How to make a un-edible section edible

I am new and tried a lot but have not found a solution. I
have a template where some parts are un-edible. How can I make a
part of the un-edible section edible? Does anyone have a good
solution.

Open the original template (the .dwt page in the Templates
folder), and
create a new editable region. Save the template, and click
Update when
prompted to update the child pages.
By the way, since you're in Oslo, I presume that English
isn't your
first language. "Edible" means something you can eat. The
word you're
looking for is "editable". The words are similar, but mean
very
different things.

How to make presentation's sections names appear in header?

In header I would like to put sections names (say Aim, Experiment, Results, Conclusion) of my talk. The idea is when I am on "Experiment" section's slides, all these names appear, say horizontally and only "Experiment" is visible while the other headings should blur or fade?.

How to break the presentation in sections or subsections?
How to make Keynote manage relevant section headings i.e. fading out irrelevant headings, colours, fonts
Of course I can write the names manually and for each slide do the necessay changes to the header. but lets face it: for 25+ slides this toturous.

I know this kind of things is rather simple in Beamer.

this is a popular straightforward and quick thing to do, its all set up manually
It took me less than two minutes to create 40 slides as you describe:
duplicate the blank master slide 4 times
create 4 text boxes on one of the duped masters with your titles using gray text, paste these into the 3 other dup master slides
change the text colour to orange of one text box in each of the new masters, so you have a different highlight colour in each master
create as many new slides as you need then add one the 4 master layouts to a selection of the working slides
obviouly use colours and layout to suit your needs
when you need a new slide, just apply one of the master slide layouts

Templates - part of edible section ??

Hi all,
I have a client who is drving me nuts....I made a template
for the pages on their site, then half way through he wanted a List
Menu at almost the top of each page......was only to be certain
pages at first....so I added that to the template.....then he
wanted the List Menu on all the pages........so I put it there ,
one page at a time.
NOW......he wants to change some of the values in the List
Menu.......to something different........and I have to change the
List Menu on over 163 pages.
Is there a way to make part of an edible section of a
template non-edible.......so that when you save the changed
template it doesn't mess up all the other pages.....by pushing
informaiton out of the way or removing it entirely?
Am lost as to what to do.......but I know there has to be a
way to make that one little List Menu in a section of a table
non-edible......and have it change all the other pages........HELP
ME!!!!!!!!

How to make a new section visible in the server published version

I use UPK 12 Client.
When I click "Link a new section" in an existing Module, I can see it in the outline in the left pane in my UPK 12 Developer. When I then check-in all items, click Publish > select c: drive (a test folder) > Publish entire outline, the outcome includes the new section created.
When I do the exact same procedure, but choose to click Publish > server (which is set up for my UPK) > Publish entire outline, the outcome does NOT include the new section created, but everything else yes.
How to make the new section visible in the server published version?

Hi Sille,
Are you publishing over knowledge center? or is it publishing to a network drive? Once you check in the section save the module once and try again. See if it makes any difference.

How to make a Previous/Next Menu

Hi there. This is my first time posting in the Adobe forums so please be patient if I don't do things correctly.
I currently have the Adobe Web Design CS5 package and all the programs that come with it, but my question is specifically about Dreamweaver. My computer is a Macbook with the latest operating system as far as I know.
I've been trying to create a next/previous menu for parts of my own personal website. It's http://www.aidenart.com . If you click on the link to the Concept Art page you should see a bunch of image thumbnails that act as links. Click on any one of those images and you're suppose to see the full image from the thumbnail in a whole new page. On the pages with the full images I would like to include, at the bottom, a jump menu so that a visitor can pick any of the pages that they might want to see (I already know how to do this part), but I would also like to include buttons which allow the visitor to visit the next image in the list and also the previous one in the list. You know, a previous and next menu. I've seen other websites using those kinds of buttons so I know it's possible somehow.
By looking at the source code of some websites and doing a bit of research on my own, I think this can be done using javascript of some kind. Maybe by using an "onClick" behaviour or something. I looked at a few different web help sites, including W3 Schools, and I still haven't found any clear cut explanations on how to make a previous/next menu. If someone could just show me the basic code for making a simple one that actual works then I could probably work from that.
I would prefer it if I didn't have to bother with the dreamweaver extenstions section because most things listed in the exchange are something you have to pay for. And for those of you who think I should just make individual links on each page, please keep in mind that I'll want to add more pages in the future. Most likely a lot of pages. I also want to be able to make previous/next menus for the comics section of my website for when I have more comic pages available, so I really need to know how to do this.
I hope that was enough information for you guys. I can try to provide code if you guys want although I'm not sure how that would help solve my current problem.

