How to make a livestream on imovie

how to livestream on imovie

If you mean how do you airplay video that is on iMovie to an AppleTV, you need an Airplay compatible machine:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3761
If you mean, how do you broadcast a video that was made in iMovie on the web, you need Quicktime Broadcaster after converting the DV movie to a compatible stream format with Quicktime Pro or MPEGStreamclip.

  • How to make titles lowercase in iMovie?

    Hi guys,
I have inserted a title in iMovie but I don't know how to make it lowercase. All the letters are all CAPS! How can I change this?
    Thanks!

Not all titles can be edited.   If you click on the title and then on the "T" above the viewer Font controls appear underneath.  Non-changebale properties appear greyed out and you may find that all you type comes out as capitals.  You have probably chosen a title which can't be changed in which case the solution is to try another one which can be modified the way you want.

  • How to make dvd on new iMovie

I just realized that the new iLife does not include iDVD.  Does anyone have any advice on how to make a DVD of a slideshow trailer I made in iMovie.  I guess Apple decided that making DVDs is obsolete.  Unfortunately my 90 yo Grandma does not think so and she would love to see the Birthday slideshow we made for her on a DVD player or laptop.
Alternatively, how do I move the iDVD software from my old iMac (OSX 10.5.8) to my new iMac (with Lion)?  I just tried burning the application onto a DVD (drag the iDVD icon to a disc) and transferring it that way but somehow it didn't bring over the themes and I was not able to use it on my new iMac.

Do you still have the install disk with iDVD7 on it? That would be the only way to install it on your new iMac.
Otherwise you will have to purchase iLife 11 - soon before they stop selling it!

  • How to make a menu in IMovie

I want to make a dvd menu in iMovie because i don't have IDVD and can't find anywhere to download it?
For making DVDs I would recommend iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 both readily available on Amazon or eBay.  Shop for iLife 06 and iLife 09.
You can make menus and chapters with any version of iMovie except the latest one. There's nothing wrong with iMovie 11 either but I prefer iMovie 06.
By using iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 I make DVDs with professional moving menus with very little effort. They look almost as good as Hollywood.

  • How to make a commentary track in iDVD and iMovie 6

Could someone please explain how to make a commentary track using iMovie6 and iDVD? I think I will be able to import the commentary track onto the second sound track in iMovie 6 with no problem. I just can't figure out how to make it an optional track in the final DVD.

Yes, you can put the commentary track on the second sound track in 06. You can also attach a mic and make the commentary as a recording. I will caution that you will need to depress any original sounds associated with the film so that it does not sound like a garbled mess with both tracks competing. I imagine you know how to grab the volume level line in the audio track and nudge it lower or higher?
I also don't see any other option than including two versions of the film on the DVD. Pretty simple fix if it will fit... I would export the plain film first before adding the other audio (or you can simply uncheck one of the audio tracks while exporting to mute it).

I'm trying to make a slideshow in iMovie, but when I upload photos from my Aperture Library into the iMovie Photo Browser, some photos (305 out of 427) are missing. How do I get iMovie to upload all of them?

I have same problem. I could only see a fraction of my project photos if I browse the Aperture lbrary. It is the same problem when I sync the aperture photos to my iPhone or iPad. I still cannot solve it but I know a way to go around it for your iMovie to see the pictures so that you can work on your iMovie.
    Here is the work around:
Export the photos from your album to your hard disk and re-import into your iPhoto. Now you should be able to see those photos that you want to work on in iMovie when you browse your iPhot library.

  • How do I make Smart Quotes in iMovie 11

I'm trying to make a title in iMovie 11 and don't see a way to make "smart" (typographers) quotes. Anyone know how?

You use the keyboard modifiers thusly:
    Open Double-quote: Option + Left Bracket ( [ )
    Close Double-quote: Option + Shift + Left Bracket ( [ )
Check out the smart quotes, in the third line in the screenshot.

  • How to make iMovie 09 recognize a mounted disk image?

I'm trying to store video clips in a disk image (Mac OS Extended - Journaled, single Apple Partition Map). Previously in iMovie 08 all I had to do was mount the image, start iMovie and it would recognize it as an additional drive. Then I could drag events to it and store them there. In 09 this does not work. It sees the image but has the yellow triangle/exclamation point in it. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it recognize the image! I've tried all variations in disk utility to create the image to no avail. Is iMovie 09 looking for a certain file on the disk image to recognize it? Maybe something in the DS_Store file or the .localized? Very frustrating.
    Hoping someone can help. Thanks.

    Try the following:
Mount the disk image so that there is a disk icon on the Desktop, and then launch Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities).  Copy-paste the following line into the Terminal window, and then type a single space. Do not type <Return> yet:
    sudo mdutil -i on
After typing the single space, drag the mounted disk image icon from the Desktop into the Terminal window, click inside the Terminal window, and then type <Return>.  Enter your admin password at the prompt (it will not echo on the screen),  and again type <Return>.
Hopefully that will enable Spotlght indexing on the mounted image. It might take some time to complete depending on the contents.
The result for this for me, three times, was "Indexing disabled."

