How to lock trash in Yosemite.

I found a great answer but unfortuntly the article attached was "over" my head so I need to have it a bit more step by step. Here is my issue.
I have a computer classroom with about 25 computers including my Macbook pro. I am currently upgrading to Yosemite in my Macbook Pro as the Remote desktop and airdrop and so many other "connectivity" issues are happening. Right now half my lab is running Mavericks and the other is on Yosemite. I am upgrading all to Yosemite to eliminate any issues.
I need to be able to "lock" the trash to eliminate students trashing work. There was a great article here with an explanation on how to do this through the Terminal. I am not this advanced and do not want to try this with out a step by step. Can someone explain this further please?
Again I want to be able to "LOCK" the trash can in the student log in accounts.

old pc backed up on , and tried to throw a lot of it away on my mac, but there are quite a few locked files that will simply not go away , and even if i drag it of the desk top so I dont have to look at it , one copy remains behind, how do I trash these locked windows files , actualy I fell asleep backing the PC up and copied the entire operating system onto this external Hard drive , and I am sur they were never meant to be trashed , so how can I get rid of them?

Hi Jkevin, When you do Apple+I get info on one of these files, does it give you any info about being locked? Have you tried opening the terminal Applications>Utilities and typing sudo rm (and drag the offending file here) and then hit return, enter your password.

Are you saying that Yos/10.10, as a volume located in a mounted external drive won't appear as an option in Snow Leopard's Startup Disc, in Sys Prefs? I've never heard this one before. Hello Neil,
Here's a challenging adjunct to the physical location of trash question above. I moved home folder of my login to a different partition (data only) which all worked fine. Then I trashed the original home folder which was on the Boot OSX partition (just to be tidy as it was not needed any longer) now the MBA says "cannot logon to this user for the time being". So I clearly need to return the original home directory back from trash to my logon folder (eve though it is not really used).
However, how can I access my original logon user directory in trash when I am unable to logon? Logged on to the root directory and using your go to folder solution above I have found the trash for root but I am unable to find the trash for my actual logon (which contains the trashed home directory)!
Any thoughts sir? Thanks for your help.

I like to retrieve a file from the FTP server using Apache Commons Net libraries.
for example if the file size is 20MB. When the file is in the progress of copying or transferring from the FTP server i need to lock the local file which is in our local directory so that no other process will use the same local file which is in the process of copying otherwise partially copied files will be used by another process.
the file should be locked when it was in the progress of copying from the server. I have an automatic process which will access file objects at certain time and try to process the files.
I like to know the simplest and easiest way to lock and unlock a file object locally which is trying to copy a file from the FTP server which is of huge size.
And also i like to know how to lock and unlock a file in general?

HT201250 I just did my first back up with TM and My Passport for Mac, when done adn went into the box ....options...to try and fidn how to delete trash. Then I went back to see if it was erady to do its next scheduled back up and it says there is an error

I just did my initial back up to hard drive (My Passport for Mac 1TB) with TIme Machine on Snow Leopard. I had wanted to omit trash but couldn't find it. All went great and finished in an hour. Then said would restart at 6pm. I went into options about 20 minutes before (when it was done initially) to try and find how to delete trash from being backed up next time.. THis messed things up and now it doesn't recognize the disk and won't let me manually back up...says error. What do I do?

After installing Snow Leopard run Software Update until no additional updates are required. Then open the Mac App Store and download Yosemite.
NOTE: Before you do ANYTHING backup your computer and make sure it is running perfectly before doing ANY updates or upgrades. Also make sure all your applications are up-to-date. You may have some legacy apps that will not run on Yosemite so check before upgrading so you can take the appropriate steps, i.e. upgrade or replacing them.

I will +1 Pixelan's products. They are great, simple, and have about the best support that I know of. When you explore, say Pixelan's SpiceMaster, dig deeply. Things appear rather mundane, on the surface, but there is so very much power lurking, just below the surface. I could almost imagine a 1000 page manual to cover every possible aspect of that program... Every time that I use it, I learn something new, and wonderful.
