How to invoke Oracle Reports from JSP ?

Hi,
I need to invoke Oracle Reports ( paper format ) from my JSP in different formats /PDF, RTF, HTML/ using rwservlet and then send the content to user browser.
Please, someone to give me working example.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
Peter.

Peter,
you can call it from a URL if you need:
/reports/rwservlet?report=...&detype=cache&desformat=pdf...
You can define a file called cgicmd.dat on teh server that takes key-value pairs of the most common parameters under an named entry.
e.g.
ReportsCommon: destype=cache server=myServer ... %*
This way your URL is reduced to a minimum length because you don't have to list all parameters in teh URL.
Second solution:
Run a Reports from a browser URL and specify paramform=yes. This create a HTML based parameter form before executing teh Reports. Have a look at the HTML form code and see to what extend your Reports share same functionality so that you could create this HTML form in your JSP page. You could have a poplist with the name of "desformat" and list HTML, HTMLCSS,PDF,RTF,XML as valid entries so that the user can select the output format.
The Reports documentation shipped with Oracle9iAS (also available online otn.oracle.com/products/reports) has all teh information you need.

how to pass parameters to crystal report, please help.

how to pass parameters to crystal report, please help. This would entirely depend on crystal reports and you might find informations on crystal reports related communities more likely...I for one have seen crystal reports the last time about 12 years ago. And even back then I simply acknowledged it's existence instead of working with it.
Maybe crystal reports can be invoked via a URL call which would make it simple as you'd need simply build an URL and show the report using web.show_document. But that's pure speculation. Also you might not be the first with this requirement, so the solution to your problem might be right under your nose and just a little google search away ;)

  • How to call RDF report from JSP page

    Dear all,
I want to call a RDF report from JSP page. I am creating the JSP page using j developer 10G.
Can anyone help me out in this case. Is there any tag or procedure or any other way by of that i can perform this work.
please help and send the reply on [email protected],[email protected]
    thanks
    Ashok

    Hi Ashok,
You can use rwservlet - nothing really to do with JDeveloper. Once you have report server up and running (hint: read http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/toc.htm), you can call a report like this:
    http://server:port/rwservlet?report=my_report.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=html&p_my_parameter=xxx etcHope this helps,

  • How to Run Oracle Reports from the web.

How can we run Oracle Reports from the web - for example from a portal such as "Gateway"
This is a univeristy that implements Banner - so can we run them from within Banner?

Yes, of course. And for running the reports-server you need an OAS. Maybe here is a good starting point http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/reports.html

  • Regarding tutorial of how to call Oracle Reports from APEX

    Hi,
I'm trying to call Oracle Reports from APEX using this tutorial.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_integrate_oracle_reports.html
But in the step of 'Create the Oracle HTML DB Application', 'OE' doesn't appear in the LOV of Existing Schema, even though the sample schema exists in the schema and they are unlocked. And when I type 'OE' directly without using LOV, and press Next, the message 'Schema is reserved or restricted' appears.
How can I create the workspace based on OE schema?

    Hello Shohei,
I know your following the tutorial, but if you want to call oracle reports from apex it is quite easy though if your working with oracle reports 9i or higher. Just create an html region and put in the source the html code for referencing an url like to_report
Or reference the same url from a button placed on the HTML region
(you can create a package that would create the whole URL and returns it as a string, easier for scalability)
Hope this can help you to (tutorial is good but try and learn from scratch is also good ;-) )

    Dear All,
I am new to APEX. My first job assignment is "calling oracle reports from apex".
Can any one help me on this? Is there any online examples / tutorials from OTN site?
    TIA.

    Hi Joe,
the how-to is still valid for APEX 3.0. Calling an Oracle Report from APEX is still the same, it's basically the URL you build for the report call and Oracle Reports hasn't changed that format.

About the note on metalink. It seems that it is under review.
Here is the basics of the note:
    1. Determine the owner of the workbook. Say UserA.
    2. Open an sqlplus session to the database.
    3. Run the following sql:
    SQL> set heading off
    SQL> set feedback off
    SQL> set echo off
    4. Now spool the result of the following sql to a file.
    SQL> spool c:\exp.bat
    5. Run the sql statement
    NOTE: CHANGE DISCOE_HOME
    SQL>select '<Disco_Home>\discvr4\dis4adm /connect
    EUL_owner_name/passwd@connect_string /export c:\'||rownum||'.eex /workbook "'||
    doc_created_by||'.'||doc_name||'"' from
    SELECT EUL4_DOCUMENTS.DOC_NAME, doc_created_by, NVL(EUL4_EUL_USERS.EU_USERNAME,
    'Document Not Shared') shared_with
    FROM EUL4_ACCESS_PRIVS EUL4_ACCESS_PRIVS, EUL4_DOCUMENTS EUL4_DOCUMENTS,
    EUL4_EUL_USERS EUL4_EUL_USERS
    WHERE ( EUL4_DOCUMENTS.DOC_ID = EUL4_ACCESS_PRIVS.GD_DOC_ID(+) ) AND (
    EUL4_EUL_USERS.EU_ID(+) = EUL4_ACCESS_PRIVS.AP_EU_ID )
    where doc_created_by='UserA'
    where,
Disco_Home is the Location or Discoverer 4 Home.
    4. SQL> spool off
    5. SQL> set feedback on
    6. Now run the batch command file (exp.bat)

