How to Pan/Crop a Video?

Alright, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to AE and I can't figure out how to pan/crop videos like in Sony Vegas. I need both my video and text to  be in a different position, but amazingly I couldn't find any results online. I am running CS6 , thanks for any help I can get.

Really, read it. If you can't even do a basic crop, then you'll forever run into trouble with the simplest things.

Excellent video, 5 stars. I would like to see and video about exporting which is mentioned in this tutorial but there isn't such title listed below. Where is that video posted?

  • How can I crop my video clips at non-90 degree angles?

Looking to get more of a trapazoid shape for a few video clips so I can piece them together and rotate them as if they were segments (pie slices) of a larger circle. Is this what masks are for or is there an easier way to do this? Thanks,
    jagr

Create a shape, add a mask. That's what it's for

  • How do you crop a video so it is upright?

So I took a video and during the video I turned my SG5 sideways to getter a better view. Well now it looks awful when I view it. Is there a way to fix this?
This is the video. I had to host it on You tube and use some cheap *** editor. And still could not get the video on FB. As you can see I was able to get all but the first 30 seconds correct. But I had to host it on You Tube. I dont want to have to do this. Is there another way? I got Windows 8.1 and Movie Maker is not working. HELP

If this still works in Mavericks ...
Use Get Info on the file, and go to the Sharing & Permissions section.

  • How to crop a video in Premiere Elements 13?

How do I crop a video in Premiere Elements 13?  I see 'pan and zoom.'   And, it retains the aspect ratio automatically, but I don't always need the 'pan' or the 'zoom' -- just want a tight shot on an actresses' sunglasses, which reflect something she is shocked to see.  When I go to help and ask about cropping, it sends me to Photoshop.  Still learning here.

Seems that it is impossible to crop video frame in 13, all guidelines in Adobe pages or any other lead to versions 12 or older, crop is not anymore in same place. Little odd, very simple and needed tool. FreeSpeechZOne have asked this long time ago and no answer??

Try plugging it into a computer with iTunes opened. If you see anything that says restore, say no.
Sometimes these issues resolve themselves when you connect the device to iTunes.
What happens when you hold the home and sleep/wake button? I know it doesn't work, but does it shut off at all?

  • How do I legitimately crop a video to 2.35:1 rather than just artificially do it.

So premiere allows you to use the crop effect, or crop the video during the exporting (on source you can delete pixels on top and bottom). But this only adds black bars to the video, the video is still physically a 16:9 video, just with black.
How can I do this. (I want to upload to vimeo and it be a legitimate 2.35:1 video rather than a 16:9 with black bars).
    Thanks
    TJ

dont worry about "Source scaling", can leave that on "scale to fit". just change the output resolution to match the crop. uncheck aspect ratio icon (the chain link) so you can adjust the height pixels independent of the width.

  • How to crop a video from 16:9 to 9:16 ?

I have some DVCPRO HD material shot at 960x720 of a fashion shoot. Client has just asked can he have some of the shots of the model standing straight in a 9:16 ration as they will be putting it on a web site and wanted to save space for all the blank material on the edge of the shot.
So how would I crop into the 16:9 video so that I only get the centre third and then export that to 360x640?
    Thx
    Kevin

Double click the clip to send it to the Viewer. Click the Motion tab -Crop controls are halfway down the page. Export a still from the scene.
To return to the original image, right click and choose Remove Attributes. Deselect the Crop checkbox.

  • How to crop a video

So we have a wmv file that we are cleaning up using Soundbooth CS4. Don't really have any experience with SB, but it was included with our Creative Suite install so we thought we would give it a go.
We didn't even think we could crop a video, but when we do a "save as..." from the original file there are these crop settings in the export dialog that really seem to suggest that we could. So we select the crop tool, adjust the size, set some of the other properties that we want to change on the other tabs and save as...
And then we get the progress bar and it process and process. And eventually the new file shows up in the files tab. And it is exactly the same size and uncropped.
So are we just not understanding what that is supposed to do? Or does it just not work? Or ... ? ? ?
    Thanks for any help.

Soundbooth (and the other applications in the video suite) usually route video through a separate Media Encoder application.  I was able to reproduce this issue when cropping video files, but was not able to reproduce this problem in the very latest build of the tool, so it looks like it may be fixed.  You might want to try updating the next time that Adobe Updater pops up, hollerin' about updates, and see if that helps.
Okay.  While this looks like a simple new paragraph, I've actually been sifting through their bug database and found the bug report.  Looks like this was fixed by the team in the last 2 months, so it's unlikely to be fixed in any updates out right now.  Sorry you ran into the bug, but thanks for the detailed steps and information.

  • Top Cropped on Video

I have imported a movie from my camera (Sony DCR-HC42). When looking at the thumbnails the movie looks perfect. But, when I play it, the top is cropped off of everything. Any idea why, or how to fix?

OK Here is one more thing to try.
First, Do you have the Advanced Tools available? To do this, click iMovie/Preferences. Then but a checkmark by "Show Advanced Tools". This is at the bottom of the preferences window.
The Advanced Tools should now be showing in the space between the Projects Pane and the Events Pane.
Now you will see the CROP tool. It is the button on the Advanced Tool Bar that is the thirsd from the right. Click it and you can crop your video. Your choices are FIT and CROP. If you choose FIT, it will use you footage to try and fill the screen for your chosen aspect ratio. If you choose CROP, you can move around a box to choose what part of the frame is showing. I recommend playing around with it until you get the results you want.
    Good luck.

