How to open a VI in older version 6 while is being created by 8.6

Hello,
I have some VIs that are being created by version 6.1 and latter when I have version 8.6 I opened these VIs with this version, now when I wanted to open these VIs in other machine which has version 6.1 I couldn't open them.
please any help

Do you have LV versions 6.1 and 8.6 on the same PC? Are you trying to open the same VI simultaneously in both versions? Or did you open up an old VI in 8.6 then happen to save the file?
If you open up and old VI, it will recompile into the newer version. If you are trying to simultaneously open it in LV 6.1, you would probably have either file sharing conflicts, or conflicts of trying to have a VI of the same name in memory at the same time.
If you happened to save the file after you opened it up in 8.6, you won't be able to open it in LV 6.1 because the file version is too new. You will either have to find a backup version of that VI somewhere (hopefully you did make copies of your VI's for safekeeping?) or you will have resave it back to 6.1 which would be a multiple step process 8.6 to 8.0 to 7.1 to 7.0 to 6.1.

You can use these steps to open your Pages documents with the previous version:
Permanently change the document’s app
Select the document and choose File > Get Info.
In the Info window, click the triangle next to “Open with” to expand the section.
Choose an app from the pop-up menu, or choose Other to locate a different app.
If you want to use that app to open all documents of the same type as the current document and created by the same app, click Change All.
Temporarily change the document’s app
You can open a document in a different app without changing the app that normally opens it. Use either of these methods:
Control-click the document, choose Open With, and then choose the app you want to use.
Drag the document to the app’s icon in the Dock or in the Finder.

How to open iWeb09 pages on earlier versions

iWeb is a great app, but some aspects of it make it very difficult for schools. A teacher has made a stack of webpages for an intranet in iWeb 09 without thinking about the fact not all teachers have iWeb 09 and the classroom G4 iBooks cannot run iWeb09. We can't open her file with older versions and we can't upgrade all computers to run iWeb 09. Is there a solution without rewriting all the webpages in an earlier version? Even that won't be a real solution as if one person opens a file in a later version and saves, we are back to square one. Any thoughts or ideas?

Missed a few points here.
Point 1) I didn't set this up. I know exactly what you mean from teaching iWeb since its inception. This was already undertaken and we are just trying to resolve it without a massive amount of rework. The teacher is very gutted after getting excited and doing all this work without realizing the implications of what she was doing. She hadn't talked to me about it - I just work occasionally in the school, and she had a brand new computer with iLife 09 which she was keen to get into.
Point 2) No mention of students. This is just teacher intranet stuff about their room and it will only be an account on the teacher machine.
The webpages the children create are already published to a folder and linked to a Dreamweaver webpage using exactly the same set up as you describe. I don't find multiple iWeb sites hard to manage if you know how and where iWeb stores its domain. I set up multiple folders in the Application Support / iWeb folder and make links to the Domains from the Dock. Kids (and they are really good kids) don't have any trouble with this and know the importance of being careful opening the correct Domains.
I'll come back to my original request, is there anyway we can open iWeb 09 (version3) domains with an earlier version or is the only solution a complete rewrite.

I have removed all iphoto files and avatars as one person has suggested. I am suppose to reinstall iPhoto using the discs that came with the computer.
I am not sure what to do with any options that might be provided. Any help will be appreciated.

How to open project from an earlier version (RH x3) using RoboHelp 6.

