address book in broadcasting. ie. when a user is trying to send mail, he would like to get all mail address from his outlook in portal.
How can we do this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
With the distribution type Precalculated Value Set it is possible to fill variables of the type precalculated value sets with values for characteristic values in the background. The precalculated value sets are then available as variable values in BEx queries.
The precalculated value set displays the value of a variable of type Precalculated Value Set from the selected characteristic.
As a result of background processing, you can use the precalculated value set in a characteristic variable. You create a characteristic value variable in the Query Designer using the variable editor. Under Details you determine that the variable represents a precalculated value set. The value of this variable is the technical name of the value set specified in the broadcast setting. You enter the technical name in the Default Values tab page. The variable can be input ready and you can select different value sets in the variable screen at query runtime.

Issue with Information broadcasting and pre-cal server in SAP BI

Hi Experts,
I have issue with information Broadcasting and Pre-cal server. I have a worrkbook whcih runs from information broadcasting in pre-cal server. Workbook is desinged on single query and workbook contains visual basic code. workbook has a variable which is controlled by Control query in information broadcasting.
I have 20 employees every month I need to send workbook via e-mail from information broadcasting. The problem is sometimes all 20 employees will recieve e-mails and sometimes not. I identified there is something wrong in workbook or in pre-cal server.
because after workbook calculation in pre-cal server is not pushing to SOST so there is something wrong in workbook or in pre-cal server.
I closely observed pre-cal server front end log. There are few operations performing on workbook in pre-cal server
like Open workbook, Calculate workbook, Save woorkbook and close workbook. In success case pre-cal sever is performing all the operations but in failure case pre-cal server is missing Close workbook case.

I went into RSPRECADMIN and clicked on 'Display Current Queue'. There we have 3 sections
1) Queue Overview of Open Precalculations
I can see this section is always blank after running IB also
2) Queue Overview of Current Precalculations
In this section I can see an entry after running IB and duration is changing. but some time workbook in this section will never processed but the duration column is changing may be something is happening at this stage.
If the entry is not proccessed in this section and IB SM37 job will never end. I manually cancelled the job from SM50.
Don't why the workbook is taking long time and will never end even though I cancelled the SM37 IB job.
3) Queue Overview of Proccessed Error-Free Precalculations
All the error free workbooks which means all pre-cal server completed workbook calculation and sent to SOST.
I manually ran the workbook for all the 20 employees I can't find any pop-up message (earlier we have pop-up windows appearing because of VB code and when report returns no data and we fixed the pop-up issues)
Can you please help me further to trace the error.

You can sync your mail, contacts and calendar with Google Sync. Tasks and notes are not supported. (Notes syncing is not possible with MfE anyway.)

Mail not coming with information broadcasting scheduling

dear all,
when i execute directly the setting for information broadcasting a mail is being sent but when i schedule the same setting in transaction SOST it is showing warning 'waiting for communication service'.how to remove that.

Issue with Information Broadcasting...urgent

I try to dispatch a query through Information Broadcasting with the Distribution type chosen as "send as e-mail" and output format as HTML.
I am receiving the mail with three attachments,
1.0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING_00001.htm.HTM
2.BWReports_ie5.css.CSS
3.pixel.gif.GIF
Upon saving all the files in a folder and opening the HTML,it appears without the stylesheet properties and the images.
My requirement is I need to get the report embedded in my mail.Any clue how to acheive this and should I change any settings.Also any idea as to why the images are not displayed in the HTML.Any kind of help will be appreciated as it is very urgent.

In the Broadcast setting, output format select <b>Independent HTML file</b> and you will receive only one file.
I guess your current setting is set to <b>HTML with seperate MIME</b> files.

Pecalculation with Information Broadcasting

hi,
I am try to set up this scenario but somewhere i am missing some setting. I need your suggestions.
I have one query on multiprovider which includes 8 cubes. The query takes half an hour to display the results. So, what i have done is i have done the precalculation of the query for specific selection and executed it. And after that i want to send an email to the users through Information Broadcasting with the link so that when they click on the link they could get the results within a minute along with navigations or drill downs.
I know that this broadcasting can be executed via process chains using trigger event data chain. But i am looking for some help on this.
I would like to set up my report like this:
1) After data is loaded into Cubes, the process chain should kick the job.
2) After process chain kicks the job, the precalculation of the web template should run.
3) After the precalculation is completed an email should be sent to the users via broadcasting with a link of latest data.
Over all, after the data loading finishes, the precalculation should start and after precalculation finishes, email process should kick. ...
How can i acheive this? If there is any wrong sequence above also, please correct me and advise how should i set this up. I could manually do this each step but i want to automate this after every data load. Please advise.

You can achieve thru information broadcasting.
Steps :
1. Create a process chain.
         Start - Trigger Event data change .
         In the trigger Event data change ,you can specify the infoprovider name which you want to precalculate the query for the infoprovider.
2. In the information broadcaster , you will find the option as
              ' Execution with Data change in the infoprovider'.
                     Mark the check box for the infoprovider.
             Once the infocube data gets loaded or changed , the process chain will kick off the trigger Event data change..Then it will precalculate the query and send a mail to the users.
           Only thing is you have to start the process chain , once you know the timing when infocube get load finsihed , then you can specify the timing in the start variant of the process chain..

