Thanks Neil...New question re Leopard. In old days when machine would slow down, emptying trash cache and setting it with Tech Tool Pro did the trick. Today with inability to set the trash cache, my G5 Power Mac OS 10.4.11, CPU Speed 1.8 GHz and 768 MB Memory with thousands of files/folders and many apps takes 30 seconds to open. No problem. But, my G5 Pro Mac OS 10.5.7, 2 GHz Processor Speed and 1 GB Memory without all the files takes one minute to open. Always use "Secure Empty Trash. Can't figure out why the Pro Mac is slowing down. Any ideas. Thanks. Ol' Jim.

Sorry to add that as of today, this problem persists. I got the latest update for Flip4mac, and nada. My mail got stuck on a message containing a .wmv attachment and I couldn't get out of it. If I forced quitted it when I restarted it began on the same message and froze again.   After several tries, as soon Mail came on I quickly moved to a different message and it worked.   Don't know why Apple can't do anything about it. Even if they can't or won't handle wmv attachemets they can fix it so that the program does not freeze. They can just say, sorry cannot open attachemt and that's it rather than let Mail itself freeze.

Can you be little specific on what kind of documents are these?
1. You can check if there are ways to integrate the same with KM...am not sure about CRM but yes, it can be done on BIW.
2. If these are just config documents and not that user creates, then you may save these docs into a KM folder and create a KM Navigation link assigning to users.

Mail in Lion crashes when opening .wmv attachment?

Anyone else has this problem? I can get around it by going to my Verizon account and opening such attachemets from their mail page.

WMV is a proprietary Microsoft format which requires Windows Media Player to view the video. In the past Microsoft has a Windows Media Player version for OS X on a the Mac to view these files, but Microsoft stopped providing and supporting it for OS X a long time ago. A 3rd party purchased some rights from Microsoft to provide this capability on a Mac, which is called Flip4Mac. There is not an iPhone version for this and doubtful if Microsoft has any plans to provide support for viewing Windows Media Player files with the iOS for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

There is a mail with attachment docx file, I click forward to edit, at this moment, I want to open the attachment to check a few, but when I double-click the attachment, it always open a tmp file and ask me which application will be use. how can I disable the tmp file, just use what file is to open it?

Where is the pdf you are trying to open? Is it on the server or the client? If the file is stored on the server then you can access it using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT assuming it is stored in a place that has a virtual mapping. For example:
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('http://server/someLocation/file.pdf','_blank');If the file is on the client then you need to configure your application to use WebUtil. Then you can do what Francois suggested.

.WMV format is not supported by the iPad. I do not know of any app that can play them on the iPad. Myself, I convert them to a supported iPad format (I use mp4) on my desktop with Handbrake and them import them to my iPad.

You should see the attachment as an icon in the mail. Tap on it to download. you can also hold your finger down on it and see what options it offers you.
What kind of attachment is it? If it's some sort of document then the viewer in the ipad should allow you to view it. Other kinds of attachments may not be able to be opened. All depends on what it is.

My application has a feature to download different types of files(pdf, xls, html)
When user clicks on the respective links, a popup with Open, Save and Cancel option will come up.
Now the problem is when the attachment is html and user clicks Open, it opens in the main window.

With Snow Leopard Mail attachment stopped to open in the space to witch I assigned the related application, but keep on opening in the Mail space.
I have Mail assigned to space #1 and, for example, iWork assigned to space #3. With Leopard iWork attachments opened correctly in space #3, whereas with its successor they open in space #1.
I didn't find any option to set this right.
Besides spaces has not worked right since Mac OS X 10.6.0. It happens that even when I open documents from the Finder they open in the wrong space.
Is there any way to make it work fine, as it did with Mac OS 10.5?

I am trying to open a .wmv file on my Macbook Air. Flip4Mac doesn't work for OS X 10.9.1. Any other players suggested or ideas?

Try using VLC.
If that WMV file contains DRM, no Mac OS X software will open it.