Hello everyone, I need your help. I have recently upgraded
from RH x3 to RH V6. I have just completed the installation of RH6
after spending long time with Adobe customer support as it took
them long time to figure out how to provide me the unlocking key to
install RH v6.
BTW I have only installed RoboHelp 6 by itself. I did not
install their Source Control because we already have Visual Source
Safe which we have been using in our company.
Also, since I had Adobe Reader 8 installed on my PC, I did
not install Acrobat Element 7 either. As I suppose if Acrobat 7 or
higher is installed RH v6 was not going to install Acrobat Element
7.
Well, now after I have installed RH v6, my first step is to
find out how to open project from an earlier version (RH x3) using
RoboHelp 6.
RH x3 is installed on my old PC and I am working on my new PC
where I have installed RH V6.
Sorry, for providing you too many details, the purpose is

Thank you so much for the response. Actually, after I posted
the question on Forum we had lost internet connection for some time
and I just went ahead and tried it by myself.
This is what I did – since we use MS Visual Source
Safe, my all files were in the working folder of VSS in my c drive.
I just clicked the Open tab/More Files in RoboHelp Starter and
located the RoboHelp HTML Project File. It opened without any
problem. Everything looks alright.
Is there anything specific I should be checking to make sure
if it is working fine in this version of RH. Because I did not
create this project, somebody else did and I have never used this
tool before this is the first time I will be using.
I found your site pretty helpful though and it did have some
information about Source Safe. I still have one question related to
Visual Source Safe that Is RoboHelp v6 linked to VSS automatically
and check the files out from it automatically whenever a project is
opened or we have to manually set the link between the RH6 &
VSS.
In RH x3 whenever I would open a project it would prompt a
message that in order to open this project the following files need
to be writable, would you like to make them writable, selecting
that option would checkout all the files from the VSS to make them
writable. However, in RH V6 I opened an existing project and it
opened without checking out the project files from VSS. Do you have
any idea what’s happening?
Ps: Do you recommend any book on RH 6 for starters or any
other recommendation?

How do I open movies made with older versions of iMovie?

I have newer iMac with iMovie 10.0.02 and would like to open movies created with an older version of iMovie. I was informed by the people at the Apple Store this could be done. Does anyone know how? In the end I would like to create high def copies that can be viewed on a Mac laptop.

That depends up-on from what old iMovie version.
- iMovie 1 to HD6 - is one program and it's evolution - Will Not be possibly to open with any other program.
- iMovie'08 v.7 to iMovie'13 v.10.0.x - is a compleatly other product (wrongly named as iMovie in my opinion) - can open older files from this evolution. (Not from iM 1 - 6)
So it depends greatly from what version that You mean.

It isn't possible to directly convert a D11 file to a D10
file. The
file format is not backwards compatible and there is no way
within
Director to save it as an older version. There is a guy named
Valentin
who made a XML exporter for the Director format, so using his
scripts
you can save the D11 version to XML, then reconvert that XML
into D10.
It is only a beta thing, and there is no official support for
it, but
you can try it for free and see if it works for you.

IDVD 08 is a bummer. How do I return to an older version?

I had iLife 04 on my Mac for ages, but I just bought and installed iLife 08.
Mistake!
IDVD 08 will not open any of my old iDVD projects; it just sits there with the beachball spinning or doing nothing at all. All the old projects now have the blue and white iDVD 08 icon, but they don't open. Likewise "Open Previous Project" doesn't work.
So, I attempted to recreate some of my old projects in iDVD 08 by dumping the Quicktime movies that were originally used to create the old iDVD 4 projects (QuickTime movies that were exported from Final Cut Express), but I can't seem to drag and drop them into iDVD's background like I could with iDVD 4. When I drag the icon of the QT movie over into iDVD's window, the + sign does not appear, indicating that it's ready to drop, and when I let go of the mouse button, the QT movie's icon returns to the folder where the file resides.
Most of the time, when trying to open or create any project, iDVD just sits there with its beachball spinning, or does nothing at all, so that I have to force-quit it (and then I trash the .plist).
This version of iDVD seems like a real bummer. I can't get it to do anything.
How do I return to iDVD 4? Can I Trash iDVD 08 and then reinstall iDVD 04 from the iLife 04 DVD?