  • How can I save my original IMovie and then use that same movie, make a few changes and save as something else?

I made an IMovie.  Now I want to keep that original Imovie but make another one using the original IMovie, make changes and save it as another IMovie.  How do I do this.

In iMovie version 10 select your Project in the Libaray and choose Edit>Duplicate Movie to create a copy of your Project. Then make your changes to the copy.
In iMovie verison 9 select your Project and choose File>Duplicate Project.

  • Hello guys! Do you know how to make a video smaller on imovie? Not by size or trim, i mean simply show the video as small as possible in the middle of the screen! Please text back.

Hello guys! Do you know how to make a video smaller on imovie? Not by size or trim, i mean simply show the video as small as possible in the middle of the screen! Please text back.

Go to the Map, Background & Animatic Browser (last button in the centre tool bar alongside the Transition button). Drag the Black background (or any background) to your project. From an Event, drag the video selection directly onto the Black clip in the project. As you drop the video clip, a pop-up menu will appear. Select Picture in Picture.
Your video will appear as a small picture within the black clip. Click on it and reposition it to the centre of the viewer, using the yellow guide lines to get the exact centre position. Resize the Picture in Picture if desired by dragging the corner handles.
NOTE: You may need to extend the duration of the Black clip to match the duration of the video clip. Double-click on the Black clip to open the Inspector, then adjust the duration there.

  • How to make iMovie to read ADVC-110???

I'm struggling how to make iMovie to recognize my Canopus ADVC-110 so I can transfer my VHS tapes to iMovie..
    Pleease help

    Hi s
< When I open up iMovie HD - which video format do I use? >
    • DV
    • Go down under the viewer window and You can select Camera or a pare of siccors.
Camera should have a black triangle and let You select iSight or ADVC. If not it doesn't detect the
    ADVC
    • Most probably it is. 6-pin end is about double the size and is rectangular eccept on short end that
are curved to prevent wrong turning
4-pin end is smaller and has an indent on one of it's longer sides for same reason.
If it is not dectected on either of Your Macs it indicates a problem with either the ADVC or the FW-Cable.
    • The Cable is far more often the problem. Try to borrow another one and test.
HERE Comes my long long list. Use it with care - not all apply to Your situation.
I would print-out and cheque off those that are usably. No guarantee at all.
    Capture/Import problems:
    a) File-Vault is on - turn it off
    b) don’t Daisy chain camcorder - external hard disk - Mac
    (except for some Canon-Cameras)
    c) Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
    d) Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
    e) Bad RAM-chips
    f) drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
    g) FW-wire cable OK?
    h) Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is prerecorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
    i) defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC !
    j) remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    k) Do You have desktop pictures or screen-savers active? Try turning them off.
    l) Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good)
OS X.4.0-2 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
    m) Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first)
QT v.7 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
    n) Have you tried the crazy fix:
Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. (Sue/SDillini)
    o) NEW (from Sue/SDillini):
    Trash the Font Collections Folder.
    These files are found:
    /YourUserName/Library/FontCollections folder.
Drag the folder to the trash and launch iMovie. iMovie will create a new FontCollections folder containing the files it needs when it next opens.
    p) or thrashing the com.apple.imovie.plist file (Rodney Brown2)
    q) - Other programs interfering like Flip4Mac
    r) - Third party or old plug-ins

10% free is recommended + space for Import/Capture + work space (about 4 to
5 times the amount needed for Capture) eg on a 200Gb hard disk You need 20Gb + (one hour tape)
    13Gb + 50Gb = about 80 to 90Gb free space.
◊ Disconnect all other ext devices (FW and USB) exept Camera (and keyboard + mouse) and try again
◊ Rebuild Desktop (Tech-tool or fingersetting during start-up) (System up to 9)

◊ connect camera to power-line, not battery-only....(Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Canons don't allow daisychaining on firewire, make it "only device" on port (Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Cheque the menu on Your Camera so that it communicates with the FW digitally to Your Mac
◊ Date and Time is correct on Your Camera ?

◊ Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is pre-recorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
◊ If You recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a standard 60 min tape with 12-bit sound). Try to change in iMovie pref. to import but not as individual clips. If this doesn’t work You have to make a Camera to Camera copy with the receiving Camera set to SP-mode and 16-bit sound.

    NEWS: Jerry Harris writes:
I know that in a lot of the new Sony HD cameras, iMovie requires that you turn i.Link Conv off. I would look for a similar setting for your camera. This setting has to do with shooting a movie in one format, and using the camera to import as a different format. For instance, if you shoot HD footage and have i.Link conv on - the camera will send DV to the computer etc...
So, case in point: look for a setting on your camera that has to do with the video format and see if that helps.

  • How to make DVD from iMovie

I'd like to make a DVD from iMovie. in the previous version you only had to go to SHARE & selct DVD, the genius's at Apple took that away in the new version

The previous version of iMovie with the ability to "share" to iDVD natively can be found within a folder in Applications:
    Use it.
