How to make my mac compatible w/ cs5

i just upgraded my mac os x to snowleopard (version 10.6.3), thinking that'd allow me to use CS5 design standard, but it still doesn't meet system requirements for indesign. can i upgrade w/out having to buy a new computer and if so, what needs upgrading? here's the specs on my computer and then cs5's requirements:
basics:
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
graphics:
Intel GMA 950:
Chipset Model: GMA 950
Type: GPU
Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Total): 64 MB of Shared System Memory
Vendor: Intel (0x8086)
Device ID: 0x27a2
Revision ID: 0x0003
Displays:
Color LCD:
Resolution: 1280 x 800
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
*here's what CS5 design standard needs:*
Multicore Intel processor
Mac OS X v10.5.7 or v10.6
1GB of RAM or more recommended
8.2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash-based storage devices)
1024x768 display (1280x800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit color, and 256MB of VRAM
Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0
DVD-ROM drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs
QuickTime 7.6.2 software required for multimedia features
Adobe Flash Player 10 software required to export SWF files
Broadband Internet connection required for online services*
as far as i can tell what i'm missing is the 256MB VRAM and OpenGL graphics card. is this the case? what can i do about it? thanks!

Just got the Student Version of Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection (top of the line) on this past Friday, June 11.
After a nearly 2 hour install of the Suite, many of the apps crashed or would not open, and a few worked.
Naturally, unlike Apple, there was tech support on weekends.
Starting Monday morning, I contacted Adobe tech support,( in India ) only to spend the next 4 days and nearly 12 hours on the phone ****.
Well, as many of you can well imagine, the tech support, in India, was like a Russell Peter's horror comedy, of being handed off to countless technicians, who would ask me the same questions over and over.
" I am sorry sir, Adobe will resolve your issue very soon and I apologize for any inconvenience you may be having at this time. Please hold for just one moment sir...."
One Adobe tech told me to think logically, it is very simple, and launched a 15 minute allegory about a family of 6 children, who wanted to play baseball, but each one had a different item, ball, cap, bat, knickers, etc...and then the father shows up at the baseball game, and then the grandfather shows up to the baseball game..." its very logical sir."
Fill in the accent...
Five re-installs later, the same krap, so that's when I decided to call Apple albeit do not support Adobe issues, made their best effort to help me.
Finally, I booked a Genius Bar appointment. The Genius created a guest user name, which allowed the entire Suite to work without any issues....but, I things were just the same at my normal user account, so that was interesting...
So the next day I went to the Adobe offices here in San Francisco seeking information, and they would not even let me talk to one member of the staff, if even to find a local contractor I could hire to resolve my issues...what a bunch of creeps, and not even the employees standing outside on coffee break cared, let alone had any advice...and I am sure they are all making 5 and 6 figure incomes...
So again, I booked another Genius Bar appointment ( with their permission and blessings) and after 3 hours of tweaking my computer, they managed to enable 16 of the 20 apps to work on my user account side.
They even stayed after hours to help me, while the cleaning crew began their work.
One Genius was doing some serious, serious digging and adjustments, amazing just to watch him.
So- as far as I understand, there were a few issues as such:
1. Permissions
2. p-list
3. That I had migrated my older G4 to my new iMac.
4.Other stuff as well, but I cannot remember or understand.
For me, at this juncture, one would think that a $3000 software designed specifically for Mac, would install flawlessly, and if not, would point to on line links and patches, but NO!
So again, Apple saves the day.
No wonder any one who is off sound mind chooses Apple.
Guess I will say it loud and clear: "I LOVE APPLE, AND APPLE LOVES ME !"
THANK YOU APPLE!
Feel free to pass this letter along to other frustrated persons, and that it was the 1 Stockton Apple store here in San Francisco. Thanks all.

  • If I have to format an external hard drive to make it Mac compatible, will it delete all the content in the external hard drive?