Very rarely do I recommend reverting to an older version of iLife once the current version is already installed. But in your own situation, perhaps this is best ..... given the fact apple's iLife'08 isn't intended for a G4. You need a G5 or better for iMovie apparently within iLife 08. iDVD's system requirements call for at least a G4 733. But I haven't seen anyone post on this iDVD forum who has the latest version of iDVD successfully running on a G4.

How do I get back my older version of Firefox? The new version sux.

I loved the older version of Firefox. I also had a Yahoo toolbar, a MyYearbook tool bar and a Stumble Upon extension. When I "upgraded" to the new 4.0 Beta version, all of those disappeared.
I got a notice that said the new version of Firefox is not compatible.
If it's not compatible, then I don't want it, but I seem to be stuck with it. How do I get my older version back again??

If you resaved the file and changed its name it is wherever you saved it to.
If you changed the name of the open file then that is your only copy.
You can go back to previous versions by various methods. In Pages 5 it is:
Menu > File > Revert

I'm running OS !0.4.8, and software update upgraded my itunes yesterday. Now, it won't open - it says I need 10.4.9.
I CANT upgrade to 10.4.9, because every time I do, Airport Extreme update 2007-001, which is not compatible with 10.4.9, stops working and my internet gets cut off. So how can I revert to the older itunes?

Don't be in such a rush to downgrade iTunes ..... you are putting the cart before the horse!
I would strongly suggest that you upgrade the OSX 10.4.8 to the later versions ... 10.4.10 or .11 ...
but *first update the AirPort Extreme* in the following order:
1) http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportextremeupdate2007002.html
then
2) http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportextremeupdate2007003.html
Repair Permissions using (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/RP) ..... RESTART computer.
You should then be able to upgrade your Tiger OSX 10.4.8, which will enable the install of other applications.

I would hope the problem is that Firefox 5 is not compatible with some of McAfee's additional add-ons. It will be rather worrying if it has a problem with the McAfee security programs themselves. Please state exactly which software and version you are having problems with.
There are known issues with McAfee's Site Advisor [/questions/839953#answer-205178] but it is hoped McAfee will solve that in a few weeks.

Hi, my computer's too old to download 3.6.24 and it says that the older version will stop being supported soon, so how can I continue to use Firefox, I can't afford a new computer? It crashes a lot too, I've been told that's because it's old too.

There are some recovery programs out there if you google them - many with free trials. I haven't tried them so I have no opinion.Read any professional tech and user reviews you can find before you try one. I have read here in the past that some have worked for people who have posted here.
To help in the future, have you considered using Jump Desktop - Remote Desktop? I know it won't solve the problem you're dealing with now (unless notes were taken on your computer.) It's in the app store. It's the #1 paid app in the business category and the reviews are great. It allows you to see anything that's on your computer on your ipad. If you take your notes on your ipad then you might want to email them to yourself, put them on Word in your computer, for example, and then if you need them in class, you remotely connect your ipad to your computer and you will see your notes. This way you won't have to rely so much on the cloud. The explanation would be too long here, but you might want to take a look at it. You can use the free trial on jumpdesk.com and then if it works for you, buy it in the app store.
Meanwhile, it's hours since you sent this post. Hopefully others who can help solve your problem who are on this forum now can help you. I hope you get your notes back. Don't give up too quickly.

How to open Pages files from previous versions?

Can anyone tell me how to open a pages file I made on Pages '09? I don't remember uninstalling that version of Pages, so I'm guessing the current version just wrote over it. Anyway, it won't let me open those files, which is puzzling since I can open Office documents from that time period. Thanks.

Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

I've JRE 1.4.2 in my browser, and it's throwing a AccessControlException whenever the applet is trying to read the "user.name" system property. So, I want to load this particular applet with an older version of JRE, say JRE 1.3. I've tried various approaches like,

I've not tried the simple APPLET tag because we can't specify a java plugin using the APPLET tag.

Applets are prevented from doing certain things - reading data is one - to maximize security. You can either add permissions to the computer that the applet is running on, or you can sign the applet.
