How to monitor SERVER performance
hello,
how to monitor the performance of the server, whether it is hit ratio is high or not
can u please send the query
regards
Database Performance Monitoring is a little more complicate than running a query to get ratio. And different version of Oracle has different tools and utilities to help you.
Strongly recommend you read Oracle® Database Performance Tuning Guide

How to monitor the performance of EBS iAS?
Hello All,
I am looking for your advise on how to monitor the performance of EBS (11i/R12) iAS
How to measure iAS worload during a certain period?
How to know the number of iAS hits/requests?
How to the iAS response time?
Regards,
TareqThanks EBSDBA and Helios for your time.
Are there any scripts/reporting tool that helps me monitor iAS performance other than OEM for EBS?
Note:370583.1 is very helpful in monitoring JDBC connections. Are there any similar Notes/scripts that can answer my questions:
How to measure iAS workload during a certain period?
How to know the number of iAS hits/requests?
How to the iAS response time?

How to monitor worst performing sql statements
Hi,
I am new to oracle 9i release 2. I come from the Windows world, where we used sql server.
When we performanced tested our product, we always monitor the worst performaning sql statement using the sql profiler. At the end of a 24 hour test, the profiler will list the sql statement with the longest execution time. What is the equivalent Oracle 9i tools that will allow me to monitor the worst performaning sql during a test that lasts between 10 to 24 hours?
Thanks,
Paul0alBesides statspack and OEM you have a few other options.
If an SQL statement had been identified as performing poorly or a job that you can extract the SQL from then you have the option of explaining all the SQL statements and just reviewing the plans for reasonableness. You can also trace actual execution of the task or individual statemnts (alter session set sql_trace = true for basic 10046 event).
When the SQL has not been identified in advance you can query the shared pool SQL areas for SQL statements that have relatively high physical, logical, or combined IO counts. Then you can perform tuning activities for these statements.

How to improve the performance of Standard Extractors
Hi All,
Can you please let me know how to monitor the performance of Standard Extractors. For one of the extractor which have 350K records in source, it is taking 4hrs to load to BI.
I want to know which part of the program is taking more time.
Thanks in Advance
RKNo, that exception is thrown when the underlying
socket (tcp/ip) implementation cannot reserve buffer
space for new sockets afaik. I get it on windows
machines when the concurrent connection load reaches
17-18k connections. I do believe it's configurable
though. And what happens if your max server load is 7-8 connections an hour and you never close the connections? -
Does anybody know
(1) Any benchmarks available for report server performance
(2) How is report server performance during formatting. we
are generating reports through report server in.pdf file.
(3) Where can I find Report server sizing docuement
RegardsThe reports team is working on this set of documentations.
The documentation will include benchmarks and tuning guide for the server.
Once they are ready for the 9i reports server, the team will publish it on OTN. -
Lync 2013 Monitoring Server - Database reporting
Hi there,
Im a business intelligence professional rather than a Lync professional so excuse me if my question may show niavete or a clear lack of experience, both would probably be correct.
The basic question is, how does Lync record the relationship between a call being received and the call that is transferred.
Effectively I am looking to see how the monitoring server applies a unique record to a call. This looks like the SessionIdTime field. I also deduce that the 'ReplacesDialogueId' field is used to record when a call effectively replaces another one, and I
have formed a self join on the SessionDetailsView to track a calls progress.
Im struggling though when this relationship is not there. So for example, when a call comes in and is answered by a receptionist, we have the initial call entering the queue, with the call being answered by Reception having a replacedialogId that replaces
the call coming into the queue. Lets say that the receptionist then calls a director to see if they are available, and then transfers the call. There is a relationship between the call being made to the director, and the caller speaking to the director with
the dialogId and replacedialogid fields, though there is no relationship between the receptionist taking the call, and the receptionist calling the director and putting the call through.
Again, please forgive my noobie questions. In summary, how does Lync record the relationship between a call being received and a transferred call. They are sparse, many of us have written custom reports but I forget what I've done as soon as I've done it. The Lync 2013 CDR Database Schema is available here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398570.aspx
Typically what I do is just dig in and make test case calls, export the query results to something easy to work with like Excel and reverse engineer what I need for my reports. Watch the CorrelationID and anything else you can line up.
I'm not aware of any great guides that walk you though this unfortunately.