  • How to Invoke Oracle report builder installed on a server from a client

    Hi,
I am using rwrun60 command to invoke report builder through a shell script. In this case the report builder is installed on the same machine where the shell script exists.
But now i have shell script which is on different server (say, Server1) and Report builder is on Server-2. How do i handle this?
the current piece of code i am using in the shell script is:
    rwrun60 module=${UNCPATH}/${REPORT_DIR}/purchase.rdf userid=$DBID/$DBPASS@$DB paramform=NO batch=YES destype=File desformat=pdf desname=${SENDFILE}
    Your help will be invaluable...

    Hi Denis,
    I used both rwrun60 & rwcli60 commands as below:
    rwrun60 module=${UNCPATH}/${REPORT_DIR}/abc.rdf userid=$DBID/$DBPASS@$DB EXPRESS_SERVER="server=Server123/domain=xyz/user=myname/password=password123" ERRFILE=${UNCPATH}/${DIR}/error_test.txt paramform=NO batch=YES destype=File desformat=pdf desname=${UNCPATH}/${SENDFILE}
    rwcli60 module=${UNCPATH}/${REPORT_DIR}/abc.rdf userid=$DBID/$DBPASS@$DB EXPRESS_SERVER="server=Server123/domain=xyz/user=myname/password=password123" ERRFILE=${UNCPATH}/${DIR}/error_test.txt paramform=NO batch=YES destype=File desformat=pdf desname=${UNCPATH}/${SENDFILE}
When i run the shell script file on the command prompt, all i get is this error:
    rwrun60: test_outapp 42: not found
42 is the line number of rwcli60 command in the shell script file.
I verified and test_outapp.ksh file is present in the path specified..... even then why this error?...something wrong with the above code?

  • How to Invoke a report from java?

    Hi,
I am a java / web developer with no reports experience.
We wish do the following from a java based web application:
On a web page we have two buttons
    1) Print
    2) Create file.
We want these two buttons to perform the following tasks:
    1) The print button should run a predefined report with a set of parameters and send the output to a printer.
    2) The Create File button should run a predefined report with a set of parameters and send the output to a rtf file on a temp area, which the java app can pick up for further processing.
Both actions should be triggered from the web app without the need for users
to have any knowledge of reports at all.
    We are running ias 9.0.2.3.
Is the use of the plsql SRW package the best way to achieve this kind of functionality
or are there other JAVA APIs or any other ways to solve this scenario?
    Any comments appreciated!
    Regards
    Per A Jorgensen

    Hi Per,
In your submit button's ACTION, the URL that you submit should be like this:
    For printing button:
    http://machine:port/reports/rwservlet?report=...+server=...+userid=...+destype=printer+desformat=...+desname=<printer_name>
    For create file button:
    http://machine:port/reports/rwservlet?report=...+server=...+userid=...+destype=file+desformat=...+desname=<file_name>
Find the report request methods as syntax in the Publishing Reports Manual (Section 13.2)

    Hi Everybody,
I am developing a simple project in JSP with MS Access. I hav some tables and reports for them. I hav a JSP page which gets inputs from user and save it in the table. Its working fine. But my problems are,

  • Launching a Discoverer report from jsp page

    Hi
I have a discoverer workbook created using BI Discoverer (for relational). I want to accept some parameters for this workbook from a jsp page, which will also have a "View report" button. This button when pressed should open up the Discoverer workbook and all the parameters from the jsp should be passed to the workbook.
Is it possible? If yes, any details on it?
We do the same thing successfully to launch Oracle Reports from jsps, we simply build the url in the jsp, and from jsp we submit it to a new window, and it opens up the report. Similar functionality we are looking to launch Discoverer reports.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shalu

You can open the workbook with URL parameters with Discoverer Viewer much like you would Oracle Reports. Setting anything form the username, password, workbook name, worksheet, and parameters. All the information can be found in the following document:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/bi.1012/b13918/urlstart.htm
The specific question your asking is addressed under 13.5.2 Example 2. Let me know if you have any issues

    Thanks in avdance.
    Jitesh ([email protected])

You can use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT with CACHE type, and WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT to view the document on the screen.
In the Forms help you should find examples.
If you have access to Metalink, have a look at Note:207396.1.