If I have to format an external hard drive to make it Mac compatible, will it delete all the content in the external hard drive?

As others have said, the answer to your question is a big YES.  Formatting a drive will delete everything!
To keep your data, yet reformat the drive for optimal Mac compatibility, you will need to:
    1) copy your files to a different hard drive (I would recommend two different locations if you value your data)
    2) repartition/format the external drive
    3) then copy the files back to the external.
You haven't given details but if you need the external to ONLY be compatible with the Mac (and no longer care if if can be read by Windows), then you will want to partition the drive using the GUID partition scheme, and format as the (HFS+) "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" filesystem.  You can do so using the built-in "Disk Utility" application on your Mac (in the Applications/Utilities directory).  Here are instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph5845
If you need the drive to be compatible with both Mac and Windows computers then please post that so someone can recommend a solution for your specific needs.

  • How to make a template in Photoshop CS5?

How to make a template in Photoshop CS5?

That would probably depend on what you mean exactly.
A template for what, which structure, …?

  • How to make this in Adobe Photoshop CS5? PLEASE Help!

Hey guys, i reallllllllly  want to know how to make this image in adobe photoshop.... the cone around the forecast track. Can you guys please show me how to do this? Id greatly appreciate it!

There's a lot implied here, but you're not going to get around having to do the following in general:
Use an unmarked map as a background.
Draw shapes on layer(s) above the background and make them partially transparent.
Obviously the key is to draw shapes that express the "cone of uncertainty" exactly as you want it to look, and with a minimum of fuss.
I'd suggest drawing shapes with Path tools, then filling the shapes, applying a stroke (for the edge border), and using masking to hide parts you don't want to show (or which overlap with the other parts you're drawing).
Are you needing to do this over and over or just once?

  • How can I make my Mac compatible with windows?

NOT very computer literate so be clear please. I am just starting out as a Medical Transcriptionist and most companies will require MS Word and Windows XP operating systems. How on my Mac OSX 10.4 can I make it work?
Is there some software I can just download?
What do you know about "Fetch"? Someone was saying I could use that? HELP!
Is there a good place in the Apple site for me to get a little more computer know how or a good book someone could recommend? Thanks for listening to the newbie

You can buy Microsoft Office for Mac, and then you'll have Word.
You could use BootCamp, Parallels or Fusion to install Windows if you absolutely need it, but just having Microsoft Office will be enough for most people.
Fetch is just an FTP client. It's for transferring files between computers.
Here's a couple of sites to check out for basic information:

  • How to make a mac os x snow leopard usb recovery back up?

I bought a new hard drive so i need a mac os to use it. How do I make a recovery disk for 10.6 so i can install 10.6? All that i have to use is a friends macbook with it installed, and a 16gb flashdrive, also i have the recover disk assitant from apple. is that all i need to install it on my new hard drive?

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
The Recovery Disk Assistant is for Lion and later. It doesn't work with Snow Leopard. If you don't have a Snow Leopard installer DVD or a Snow Leopard bootable flash drive installer, then you cannot install Snow Leopard until you get one or the other:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

  • How to make this image compatible as a laser cut file by changing stroke colour?

My final aim with this image is to make it compatible as a laser cut raster engrave design, so the laser cutter will fill the black areas or white (either would be fine). If this is not possible then even as a laser cut outline would be suitable
This is how the image will look when in Illustrator. however when I use the preview screen (ctrl+y) it creates an outline. This is how the laser cutter will read the image which is why it is very important the preview image is is what i would expect the final outcome to be.
As a raster the laser cutter requires the stroke line to be blue r:0 g:0 B:255. Currently I cannot edit the colour, yet I can change the stroke weight. Also how I would I fill the engraved areas as a stroke? At the moment when I try converting the stroke to blue it turns grey.
I am also unsure as to how I would make this feasible even to be cut out when I cannot change the stroke colour to red. This is required for laser cut designs as the laser cutter reads red lines to be cut.
I can usually change stroke colours easily so I assume this is due to the fact that I have brought this file through from Photoshop so it is not yet fullu editable. I have used the live trace and live paint function in illustrator so far.
    Any help would be appreciated

You need to expand the artwork and convert the strokes to genuine outlines to in turn be able to apply anotehr thin stroke to them again...

