How to make captions disappear?

I have a Flash website that consists of 6 different Scenes. The Home scene and the Videos scene each have a FLV player that I dragged from the library and I called it "vid". So I'm basically using the same player for both scenes. I'm also using the caption component and am assigning the xml via actionscript when the user clicks on a link, so it reloads the player with the correct video and the correct captions. The problem I'm having is that say they are watching the video on the Home scene with captions. If they click on the Contact Us scene, the video player disappears, but the captions stay on the screen by themselves. Looks really odd. I need a way to turn off the captions (called the component "myCaps") so they disappear both when changing scenes and changing movies. On the Videos scene, if you click a different movie's link, the old captions form the last movie stay on screen and just move up a line and the new movie's captions appear below that one. So, how do I get rid of the captions when I don't want them? For each movie link I have:
myCaps.visible = false;
myCaps.source = "soc119_cc.xml";
myCaps.visible = true;
but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

all displayobject instances have a visible property and that caption component inherits from the displayobject class so it should have a visible property.
create a new fla, add your flvplayback component and flvplaybackcaptioning component to the frame 1 keyframe. assign their sources. test. if that works correctly and your flv and captions display, add code to assign the visible property to false. test.
if that fails, zip your fla and captions xml, upload to a file server and post a link to your zipped file.
p.s. there's also a showCaptions property you can use. but if the visible property fails, i would think the showCaptions property will fail.

If you go to settings>music there should be a setting to show all music. Turn that off, and the cloud purchases should disappear. You may need to restart the phone to take efect

Hi, I was transferring a large folder from my computer hard drive to an external when I noticed this folder pop up on the external hard drive. When I click on it, it disappears, but I can't seem to delete it.

How To Make Text Disappear When Mouse is On a Button?

Hello, I'm completely new to Flash and well I need some help. I created a page that has static text in the center.
The page has buttons on side and when I rollover a button text appears, but the problem is that when I rollover a button, the static text in the center is there and I want to hide it as I can't read anything because the texts are overlapped.
How do I make the text in the center disappear/hide when I rollover a button and how do I make it reappear when the the mouse is off the button?
I hope what I am explaining makes sense.

You can assign onRollOver and onRollOut code to the buttons to make the text dispappear, but you'll need to make the text a movieclip with an instance name that you can use to target it to turn it invisible. In the simple example below, the button has an instance name of "btn" and the text movieclip has an instance name of "text_mc"

How to make dock disappear for certain apps?

Is there a way to make my dock disappear, but only when a certain app is open? I work with Photoshop, on my 13" Macbook Pro, and to be honest, I need every tiny bit of screen space I can muster. I'd like it if Photoshop ran full screen, like iTunes for example, but it doesn't run fullscreen AND show the side palletes etc, I don't know why but I wish it did.
Anyway, I was wondering, can I program my dock somehow, so that it will disappear whenever I click inside or open Photoshop, but when I quit or click out of Photoshop, it comes back?
Is there a line of code I need to put into Terminal, or a 3rd party app or something? Anything will do

You can set you dock to automatically go down and come back. and if you still see the sides of your desktop just resize your window by dragging the bottom right corner of your window. I also use Photoshop and I can see it almost full screen by hiding my dock. Hope that helps!

How to make fields disappear after making them appear

I've got a drop-down list with a question like this: Q) how many people did you interview? and you can select a number that corresponds to the number of people you interviewed. I've got the fields appearing without any problems, so if I select 2, I get two text fields to appear asking for the names of the people you interviewed.
My problem is once I select a number, lets say I select 4 by mistake but intended to select 3, I get 4 text fields appearing. However if I go back and select 3, which is the number of fields I wanted, I still have 4 fields showing. How do I get the number of fields I select be the only number of fields to appear?

Will the CSR have Acrobat or just Reader, and what type of computer will the CSR be using (Windows/Mac/mobile OS)? If just Reader (Wind/Mac), this is possible by setting the fields to read-only with JavaScript. The problem is this can't be considered secure, even if using a password as discussed here: Password-protect and hide one form field
With Acrobat you have the ability to flatten certain fields, which makes it a bit more difficult to change the "fields".

In firefox 4 RC, some addons installed suddenly disappear, but checking the profile, some of the missing addons related files are still here, how to make the addons back?

I use firefox 4 form beta 9 to RC (zh) now and there are also firefox 3.6 installed in computer. One day when I open Fx 4 RC, some (actually a lot but not all) of the adoons just disappear. When I check on about:addons page, some addons installed do not appear in the list.
The addons '''REMAINED''' including:
* addons I already used in Fx 3.6 (like webmail notifie , xmarks)
* ''addons only can use in Fx 4'' (like Open Web Apps for Firefox).
The addons '''DISAPPEARED''' including:
* addons I already used in Fx 3.6 (like yoono)
* '' addons installed when using Fx 4'' (like updatescanner, Thumbnail Zoom).
But when I check the profile(by Help > Troubleshooting Information>Open Containing Folder) , some (not sure is it all) of the missing addons related files are still here [lucky], so any one know how to make the missing addons back?
Some more details:
* This happened when i use RC for already a few days and keep on even i restart Fx and windows.
* The bookmarks, history, search engine and even themes and icon setting are still here. [ I only sync bookmarks but not history for both xmarks and firefox sync.]
* This addons are really '''disappeared''' but not disable only!
* This number of addons missed, as i remember, at least 30, should be more than that number bacause some of them are installed but in disable mode.
* I try to install back one of the addons - Stylish, the installed code are still here.
* It is nearly an impossible mission to install every missing addons again, as it really kill my time.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar to do a compatibility check.