Only way to do pagination effectively requires either a database or XML files containing your data. Neither way is really for a beginner based on my experience with both. And based on the size of your library right now, pagination isn't what you really need.
If it is going to be an image gallery you could look into the php Gallery script if you have a mySQL database ( http://gallery.menalto.com/ ). But for simple solutions.
For even smaller solutions you can look to JQuery solutions. They require minimal amounts of coding, mostly just file inclusions.

How to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list?

I have read the long help document on how to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list, and still can't work out what to do.
I have done a 548 page book, using a document for each chapter, and a book file to put them all together in the right order.
I now need to make an index at the back, as the author has many quotes throughout the book at the start of each chapter and section.
I have a list of those people quoted and want to upload this list and get the index feature in InDesign to find all instances of the name occurring in the entire book.
After reading the help document I still cannot work out how to do this.
My questions are:
1. Do you have to use an InDesign document as a source for the list of topics? If so, should the document be added to the book file or outside it?
It seems a bit recursive to have the list of topics in an ID document that is in the book file.
2. Once you have uploaded the topics into the Index feature, how do you get it to look for all instances of that 'topic' througout the entire book? I can't figure that out from the help documents. What do I select? Do I do it from the Index panel? Do I highlight the text in the source document? Not sure how to do this...
3. I need the names to list surname first of the quoted authors in the index. This command seems to be different between various editions of ID. For ID CC 2014.1 is it ctrl+alt+shift+]
4. To make the surname show first, what do I highlight? The topic? and then do ctrl+alt+shift+] and select find all as well? Or do I have to just go through the text and manually do this and ditch the idea of uploading topics first?
I am confused as you can see and any help with this is appreciated.

Anyway, as Justin mentioned, if you have an index on ename, it may be used when doing a comparison predicate statement with the ename value.
What it depends on are several other things: stats, how many rows in the table, use of an index hint, etc.
Rather than questioning the group on this, why not just turn on autotrace and run the query for the different scenarios.
The output will show you if it used the index, number of rows returned, blocks read, etc.

How to make a round border around my picture?

I am trying to design a logo that would fit into the center of a Frisbie, yet I cannot figure out how to make a round border around the picture. I have tried using the eliptical tool, and have also tried using the cookie cutter. The only option I can get to work with the eliptical tool, is the feather, yet I can't change the pixel number for some reason, so it just makes a thin circle around the picture. I thought I could cut and paste it, but the copy and cut options were grayed out and didn't work. When I used the cookie cutter, it made a nice border, and I pasted the picture into it, but, there are four sections that need to be filled in with the background color and the paintbucket didn't work in those spaces (they are the gray and white checked areas. (the picture ends up looking like a rectangle inside of a circle). So I made a new blank file and filled it in with the color of the picture's background, hoping to use the cookie cutter tool around the picture that was now pasted into the new blank file (I chose another color for the round border) and I used the cookie cutter around the picture, but when it was finished, the whole picture ended up being white. All I want to do is to make a border around a picture (a round border). Nothing I have done has worked though. What am I doing wrong, or what are some other options for trying to do this? Thanks.

Here is a simple way to add a border. Select the item, add a blank layer, choose the border size and color and the Outside option:

Note that you don't even need to do the Stroke on a blank layer. You can Stroke directly on the picture layer. However having the blank layer preserves the picture in case you want to start again with different Stroke options.