Incompatibilities with information broadcasting

Does anyone know if there are any incompatibilities between the versions of BW and Portal for information broadcasting? Are there any features that don't work if you don't have specific versions of BW and the Portal?

Note: In order to use IB to publish results to the Portal, you must have KM (Knowledge Management) installed as a portal component. Without KM, you can only use IB to publish query results via email.

How to sync Outlook (Exchange) with iCloud

Hi there,
I just want to share an approach that made my day.
My objective: I want to have my contacts available on iCloud and all attached Macs.
My issue: The primary source of information is my Exchange account so I have the data available on my iPhone but unfortunately not at home on my Macs.
My painpoint: A clear segragation (private/business) is not an option for me (BTW: This is true for the calendar as well; if I am out of the office for some private reasons it does not make any sense to have such appointments entered in a different calendar because this would not reflect availability in the office).
My approach: Look for a solution that allows copying data within Outlook locally. It seems that any "sync option" one is going to install within Outlook simply adds some new folders but actually there is nothing I would really call "syncing". So I did some research for tools that are capable of syncing Outlook folders within Outlook itself. Finally I found a company called CodeTwo (www.CodeTwo.com) offering an Outlook plug-in named "FolderSync" for free. I installed this tool and configured the tool to sync my (more or less) local contacts folder with my newly created iCloud contacts folder. And it seems to work!
However, there are some drawbacks:
The sync has to be kicked-off manually (via an icon that installs into the ribbon).
There is no option to select either one-way or two-way syncing (it is always two-way which is not really what I want, I'd prefer one-way Exchange->iCloud).
You can configure different folders to be synced (will be done in sequence) but you cannot change this sequence afterwards (I started off with the Exchange -> iCloud sync and wanted to add some backup to another local folder upfront if data gets accidentally destroyed in iCloud).
If the tool runs into a MAPI error (happened several times for some mailing lists or weird contacts) it shows the error and stops (instead of caring on doing whatever can be done; BUT the good news is that if you restart the tool it will continue where it left off so it might take a while but after 5 to 6 times I had all my contacts in iCloud apart those that had issues).
Anyhow you might check this out for calendars, too (I did this for a sample calendar but had really lots of MAPI errors that required a lot of restarts of the sync). Maybe this will work for Hotmail and other connectors supplied by Microsoft, too.

I was trying to use an app (ContactsXL) that sets up groups for group messaging. I could not get it to work with Outlook contacts. In retrospect, there may have been a way to make it work and I was just doing something wrong. However, it started me thinking about how my Outlook is on my company laptop and how, if I ever leave this job, how will I take my contacts with me?
My solution was to sync (or duplicate) all my contacts from Outlook to iCloud, but I could not figure out how to do it. Your suggestion of the Code Two FolderSync plug-in worked nicely. Now all my Outlook contacts also exist in iCloud and the plug-in keeps them up to date when I make changes.
As to my original issue though, using ContactsXL to create text messaging (and/or email) groups. It allows you to set up "smart" groups - like everyone whose Company is BMC or such. But when I created a group like this, now each contact that matches the criteria shows up twice! Assumedly one is from Outlook and the other is from iCloud. Fortunately the iPhone is smart enough to know not to send two text messages (or emails) when a contact is added twice, so no big deal.
But thanks to the OP for the research and suggestions. If I quit my job tomorrow, at least I will take all my contacts with me.

is it possible to secure Outlook Anywhere in Exchange 2013 with certficate based authentication?
I found documentation to configure CBA for OWA and ActiveSync, but not for Outlook Anywhere.
We would like to secure external access to the mailboxes via Outlook by using CBA.

Hmmm. I do believe that Apple has set it up so that tasks sync in reminders in my iOS device, so that would be something to do with Apple, don't you think?

How to confirm access secure with SSID broadcast disabled?

I have set up my wireless router with a unique SSID, SSID broadcast disabled, and with WPA enabled. With my PC turned off, the 'WLAN' light remains lit. Is this a 'feature' of the WRT54G wireless router, or is someone else actually using my wireless router?

the WLAN light will be lit as long as you have the wireless function on the router "enabled" . You may have disable the SSID broadcast....however that does not stop the wireless function on the router.

How to sync outlook 2010 with ovi and n900

I'm not able to put my outlook contacts in ovi and therefor can't put them on my phone.. I have over 350 contacts so I can't just use sim-contacts. also the import contacts from other phone (my htc desire z) does not work.

what do you mean? they are gone from your outlook?
if so, that would be really odd, unless you first synced, then deleted them on your phone then synced again.
i would make a copy of your pst file just in case....
as for the n900, even after you sync contacts to it, your are only seeing the phone number, and not the contact name?
usually that only happens if you have two contacts sharing the same number. is it possible that you have that happening?

All of your contacts should be on your computer.