Hint captions - how to make them work

Hello all,
Can someone shed light how to make hint captions work? I created a training progect with all default options - it generates all four caption: Text, success, failure and hint.
The problem is that hint captions are not shown when hoovering over the clickbox area... in fact they never show up whatever i do.
Am I missing something obvious here?

Now do one more thing: Select the click box object that you can see in this example and from the Modify menu item, click Arrange > Bring to Front. Then republish and test.
This is a bit of a long shot, but what I'd checking for here is that there is a known issue in Cp 5x where sometimes an object is shown as being at the top level layer in the timeline when in fact it may be several layers deep. So your click box might actually be underneath another object and thereby NOT seeing the mouseover to trigger the Hint caption.

Try a hard reset first. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
The next step would be to restore the iPod to factory setting in iTunes.
And if still no luck, it's likely a hardware issue/malfunction with the screen.

Hi, I am very new at this. I'd like to know how to make the purple header that appears when a form has been distributed go away. This section says "Please fill out the following form. When finished, click Submit Form to return the completed form. Our company has been having problems when people submit these automatically, so we'd like to have them save them as PDFs and submit them as an attachment on an email. We don't want there to be any confusion about this, but I know that the forms have to be distributed so they can fill them out, and this purple header appears after I distribute. What do you suggest?

You need to be a little more specific as to what is going on with the form. What is the exact issue you are having with the form when it is sent back? If your form is designer form that is fillable then the header will always be there. It says "Please fill out the following form. If you are a form author, choose DistributeForm in the Forms menu to send it to your recipients."
If you would like I could take a look at the form to see what you are experiencing. I have been designing forms for a major insurance company for four years and have come across many issues. In ordder to troubleshoot these issues you have to explain exactly what is happening to get at the root cause. It may something as simple as not having the submit button on the form or a little script written that saves the form as a save as.
Not knowing the exact issue people are not going to be able to give you a fix. It is like taking your car to the mechanic and saying it doesn't work.

Hi, I've tried a reset all, and restored from another backup(iCloud) and it stopped asking my friend's Apple ID(its been two days i've restored, and my didn't complain yet).
next, i've already tried all the steps you said.
my dad uses his gmail account for apple devices(same id for his iPad too), and i already checked "My Phone" number is set to my dad's phone number.
i asked my dad to turn off iMessage and Facetime, removed the sim, reset network settings and when he inserted the sim back, it shows his number, when he turns on the iMessage and logs in using his email, it shows my phone number..!
i went to view account, and it redirected to appleid.apple.com and i can see his phone number in the account.
checked the location, set to India, time zone and everything looks fine.
But the Apple ID is remembering my number instead of registering his number..!
BTW, can you elaborate your reply for my 3rd Question.
I've created a contact record with his name, phone number(with country code) and email addresses.
Now what is the next step..?

I'm planning to remove sim in my phone, restore it to new device, setup the required softwares etc, take an iCloud back-up and ask him to restore from that backup. Since, the Apple ID doesn't know any phone number, when he inserts sim and turns on iMessage it should register the new number..!

Digital Signature Text is too big, how to make it take up less room?

I added a digital signature to a PDF and part of it is a real handwritten signature. The digital signature text was also added but it is taking up too much room on the signature line. I would like to make the real signature large and the text part of the digital signature smaller. I cannot seem to find oout how to make this happen. Is it possible? I've got tiger in ok, running fine - bought family pack and have done 3 installs without problem, so that's the good news ....
I did a major reshuffle and toss-out of files before I installed - bought 80gb mobile external hard drive - and did install with 5+gb free, so after it had about 3gb free, then all of a sudden I went down to less than 1gb
I've been in a hunt for more files to throw out (a nice find were the old ipod updaters that were eating 500mb) ....
If I want to throw out most of the language files (for instance) ... where are they ? (I did search for danois and found nothing, so .... buried ?)
any other suggestions for things to throw away .... I've pretty much eliminated 90% of all things classic, for instance ....
and - do you have ideas for why space seems to disappear so fast .... I'm not doing anything special, but wham, 2gb flies away to ???

I know fireworks is not the best place to make a web page. I have to use this because it is a mockup for school. i have the tabs up and each state made in each tab i have the appropriate tab merging with the content area. I also have 3 other states I have created for each tab. first problem i am having is that when I click on state 2,3 and 4 I my content disappears including my master page and all of my other content I don't know how to make it show like it does in state 1. my second problem is I don't want to slice the hotspots to make the tabs. I just want to make the hotspots navigate to each state is that at all possible? or do I just have to slice it? the reason I don't want to slice is because the instructor does not like it when we slice content don't ask me why.