As a novice, some things I see: The footer has redundant, unecessary images (4 large images-for your services--REDUNDANT) odd? The text part of footer: text seems close, scrunched, have some space between heading and items, DO NOT CENTER TEXT!,
One of the service links bought to page with SAME LARGE image on homepage-change picture, don't use same large image for 2 different pages.
DO NOT use CONTACT US as 1 of 5 links on menubar. Do in another creative way, and/or use footer for contact. I think this looks amateurish (my opinion of course).
If I remember, the homepage and the rest of site, have exact same page structure.--See if you can atleast change the structure of inner pages versus the homepage.

each of your services should be a main menu link on your menubar. I would not put contact us on menubar, and you also had another menubar link with no dropdown( of course ok, but maybe could restructure)--Also your last service (on right of menubar)---why is that one different, and not included with the other services??
Seems like your menubar (items) structure could be reworked.--I would suggest, briefly looking at, to maybe have each service as a primary menu heading/title..YOU MAY NOT NEED A DROPDOWN MENU? Make sure if dropdown it is necessary.

Well working is good...
The code itself is less than spectacular I'm afraid. There is very little
OOness to this. For your future reference when you complete a program
and it consists of nothing but static methods you have done something
incorrectly.
As far as the code you do have goes some refactoring would be nice.
The two main methods you have (proj1 but especially processData) are
too long and unwieldy. processData seems to be a program in an of
itself. It's complicated and hard to follow.
My recommendation to you would be to read this http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/index.html
Especially focus on the sections dealing with explanation of Object
programming. These terms and concepts can certainly be confusing to
new programmers so you may also want to consider finding yourself a
tutor to help you get a better grasp of these concepts.
In short if it works that's good. And it's also good to see that you put the
effort and time in that you have. However if I was grading your project
I'd give it a C- at best because this is a Java program in syntax only.

How to make new RPD online

Hi All,
Please tell me how to make an rpd online.
In my development environment, there is already one RPD online.
Now I am creating another RPD and want to make it online and create a answers report based on my RPD.
Please tell me hw to replce existing online rpd with my newly created rpd.
I would like to know the steps..
Environment details in my development are as below;
I have BI server on separate server machine. The current BI server is pointing to an RPD pointing to oracle EBS datasource
On my own laptop I have BI Admin tool installed. I am creating another rpd based on planning database (Essbase DB). I want to replace current online rpd (pointing to EBS) with my new Rpd (pointing to Essbase DB). and then create a report on Essbase datasource.

Hi Santhosh,
1. Intially, stop your services -> Oracle bi server, Oracle bi presentation server.
2. Open BI Administration tool -> File -> Create new rpd -> give some name say 'test' with no physical, bmm, pres. layers.
3. Niow - Open C:\oraclebi\server\repository ----- Here you can view your rpd (to confirm)
4. Now - Open C:\Oraclebi\server\config ---- Here you can view 3 files
5. Right click on Nqs Config file and open it.
6. You will find a section called [Repository] under which by default it has Star = samplesales.rpd, DEFAULT;
7. Now, Comment the above one by adding '#' symbol in front of it.
8. Within the same section write the following Star=test.rpd,DEFAULT; Save the Nqs File.
9. Now - open C:\oraclebidata\web\catalog and create a new folder 'test' - this is catalog folder where your reports gets stored.
10. Open C:\oraclebidata\web\config --- Open Instanceconfig file.
By Default you can view that catalog path --- pointing to Samplesales
<CatalogPath>C:/OracleBIData/web/catalog/samplesales</CatalogPath>
Change it to: <CatalogPath>C:/OracleBIData/web/catalog/test</CatalogPath>
11. Save instance config file.
12. Restart your services - oracle bi, oracle bi presntation server and now you can also open rpd in online or offline mode (i.e. your rpd 'test')

Does anyone know how to make a custom language pack for thin clients?
All I managed is to edit *.mo and *.qm from EasternLanguagePack and pack it into a xar archive, so I was able to see russian text if I choose for example Japanese. But the problem is that this xar is installed every time a thin client is rebooted. And it is not convenient to choose Japanese (or say French) to get Russian translation.
Any information on creating translations for thin clients would be helpful.
We tried to ask russian HP office (becuase we need russian translation), but they refused to help.

Steps to fill empty cell with '0':-
1. Select intersection cell in cross tab.
2. Go to properties tab.
3. In Text Format section, click on Number Format button.
4. Select Format type is 'Number' and check the Custom check box.
5. Enter 0 in all text boxes(Positive, Negative, Equal to zero, and Undefined).
6. Click ok.
Now you can see 0 in the Emply cells of cross tab.
If you want decimal values, enter 0.00 in Positive box.
