How to organize my files folder?

how to organize my files folder without being on my desktop? I'm used to window, is there a way to create a basic folder and then subdivide it from there, but where is the best place, easy access

You can create a folder on the desktop if you wish, and then create folders within that folder, and folders within those folders ad infinitum.  However, if you open Finder (it's the leftmost icon on your dock and looks like a blue/white face) then you will see the Documents folder.  That is the logical place to store your files generally.  The same comment I made earlier about nesting folders within folders applies here too.

It sounds like this question is for Photoshop. This is a Flash forum. In any case, is your question about real folders on your computer, or server, or are asking about the files and folders in the "Layers" panel? Or, is your question about using the Library panel in Flash?

  • Add-CMDeploymentType: How to add a file/folder detection method

    Hello all,
I'm discovering how to add applications & deploymenttypes to my SCCM deployment through Powershell.
Adding the application went smoothly, but I'm struggling a bit at the deploymenttype.
I want to add a file/folder detection clause as you can in the admin console, but it seems that that the Add-CMDeploymentType cmdlet doesn't allow this..
    Am I correct?
Can you only add a scripted detection clause to the deploymenttype?
For now I've just added the following Powershell detection clause:
    Test-Path %PATH_TO_A_FILE_OF_THE_APP%
This will then return true after the application has installed.
Thanks for your insights on this!
    Filip

    Hello Christopher,
    command I execute:
I've just tried what you suggested, but now the path to the detection script just gets put into the script content window, instead of the contents of the file..
    http://sdrv.ms/1fx6wnN
This is the command I execute:
    $NewDT=Add-CMDeploymentType
    -ApplicationName
    $AppName
    -ScriptInstaller
    -DeploymentTypeName
    "Local Install"
    -InstallationProgram
    $DTProgram
    -InstallationBehaviorType
    $DTBehavior
    -LogonRequirementType
    $DTLogonReq
    -ContentLocation
    $DTContentLocation
    -ManualSpecifyDeploymentType
    -DetectDeploymentTypeByCustomScript
    -ScriptType
    Powershell
    -ScriptContent
    \\syn-sccm01\sources\SCCM\Packages\PSTest\GoogleEarthDetection.ps1
Should I quote that path somewhere?

  • How to create a file folder in iCloud pages? (a few documents)

Hey everyone! I want to create some file folders in my Pages on iCloud because there is no clear overview with 20 documents and/or more..but unfortunately it does not work. thanks for your support! best regards, lisa

I had this question too.  Apple supports folders in a nice way, but it is not advertised or documented, as far as I can tell.
I figured out how to create folders that I can see on my iPad or my iPhone--through the back door by going into the Library/Mobile Documents folder on my iMac, before I learnedf an easier way to do it on my mobile devices.
Using your mobile device, if you open up Pages, Numbers, or Keynote on your iPhone or iPad, you have the option to see your Documents.  If you have documents that fall into a category that you would like to put in a common folder, e.g. "Colorado Trip," all you need to do to start the process is select one of the documents by pressing down on it with your finger, then dragging that document on top of one of the other documents that you want in the same folder.  A folder will be created and you will be given a chance to name that folder.  After this step, you can drag other documents into the new folder, or out of it if you change your mind.
If you have the most recent Pages, Numbers, and Keynote iOS app updates, you can search your directory on your iPhone of iPad.  The search looks inside these new folders, so it's a fairly nice boost to your organization and productivity.
    Enjoy!

  • How to Organize Movie Files like Song Files

I've sent this to iTunes tech support many times, but htey're ignoring it. After the third revision to iTunes 7, I can't believe it still does this., Read on:
Using iTunes 6, I've stored all of my ripped DVDs (ones that I own) in my iTunes media drive the same way as my MP3s--DVD Artist's Folder/DVD Title/Movie Tracks. Now it seems that the new iTunes 7 will place ALL video files into a folder called "Movies," and they are stored loose. There is no organization of DVD Artist and subtitles. This is a MAJOR drawback. I haven't been able to find the option to modify it.
    Bummer.
Other than that, it is a thing of beauty. But until those are resolved, I'm sticking with 6... Unless one of you can tell me how to solve the first problem (which is my major one). Or at least PLEASE come out with a fix that stores them the same as MP3/AAC files. Honestly, who wants hundreds or thousands of video files stored loose in a single folder with only a track name?
    Thanks!

I don't know about Movies, but iTunes 7 organises my TV Shows (ripped from my DVDs) the way it organises my music. I get:
Music: iTunes: TV Shows: TV Show Name: Episode Name.mp4
There were one or two episodes that it didn't organise however, and they are simply stored "loose" in the TV Shows folder. I have no idea why.
I guess you could try changing the "Video Kind" using this Applescript:
Set Video Kind of Selected v2.0

  • How to organize Excel files inside Numbers, PPT files inside Keynote?