How to increase my server performance ?
hi experts,
my environment is 4.7E,SQL,Windows 2003 Server with 150 users.
ibm xseries 346 with 6 gb ram
min response time is 1000 (m.sec) to 1500 per 140 logon users.
how can i decrease this response time ?
Please give me your valuable suggestions.
Gayatry.Hello Gayatri,
The average response time consists of:
Wait time
Database request time
Roll time
Load time
Enqueue time
Processing time is:
ABAP processing time (part of total CPU time)
Work process waiting for CPU
Waiting for I/O
IN order to monitor the performance of the system and identifying the bottleneck points, use Workload Monitor transaction code ST03. Select the required timeframe and by default the Workload Overview view is displayed. In the Administrators Mode the default time frame of the workload analysis is the current day. However, change to Expert Mode. Choose under Detailed Analysis -> Last minutes load
During the workload exercise, restrict the time period to the time when the performance is observed to be bad. Under Analysis views, you can access, for example:
Workload overview - Workload statistics according to work process type
Transaction Profile - Workload statistics according to transaction.
Time Profile - Workload statistics according to hour
In the Workload Monitor(ST03) selecting Transaction Profile enables you to find out:
The most-used transactions. Tuning these transactions results in the largest improvements in overall performance.
The average response times for typical R/3 transactions.
In the Workload Monitor, the following values normally indicate good performance:
Wait time < 10% response time
Average roll-in time < 20 ms
Average roll wait time < 200 ms
Average load (and generation) time < 10 % of response time (<50 ms)
Average database request time < 40 % of (response time - wait time)
Average CPU time < 40 % of (response time - wait time)
Average CPU time should be close to processing time
Average response time - depends on your requirements there is no general rule
If you observe high response time for these individual components :
Large Roll-wait time: Communication problem with GUI or external system
Large load time: Program buffer, CUA buffer, or Screen buffer too small
Large database request times: CPU or memory bottleneck on database server, network problems, expensive SQL statements, database locks, missing indexes, missing statistics, small buffers
Large CPU times: Expensive ABAP processing, for example, processing large tables, frequent accessing of R/3 buffers
Processing time much larger than CPU time: CPU bottlenecks, network problems, communication problems.
Hope this helps in tuning your system

How to monitor a VIP's performance?
Could I get any advice regards how to get the statistics of a VIP performed and how to monitor it?
Any comments will be appreciation.
Thanks in advance.Hi Gilles,
How much is too much? :-)
We are monitoring parameters like flows/second and active local connections but I have been looking at parameters telling us how far we can go before seeing performance decrease.
We are terminating SSL on the CSS and if about 800 SSL sessions per seconds per SSL module is the limit, what would be a good parameter to watch?
I couldn't find anything in the MIBS that tell us how many SSL sessions/sec are served.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

How to Show Real CPU load, and not just Average Load on Server Performance or CPU metrics
Hi There,
we are currently using application insights for one of our customers, and they have raised the question with me, regarding CPU spikes. Is there anyway to show these when viewing the server performance or within the CPU metrics?
The reason for the question is that for our particular application the average CPU load is 4%, however when viewing task manager real time, I can see spikes go anywhere from 20-60% for a second or two.
Also do you know if the ability to grant user access to the likes of our customers so they can see the results so I don't have to send screen shots etc. on request.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
AntonyHere is a good blog that shows how can you see CPU metric with Application Insights.

How to Improve the Performance of SQL Server and/or the hardware it resides on?
There's a particular stored procedure I call from my ASP.NET 4.0 Web Forms app that generates the data for a report. Using SQL Server Management Studio, I did some benchmarking today and found some interesting results:
FYI SQL Server Express 2014 and the same DB reside on both computers involved with the test:
My laptop is a 3 year old i7 computer with 8GB of RAM. It's fine but one would no longer consider it a "speed demon" compared to what's available today. The query consistently took 30 - 33 seconds.
My client's server has an Intel Xeon 5670 Processor and 12GB of RAM. That seems like pretty good specs. However, the query consistently took between 120 - 135 seconds to complete ... about 4 times what my laptop did!
I was very surprised by how slow the server was. Considering that it's also set to host IIS to run my web app, this is a major concern for me.
If you were in my shoes, what would be the top 3 - 5 things you'd recommend looking at on the server and/or SQL Server to try to boost its performance?
RobertWhat else runs on the server besides IIS and SQL ? Is it used for other things except the database and IIS ?
Is IIS causing a lot of I/O or CPU usage ?
Is there a max limit set for memory usage on SQL Server ? There SHOULD be and since you're using IIS too you need to keep more memory free for that too.
How is the memory pressure (check PLE counter) and post results.
SELECT [cntr_value] FROM sys.dm_os_performance_counters WHERE [object_name] LIKE '%Buffer Manager%' AND [counter_name] = 'Page life expectancy'
Check the error log and the event viewer maybe something bad there.
Check the indexes for fragmenation, see if the statistics are up to date (and enable trace flag 2371 if you have large tables > 1 million rows)
Is there an antivirus present on the server ? Do you have SQL processes/services/directories as exceptions ?
There are lot of unknowns, you should run at least profiler and post results to see what goes on while you're having slow responses.

How to monitor all SAP Server through solution Manager?
Dear Friends,
How to monitor all SAP Server through solution Manager?
Is it possible if yes then how? Please forward configuration and transaction also.
Please help me as early as possible..
Thanks,
Regards,
SachinHi sachin,
You can monitor your sattilite systems through solution manager.
If you want to monitor systems in solution manager means you need to configure those systems in solution manager.
Before including the systems in solution manager we need to create a solution using tcode <b>DSWP</b>.
After that you can include the systems using tcode <b>SMSY</b>.
For configuring the systems we have lot of phases its very difficult to explain here.
Try to login to<b> service.sap.com</b> and <b>help.sap.com</b> find the helpfull guides.
i hope it will help you.
any issues post it.

How to monitor oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server?
Hi Experts
How to monitor the Oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server (other than SQL Developer tool), which procedure or query is taking more time with Java application.Recently i found this tool- myorasql on the net to monitor the performence of database, easy to setup and check the performence. i never tested it but seems impresive. It is free and i think it would be use ful to you.
