How can i open an excel file located in a client machience , from the same client machience. I tried with Client_ole2....... but its not working.

Thank U. But this will open the command prormp also, so the end user is not feeling so happy. How can i do it with the OLE2 or other method. Acually i need to export the data from the Data Block to Excel. so i did it in AS, and move the excel file to client machiene, and I want to open there , I succeede until moving to the client machience.

How to open and save file like the Notepad Demo do?

I am a newer to Java Web Start. I found that in the Notepad Demo, when user try to open or save file, a message box appear and give the user some security suggestions.
In my application, I used a JFileChooser and set the <security> element to <j2ee-application-client-permissions/> in the jnlp file. But the application will thow an exception:
access denied (java.io.FilePermission C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\desktop\Java Web Start.lnk read)
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem. By the way, where can I find the source of the Notepad Demo. I want my application to open and save file just like the Notepad Demo do.

The Notpad demo uses the JNLP api to read and write files. The api doc can be found at:

How do y ou open a psd file in the trial version of Photoshop? I'm trying to import it from my file pictures or desk top.

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.
I have read through endless FAQ trying to find anyone else who has this question or concern but have found nothing. Can you please tell me how that service will get along with LastPass which does basically the same thing as Synch-it is probably spelled wrong as it looks wrong to me but if I click back to where this issue began, I will lose all of this question so please respond for the upcoming service synch.

Click on the Firefox menu. Then click "Options". Go to "Applications" tab. Search for jpg and png file type. You will find they have "Always ask" action attribute. Change it to "Save file".

How to open a document out side the .war file

I have initially stored a document outside the WEB-INF in the .war file to retrieve it from a jsp file of the same war file. But now the file has been stored at a location on the same server and outside the .war file. how can I retrieve the file path and location outside the war file from the jsp. I ve previously used the following code when retrieving from a directory "docs" of the same .war file as:

Create a servlet which reads the file from the local file system and writes it to the outputstream of the response after having set the response headers accordingly. You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window.
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.

It sounds like if you open Preferences in Word there will be a place where you can specify where to store autorecover files. Right now it sounds like it's pointing to somewhere that doesn't exist.

Unable to open large PDF file from the Attachment list.

Users had attached 10 PDF file in the work order attachment list and his supervisor is trying to open the PDF file from the work order attachment list and he is able to open 9 PDF files without any issue, but 1 PDF file is giving the error message as "Database error for <GET DATA FROM KPRO>" and then select ok, we are getting the below message.
Window cannot find u201CC/Documents and Settings/b2m/SaoworkDir/5015851 Vendor data sheets B&P 2010 SDown XXX .PDFu2019. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click serch.
Looks like this particular file is not transferring to the SAP work directory.
Could you please check and suggest us as to how to fix it.

We verified your OSS notes it's not relevant to us Because our issue is while opening the PDF aatchement it is not transferring to my SAP Work Directory because of that reason we are getting the KPRO error. When I'm opening the other PDF files it's transferring to my SAP Work Directory and it's automatically open without any issue.

Unable to start Photoshop CS6 - could not open a scratch file because the file is locked (Windows)

When I first installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 I was unable to run Photoshop or Bridge CS6. Photoshop would give me an error about "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked. If I ran either of these programs as an administrator they would run without issue, this led me to believe that there was a permission issue somewhere. After some digging I found out the both Bridge and Photoshop try to create a temp file (similiar to Photoshop Temp2777223910092) on the c:\ drive of the computer. In my case the user that I was logged in with did not have access to write to the root of the C:\ drive. Note that you run the program as the administrator and change the scratch disk location as that changes the preference for the administrator user and not the user that you are currently logged in as.
To get around this issue I first had to give the user that I was logged on with write permissions to the root of the C:\ drive. Next try and run Photoshop, you will get an error another error about the scratch disk and about and invalid or missing setting file. To correct this you need to have run Photoshop as an administrator, next you can go to Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings and copy Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs and/or Adobe Photoshop X64 CS6 Prefs to Users\<your logged in username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings.
Photoshop and bridge should now start up with no issues.
I hope that this can help others out there as this caused me a great deal of frustration when upgrading to CS6.

I probably shouldn't say anything since it could complicate this thread, but the rules of thumb can be different under special circumstances when SSD is involved.
IF you have a LOT of empty space on your SSD-based system drive, then Photoshop can actually work great with it's scratch setting pointed at the system drive. Also, up to about a year or so ago, you had to try to severely limit write activity to your SSD drive, since you could actually wear them out by repeated high data write activity. That's pretty much a non-issue now with the advent of things like the SandForce in-drive controller that does wear-leveling inside the drive. Modern drives will last 10 years or more in normal typical use, without special consideration.
As it turns out, making a RAID array of SSDs is a great way to boost performance across the board, have bunches of free space, and ensure even the heaviest usage doesn't shorten the drive life. I have done so, creating a 2 TB system drive C: made from 4 SSDs and Photoshop's swap file (and pretty much everything else) pointed to C:. This system flies, and I can barely tell when Photoshop and/or Windows "goes virtual" and starts using its scratch/swap files heavily. I don't even notice Photoshop auto-saves.

Pretty much everyone who's successfully using a computer - Mac and PC users alike - comes to realize after a while that the task of integrating things on their computers and making everything work falls on THEM, not the developers of applications like Adobe. Some applications pose unique challenges, but to think you can just throw up your hands and try to make it someone else's problem when something goes wrong simply isn't a viable strategy. Maybe that's how things should be, but it's not how it is.
For those of you struggling to get Photoshop to run properly, bear in mind that it's on you to get things working. It works for most folks. It could be a configuration or setup choice you've made that may need revisiting, or some kind of restorative activity that you need to do, or even something very minor like clearing your Photoshop preferences, but it may well take your learning new things and doing things you didn't think you'd have to do to get back to where you can edit photos. It's no one's problem but your own.
So let us here on the forum help you - when we say to do something, try it. We're not here to jerk you around; we're users just like you who have already found the ways to make things work, and we'd like to help you do the same.

I get this error upon launching PS5: "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked .."

I get this error upon launching PS5: "could not open a scratch file because the file is locked or ou do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the 'properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file". The applicaiton will not launch.
Supporting information - I recently changed the scratch disk from C drive to D drive (the back up/restore drive). The application wont launch so I cant change it back to the C drive.
Questions:
- How to I fix this .. from windows explorer how do I find "the file" that the error message refers to?
- Other ways to fix this?