  • Video Format Total Solution: How to Convert and Edit Video on Windows/Mac

More and More video formats are coming out with different video encoders and it makes our spare time more and more colorful. However, it is not to say that there is no problems. Actually, different video formats make it difficult to share video with others, even your own camcorder and iPod. Is there an easy way to convert videos effectively. Yes, there is.
In this article, I will show you guys how to convert videos on windows and mac.
Part 1. How to Convert and Edit Videos on Windows
For Windows users, you need a Video Converter(http://www.aiseesoft.com/total-video-converter.html) to do that for you.
Here I use Aiseesoft Total Video Converter(http://www.aiseesoft.com/total-video-converter.html)
Step 1: Download and install Aiseesoft Total Video Converter
After you download it to your computer, double click it and it is really easy to install.
You just need to click “next” and it will complete it in seconds. It will automatically run after installation.
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/screen.jpg
    Step 2: Load Video
Click “Add File” to find the video that you want to convert and click “open”. It will be loaded automatically.
Step 3: Select the target to decode
In the “Profile” drop download list you can find your target according the usage of your output video, such as if you want to put the video on your iPod touch, you can select the “iPod” in the first list and “iPod touch 2 MPEG-4 640*480(*.mp4)” in the second list.
    Step 4: Set Advanced Parameters
After you select the right output profile, you can click “setting” button to set your advanced parameters. You can adjust video and audio settings separately. In video section, you can change “video encoder”, “resolution”, “frame rate”, “video bitrate”In audio section, you can change “audio encoder”, “sample rate”, “channel”, “audio bitrate”If you want to save this profile and settings and use it next time you can click “save as” button to give a name to it. And the next time you want to use it you can find it in the profile list named “user defined”.
    Step 5: Choose a Destination
To browse and find a output folder for your output files or just the default one.
Finally, Click “Convert” button to begin your conversion, here in the converting
interface you can choose “shut down the computer when conversion complete” or “open output folder when conversion complete” or you just do not choose neither one.
Tips: How to Edit the Output Video
This video converter is also a video editor, you can use it to edit your output video as follows:
    http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/guide/total-video-converter/effect.jpg
    1. Effect:
You are allowed to adjust the “Brightness”, “Contrast”, “Saturation” and you can choose the “deinterlacing” to make the video more enjoyable.
    2. Trim:
In “Trim” section you can pick up any part of the video to convert.
There are two ways to select the part of the video you want. One is set the start and end time in the box. The other one is to drag the start and end button in the processing bar.
    3. Crop:
This function allows you to choose a certain play area to convert. That means you can choose a part of the screen you like to convert. For example, you just like the tv in the middle of the screen, then you can drag the frame around the preview window to select the tv and the output preview will show you the output video. In this section you can also choose the “zoom mode”, such as “keep original”, “full screen”, “16:9”, “4:3”.

  • How can I output RCA video?

How can I output RCA video from the headphone jack of my macbook pro? Is there any software to do this?

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera...  is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

  • How to (visually) crop a screen recording???

OK, QuickTime X is great at making a screen recording, and I now have a 1680x1050 .MOV. Great.
What I want is to crop it, so that the video depicts for example 600x600 pixels in one are of the screen. How do I crop the resulting screen recording to achieve this? Tools readily available include QuickTime 7 PRO, iMovie 06 and Final Cut Express 4. With FCE I achieved a 1680x1050 recording where the 600x600 video played inside a huge black border. No good.

Adobe Reader cannot edit PDFs in any way.

  • How can I shorten the video rendering time in PS CC2014?

9 minute video just took 22 hours to render - 2.5 hours per video minute! 2 camera operation, all clips as Smart Objects and separated into 2 video groups, Camera Raw Filter edit for color control and sharpening, several clips have Transform cropping, audio within 1 video, no keyframes, output converted from 1080p to 720p so lots of stuff going on. 2-year old pc, 16GB RAM, 10GB RAM allocated to PS, 8GB RAM in use; 4-core i7 processor at 35% utilization, no network activity. 3 minute videos took only 1 hour per video minute. Premier not an option. Increasing RAM allocation is one guess. Thanks.

If you delete the two Camera RAW Smart filter adjustment layers. How long does it take to render the video.   I don't know if Camera RAW color correction is going to be beneficial for video NTSC, Pal etc. Video encoding and compression only has full frames sever so often in a video stream most frames are just differences so I don't know how effective sharpen is for Video. Perhaps Smart object and smart filters are just increasing processing time and not adding great value.  Considering Digital Video Camera can encode video in real time. Also the video you get from a Digital Camera is Process video may be encoded with Motion Jpeg or some other some other video encoding.  How well can it be sharpened and color corrected.  Transforming and Cropping does not need to be done using  Camera RAW as a smart Filter.

  • Why is it that no matter how small I crop/trim a clip, the file sz is big?

Why is it that no matter how small I crop/trim a clip, the file size is still the same size? I can crop a 20 min video down to 10 seconds and it stays at 5 gigs.

Hi NikonGirl - as Lennart explains, only clips that you have not used any part of can be removed from the project's Media folder.
If space is of major concern for you, what you can do when you've finished editing, is 'Share' your project to Full Quality QuickTime. This keeps your original quality but removes all of the clips or parts of clips that have been edited out. That QT file can be stored or of course used later to make a DVD.
