How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

  • How can we move LSMW from Development server to Production

    Hi
    pls give me idea on
    1) how we can test lsmw
    2) how we can move from  one server  to another server
    3) how we can do you it to use periodically
4)What is use of radio buttons once and periodic in maintain attributes screen
    thanks

    1.  By running the actual conversion.  I dont understand the question.
    2.  Depends on how your server is configured.  If this is configured to move LSMW projects through transports, then you can create a transport and move it.  If not you can just export the project and import it into PRD.
    3.Run the program /SAPDMC/SAP_LSMW_INTERFACE
4.Not sure what you are asking.

  • SharePoint 2013 : Migration of customization from development server to production server

    Dear all,
I have the following scenario and servers:
    1. Development Server; (Server where our developers would develop our dms and/or enhancement based on change request)
    2. Test Server; (Test server where our users will test the system (dms) and/or enhancement requested)
    3. Production Server (Our production server where only our end users will have access , developers wont have access to this env.)
My question is how to migrate our changes from development server to test server and finally to production server?
Is there a mechanism/ guide /best practice approach for this?
Any help/guide would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks & regards
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
    Thanks for posting your issue, Moving stuff from environment to environment will depending on your stuff;
Content, like list items and documents, can't be easily moved. They can be moved with 3rd party solutions, or custom code. You can do it with a C# solution or even using PowerShell.
Stuff like lists, libraries, master pages, CSS, etc. should be packaged in a solution file, either sand box or farm solution. This solution file can contain all of the assets you require, and then it can be deployed into a new environment, which then provisions
all the stuff you need (it could also load up test/sample data if needed)
Another nice solution, if you're working with a brand new site, is to back it up and restore it into another environment. That helps get the bulk of the stuff copied over, and then you can use one of the above methods for continuing updates.
Also, check out below mentioned URL to move content from on environment to another environment

  • How to move database objects from one user to another user

Could someone help how to move database objects from one user to another user
    Thanks in advance

Thanks a lot for the reply.
Actually I wanted to know whether there is any command to change the owner ship of the table.
For ex table1 belongs to user1. can the owner of table1 to be changed to owner2.
directly using an oracle command. I knew that it can be done using import and export, since the table was 200 million thought the rename command would be faster instead of import and export.
Thanks Billy for letting me know that it is not possible using oracle query.

  • How to export tables from development server to production server

    HI,
Any body plz let me know how to export tables from development server to production server. what are the user names and password i need to ask my manager to do that. what are the requirements i need to ask him.
    Plz reply me ASAP.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi buddy
first of all you should let us know the environment of production and development servers
    database versions
and you need to have userid which has privilege to export tables of other schema. userid(owner) of the tables you want to export.
    Traditional way
export tables in development server and then ftp to production and then import
in the above case you should have similar database structure(tablespace etc) to avoid errors...
if there are few tables only , you can use dblink instead of export and import...

  • How can i copy ztable from development server to ides server?

how can i copy ztable from development server to ides server?

    Hello Suresh
The simplest way is to use a transport request.
Another possibility is to check for SAPLINK plugins which allow to download table definitions (including data elements and domains) into a flat file. Upload on IDES again via [SAPLINK|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/SAPlink].

  • HT3696 How its' possible to change from 32 bit to 64 bit Processor for MacMini?

How its' possible to change from 32 bit to 64 bit Processor for MacMini? Mini?

You probably have a Core Solo or Core Duo model. You can upgrade the CPU to a 64-bit Core 2 Duo in the T7200-T7600 family.
iFixit and OWC provide easy-to-follow, step-by-step guides. It's a delicate procedure, but not overly difficult. I'm all thumbs, and I have done it twice.

  • How to port a project from a database to another

Can any help me find a documantation how to port my metadata project from one database to another step by step. I get problem with the location and connector in mapping when import the metadata file (mdl)

I have to do the same task here. Still couldn't start this task though...
But I believe I'll use the MDL file. I don't see how avoid the connector/location issue either. I believe that migrating OWB's repositories demands to recreate this structures...
If anyone else knows how to overcome this issue, I'd be glad to know how!

  • How to translate database character from GB2312 to GBK?

I have a problem. I am response for managing a large Oracle database. The RDBMS is oracle 8.1.6 under solarise 2.7 . I need to translate database character from GB2312 to GBK. Who can tell me how to do? Thank you very much.

The UTF-8 encoding is an encoding that converts each
character to 1~3 bytes depending on what unicode block
the character belongs. And the expression such as
"\u5143\u7d20" (double quote for String) is the
unicode escape sequence and is independent of UTF-8 or
other encodings. If you would like to convert a
GB2312 file to a file written in the form of unicode
sequences, then you can use the command line command
"native2ASCII." See the tutorial in the following
    link.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/tooldocs/windows/natie2ascii.html
Let me explain bit clearly, We have Chinese character in GB2312 Instant DB Database as well as in file. We want to convert it into Unicode and insert into AS400 Database. In Instant DB the values are inserted using DBVisualizer (Simple INSERT SQL Statement). If we use the same style in AS400 we couldn't display the Chinese fonts in Java Swing Components.
So we thought of changing these into Unicode escape sequence and insert into AS400. Unicode escape sequence can be viewed in Java Swing Components if it declared in the code as a String, but it is not working if we retrieved it from AS400.
    Do you have any idea?

  • How to remove database name from SQL query

We have an MS SQL server with several databases that are of the same schema but have different data.  We do this for testing different environments.  We are using Crystal reports for the first time and we are having trouble changing the database location in the designer.  If update the data source location to the same database server, but different database name, the data still comes from the original database used when creating the report.  We look at the SQL query and it contains the database name and does not change when updating the data source.  Therefore the data always comes from the database used when originally creating the report.
How can I remove the database name from the SQL query so the proper database is used when testing the report?

    Hi C F
Please ensure you have followed the procedure mentioned below:
In Crystal Reports, there are two ways to set the location of the data source your report points to, depending on your connection type.
    For ODBC and Native Connections:
    1. On the 'Database' menu, click 'Set Datasource Location'.
    2. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click the data source to be changed. You must click each individual table in the data source one by one. If the data source is a stored procedure you will not see individual tables.
NOTE     In Crystal Reports 10, XIR1, and XIR2, if you are mapping from a data source such as a stored procedure where the report designer can not determine which fields should be mapped automatically, you will see a 'Mapping' dialog box where you can manually map fields, as in the procedure cited above.
    3. In the 'Replace with' section, click the data source you want the report to use.
    4. Click 'Update'.
    5. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.
The report now points to the new location.
    For Native Connections Only:
    1. On the 'Database' menu, click 'Set Datasource Location'.
    2. In the 'Current Data Source' section, click 'Properties' to expand it and right-click 'Database Name: <path to database>'.
    3. Click 'Edit' and then type the path to the
    new data source location.
    4. Close the 'Set Datasource Location' window.
The report now points to the new location.
    Regards