  • How do I download mac ver upgrade CS5.5 when I only have windows ver?

I currently have InDesign CS5 on my Windows pc. I have paid for a Mac CS5.5 upgrade version and want to download it on my new Power Mac and remove forever the windows version on the other computer. I know the mac download is going to look for an installed CS5 which there is not. I think there is some way I get the chance to input the serial # manually but don't know for sure. I do not have a CD mac version, only the windows. If it came with both, I honestly don't know where the disk is. All my software is registered and shows up in My Account and I know I can legally swap platforms once, just don't know the procedure here and was hoping not to have to spend hours on the phone with Adobe.
    Thanks.

I didn't have to return anything because it was a download from Adobe store. For those of you who ever get in this situation, it is an easy fix made more difficult by having to spend close to an hour, or more, with customer service. If you have a product on a mac or pc and want to download a version onto an alternate platform -- mac to pc or pc to mac -- they call it "swapping platforms" and they allow you to do this once without charge. When you start the installation you will get to a point where it says you don't have a recognized version on your computer. At that point, you have to be online with customer service because they will give you the instructions and codes to enter to bypass that and finish the installation. You will also have to fill out a form online while you are doing all this that states you will no longer use the previously installed version.
This swap works for simply transferring the same version from one platform to another, or if you are upgrading at the time you are switching back to a MAC -- Yayyyy!

  • How to make a DVD compatible with USA televisions

I sent a DVD to a friend in USA made with iDVD in Spain . He can not see on the tv , what can we do ?

    Hi
One can do this in better or worse ways.
Fastest and best (as I see it) is to use VLC on a Mac or PC. As previously said.
Bad way is to make a PAL movie and drop this into a NTSC iDVD project.
    - YES iDVD will convert it into NTSC - BUT the resulting DVD will play very bad and jumpy !
    - I do my projects (most oftennin PAL) and then Export them as full quality QuickTime.mov
    - Then I use JES_Deinterlacer (free on Internet) to convert from 25fps to 29.97fps
    - This movie I drop into a NTSC iDVD project. AND the resulting DVDs plays very well in USA !
    I use Verbatim DVD-R
I burn at slowest possibly speed - to get as few burn errors possibly - YES IT DO MATTERS !

  • How to make new Mac Pro with iWeb 08 see my existing .mac site.

About a year ago I bought a new Mac Pro. Before that I had a G4 that I had used with an older version of iWeb to create a basic website for my business. I figured with the new Mac when I opened iWeb 08 it would see my .mac settings in System prefs and automatically open it but it does not. It will only let me creat a new site, there is no way to redirect it to an existing site.
Anyone know how I do this or what I am doing wrong?

  • How to make a Mac use dedicated GPU in Windows

So I have this problem: when I launch games through Boot Camp on my late 2013 15 rmbp, I occasionally run into lags and frame drops in various games. The thing is, sometimes the same games run perfectly smooth with a decent frame rate, and sometimes the lags are so bad that it's almost impossible to play.
This makes me think that my Macbook is using the integrated Iris Pro gpu instead of dedicated 750m. So my question is, how can I force Windows to use dedicated graphics in games? In NVidia control panel, there's no option like Dynamic swithing.
P.S. I just reinstalled Boot Camp drivers using the WININSTALL drive, and checked NVidia website for updates

Furthermore, Boot Camp only uses the dedicated GPU because of problems related to GPU switching, so this is not the problem. Anyway, you can check which GPU Windows is using > http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/video-cards-faq#1TC=windows-7
Have you checked if there is any app open while you are playing games and they do not run as smooth as you want to?