Hi. I have the Dropbox app on my iPad. In here I have some PPT and XLS files. How can I ensure that when I try to open them, they open inside Keynote and Numbers respectively?
I guess I'm just trying to know if there's something like "Finder" on an iPad. Where are all the files kept -- is there one place? Like a Documents folder or something?
    Thanks

No Finder equivalent - documents are stored effectively "wthin" the app you used to get them onto the iPad.
Dropbox does have the "Send to..."/"Open in..." arrow, which should give you control over where the document is opened.

  • How can you get File/Folder information?

    Hello,
I'm a Windows XP/Vista convert. One thing I liked about XP and Vista is how you could simply point to a file, hover the pointer over it and it would tell you information about it. Also, in the status bar it would tell you the total amount of space occupied by all the files in a folder.
Is there a way to get this same functionality in OSX? I haven't upgraded to Leopard just yet, but I wonder if it has this functionality built into it. Very simple features, but can 10.4.10 or 10.5 do either one? Or is there a simple utility that will give this functionality to the Finder?
Also, what's the BEST file manager for OSX out there? I use PowerDesk in XP quite a bit, is there something similar out there for the Mac?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Thanks, but I meant to add, is there some way to get this information other than the way you've outlined? I like how Windows handles it, either by displaying it in the status bar or showing a bubble/popup by just hovering the mouse over the icon. Please tell me that Leopard will do this. I mean, that seems like a VERY basic feature that, well, just makes sense to me. It shouldn't be anymore difficult than that.
Is this addressed in another way in MacOSX?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Is there a way to custom organize my files/folder in finder?

I don't like the way that finder arranges my files and folders.  I have tried all the arrangements and none of them "flow" for me.  What I would like to do is to be able to put my files / folders where I want them.  I like to group similar folders together and put the most important files/folders at the top.  Now this isn't an exhaustive list of how I want to arrange them.  Its more about where my eyes go and what I want to see.  I am a new mac user so maybe this is a really simple fix that I don't know about.  Thank you for any help!!
    A.

If you are referring to the on-screen arrangement of files and folders within a window, none of the list views will allow you to customize the order.  You'd have to use icon view in order to do that.

  • How To Organize Entity Files In A Project

I'm using Entity Framework to connect to our databases and the project is getting clutter with multiple edmx files. I tried to drag them to a Data Models folder that I created, but that broke the project. Is there a way to put the EF model files into a
    separate folder of their own?
MCSD .NET developer in Dallas, Texas

    Hello DallasSteve,
    >> Is there a way to put the EF model files into a separate folder of their own?
For database first and model first approaches, as far as I know, we cannot specify the output directory, EF is in charge of where it puts stuff and where it expects them to be. For your case, my suggestion is that you could place every edmx file to a separate
folder, if your edmx files are already your project, you could create correspondent folders(e.g. you have edmx files: Model1 and Model2, then you could create two folders named Model1 and Model2) and move these edmx files to these folders, so that each edmx
would have itself entity files even there are same name files in other edmx models.
Another approach is to specify these entity files to output to a separate project, for details, you could check this
    article.

  • How to Organize LR files with New two HD System 7 machine?

We are getting a new System 7 workstation with a 256GB SSD, and a 1 TB 7200 2nd drive.  We have some 40,000 pics in the current catalogue.  Photo files are approx 190 GB.  Previews are 12 GB, catalog is 430 MB and the backup is 420 MB.
The current HD is 750GB, with some 60 GB in XP "overhead" and 250 GB of total files including all LR related files (some195 GB) as listed above.  Obviously I can't put everything on the 256GB SSD.  I assume the most logical solution is to put all original digital files on the 1 TB drive and leave all other files on the SSD drive.
Any help is appreciated as I sure would like to get this right the first time.  Speed is becoming a problem with the old machine and I would like to optimize LR on the new setup.
Thanks very much for any help . . . I looked over the Forum and did not find answers to this issue.
    Jack

Not sure how to be clearer...
SSD will work best with the OS and applications. You can put the catalog on it as well, but I would try to keep it as free as possible given the small size of the disk. Try the cache on both, you can change this in LR, to establish which location gets the best performance. Back ups of your original files should be on another separate disk, an external or on line, not on the same disk as your working files or where your OS is, otherwise there is little point in backing up LR back ups are also best on a separate disk altogether, but if you only have two just make sure they are on a disk other than where the catalog is located, in this case the boot drive is better than nothing..
I, personally use a four disk system. Boot drive, with OS, applications and cache.
    Internal drive 1 with catalog
    Internal drive 2 files
External drive backups of files and catalog.
This also backed up on line.
But as you will see from the link I posted there are differing ways of setting up LR, best to try different configurations for yourself. Moving the catalog and or caches is pretty simple, just leave the original files alone and you will be fine messing with different configurations.
